Season Ending Banquet – Please Send In Your Photos

We are busy planning for the end of season baseball banquet coming up on Sunday, May 21.  We are hoping to collect pictures of our Radnor baseball players across the Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams to use at the banquet.

If anyone has photos they are willing to share for use at the banquet, please either email them to Julie Hoysgaard(jahoysgaard@aol.com) or put them on a flash drive for Julie (which will be returned after the photos have been downloaded from the flash drive),  Ideally, we'd like to have all the photos by this Monday to allow enough time to incorporate them for the banquet.

Thanks in advance for all your photographic contributions!

Broadcasting Our Games   Zander Saionz, the Varsity team manager, is scoring and broadcasting the Radnor Varsity games via the GameChanger App.   GameChanger allows one to enter everything that is happening in a game, pitch by pitch, and stream that out through the Internet.  This allows parents who are stuck at work during the games and out of town relatives and fans to follow along during a game so they don't miss out on the game action.

GameChanger’s viewing model is a bit different than iScore’s.  There is no viewing app – you must view the play by play via the www.gc.com web site on any device.  You can see scores and other basic information for free.  To see live play by play, GameChanger charges a $2.99/month fee.  When you go the www.gc.com website, you should search for “Radnor Raiders Varsity”.  You can then click on the link as a family member to the team.

We also have had a couple of parents live tweeting updates during most Varsity games on our Twitter account (@RadnorBaseball).  You can follow along with your Twitter app or even on our radnorbaseball.com website which displays a current stream of our @RadnorBaseball tweets on the right hand side of the screen.

We also have the capability to post game summaries on our website.  Bill Moore has volunteered to write the game summaries for Varsity games.  If anyone is interested in doing so for the JV or Freshman teams, please let me know.

Mark your calendars for the following events:

Saturday, May 20 – (Tentative) Radnor Varsity Plays at Frawley Stadium

Today Coach Kerrigan and the Varsity baseball team held a baseball clinic for 29 Radnor Wayne Little Leaguers on Rowland Field.  Despite the cold, breezy, and sometimes rainy weather, a good time was had by each of the participants who learned a few new baseball skills and enjoyed getting to play baseball with the Varsity players.  Thanks to Coach Kerrigan and the Varsity team for their time and efforts today!

2017 RABA Booster Golf Outing, April 30, Paxon Hollow Golf Club

We're heading back to Paxon Hollow for this year's annual booster golf outing.

All RABA families are encouraged to support the outing in some way. Not a golfer? No big deal, Paxon is VERY playable - a fun course. The outing is a scramble: everyone plays from the best ball after each shot, there's one score for the foursome. The more golfers we have, the more funds we raise for the club. Use it for business entertainment, a fun family outing, or simply a way to get some exercise and relieve some stress whacking a little white ball.

The form for the outing is attached in this email for your convenience, and is also available as a link on the left hand side of the www.radnorbaseball.com website.

Given that we are only two weeks away from the outing, please send in your completed form along with check right away to ensure your spot in the outing.  Don’t get shut out from all the fun, including a post-golf party at Flip & Bailey’s!

Thank you for supporting RABA!

Jules Thin Crust Fundraiser – This Thursday

2017 Season - Weekly RHS Baseball News - Week of April 2, 2017

April 2, 2017

Game Schedule this week

Varsity and JV teams have scheduled games on Monday (at Springfield),  Wednesday (at Penncrest), and Friday (vs Upper Moreland).

The Freshman team are scheduled to be at home vs Harriton on Tuesday and on the road to take on Springfield on Friday.

Good luck to all teams in their games this week!!

Chili’s Pancake Breakfast

The Chili’s Pancake Breakfast earlier today was a huge success!  We raised about $2,500 for the Radnor baseball program through everyone’s efforts selling tickets to the pancake breakfast.

Special thanks go out to Dan DiLella and Shelby Frankel who took the lead in organizing and running the breakfast along with the other members of their committee!  Additional thanks to all the Freshmen players in the program who did a great job serving the food and taking care of our guests today at Chili’s!

If for some reason, you could not make it out to Chili’s this morning but still have the money you collected from selling tickets, please get it to either Tony DeShan, Dan DiLella, or Gary Cohen sometime this week so that we can close the books on this year’s breakfast.

The $50 cash prize for the three players who sold the most tickets is going to Jake Zaslow, Jack Demmy, and Chris Massaro.  We will get the prizes to them later this week.

Pipeline Taco Fundraiser

Thanks to everyone who patronized Pipeline Taco for our fundraising night last Monday.  Pipeline Taco is donating $155 to the Booster Club.  Thanks to Pipeline Taco for their donation, and special thanks to Jill Demmy for organizing this fundraiser!

Help Needed

Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to help us with one or more of our parent committees that allow us to conduct so many wonderful events and raise money for the RHS baseball program.  For those still looking for an opportunity to help out, please consider working on the Golf Outing committee (see below).

2017 RABA Booster Golf Outing, April 30, Paxon Hollow Golf Club

We're heading back to Paxon Hollow for this year's annual booster golf outing. There's a golf committee meeting Monday (4/3) evening at Flip & Baileys at 6:30pm (won't be more than 40 mins). If you're not yet on a RABA Booster committee, you're encouraged to come out and help with the outing.

This is the club's largest fund raiser: we need golfers (including alumni!), sponsors/donations, and organizational help. Bill Moore and Chris Campbell could sure use a couple more helping hands.

We also need help with the post-party. Plenty of opportunities to get involved! Email Bill at moores216@verizon.net or call/text to 610.937.1994.

The form for the outing is attached in this email for your convenience, and is also available as a link on the left hand side of the www.radnorbaseball.com website. Thank you for supporting RABA!

Booster Dues

RHS Baseball Booster dues are $150/player and are now payable.  If you have not already sent in your dues payment, please make checks payable to "RHS Booster Club" and mail to:

Tony DeShan

425 Round Hill Road

St. Davids, PA  19087

The dues pay for many critical items that support the Radnor baseball teams that are NOT covered by the school district.  The Booster Club strives to provide a supportive environment for the coaches and the team to focus in on playing baseball, giving them the facilities, equipment, and encouragement as they strive to excel both on and off of the baseball diamond.

Note that if paying the dues would be a financial hardship for your family, please call or email Tony DeShan (anthonydeshan@gmail.com or 512-431-7886) to discuss having the dues payment waived.

Mark your calendars for the following events:

Tuesday, April 4 - Team Pasta Party at the RHS Cafeteria

Following up on our first year of getting the teams together to enjoy some pasta together from time to time after practice, we are going to have a couple of program-wide pasta parties at the school cafeteria after practice.  Our next Pasta Party is Tuesday, April 4.  We started pasta parties for the baseball team last year, based on the success of the football program's pasta parties.  We hope that by eating together, the team and the program as a whole builds strong bonds that carry over onto the field.

All baseball players, managers, and coaches are invited to the RHS Cafeteria after their game or practice has finished.

Radnor Baseball families donate food, drinks, and their time so that we can feed the players, managers, and coaches and make the event run smoothly.

Look at this sign up for more info, and please sign up to bring food or drink or to help lend a hand if you are able:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0b4da4a92caa8-radnor

Please also let Jill Demmy (jillpd618@gmail.com) or Diane Cohen (dianelcohen@gmail.com) know if your son has allergies or other dietary restrictions that we should be aware of.

2017 Season - Weekly RHS Baseball News - Week of March 26, 2017

March 26, 2017

Practice Schedule this week

Varsity and JV teams have scheduled games on Monday (vs Marple Newtown) and Wednesday (vs Harriton), weather permitting.   Both Varsity games are home games.

The Freshman team have their first game scheduled for Friday at home vs Marple Newtown.

Good luck to all teams as they begin their seasons!

Given the uncertain weather and to be determined gym times, the practice schedule for our teams this week is not yet set.  As soon as the practice schedule is finalized, we will send out an email to everyone.

2017 Schedule Info

The 2017 game schedule for all three teams has been posted on our website (www.radnorbaseball.com).  You can subscribe to your's game schedule on your smartphone or computer by going to "Schedules" on our website, selecting "2017 Season" as the Division, selecting your son's team (Freshman, JV, or Varsity), and selecting the "Subscribe (iCal)" button.  If changes are posted to the schedule on the website, your calendar on your phone or computer will automatically update based on the changes.

If you want updates faster, click HERE  and provide your email address to get notification of any RHS Baseball schedule changes from DigitalSports.com.  This site is updated directly by the Athletic Director's office.  DigitalSports is the first place to be updated.  Our website only gets updated after I receive the email from DigitalSports, so if you want to be the first to know, you can subscribe directly to DigitalSports.  Note that you may find you get a slew of emails for games that are in various states of being rescheduled, so only register for the DigitalSports email notifications if you don't mind a little noise with the notification emails.

Broadcasting Our Games   I am happy to announce that Zander Saionz, the Varsity team manager, will be scoring and broadcasting the Radnor Varsity games via the GameChanger App.  Note that this is different from the iScore app that was used the last several years because the Central League has standardized on using GameChanger because it has an automated link to post game information, including pitch counts, to the Max Preps web site.  The League has instituted a requirement that pitch counts be posted within 24 hours of a game on the Max Preps site. Like iScore, GameChanger allows one to enter everything that is happening in a game, pitch by pitch, and stream that out through the Internet.

Anyone interested in doing the same for JV or the Freshmen team, please let me (Gary - coheng@umich.edu) know, and I can point you in the right direction on how to get started with GameChanger.  As mentioned earlier, the Central League has established the standard to use GameChanger and to report pitch counts via MaxPreps.  If you are planning to attend all of the JV or Freshman games and wouldn’t mind keeping track of the game through GameChanger, you would really help out the JV and Freshman coaches out by using GameChanger and automating the reporting of the pitch counts.  The job can also be split up between different people if you can’t cover all the games by yourself.

Chili’s Pancake Breakfast

The Chili’s Pancake Breakfast is coming up next Sunday morning.  We know the players have been working hard to sell tickets to the breakfast.  Members of the Chili’s Breakfast committee will be stopping by at the end of the Varsity and JV games on Monday (if played) to collect money and ticket buyer lists from players.  We’ll have one final time to turn in money and ticket buyer lists on Friday after either practice or the Freshman team’s game.

We need all of the player’s lists, along with any money collected, by Friday so that we know who has bought tickets, including who has paid and who has not yet paid for the people working the door at Chili’s on Sunday morning.

Remember that there is a $50 cash prize for the three players who have sold the most tickets, so keep selling!

Mark your calendars for the following events:

Monday, March 27 - Pipeline Taco Fundraiser

Enjoy a great meal and help out the Radnor baseball program at the same time.  Go into Pipeline Taco (www.pipelinetaco.com, 165 E. Lancaster Avenue) any time tomorrow, mention "Radnor Baseball" when you order, and a portion of those sales will be donated to the Booster Club.  You can find a flyer for the fundraiser on the left-hand side of our website where this is a link labeled "Pipeline Taco Fundraiser".  What a great way to get dinner for the family after the Varsity and JV Central League opener against Marple, or after practice for the Freshman team!

Sunday, April 2 - Chili's Pancake Breakfast

This is another great fundraiser for the Booster Club and an easy way to get a hearty breakfast on a Sunday morning!  Chili's (www.chilis.com, 312 W. Lancaster Avenue) has again graciously allowed us to use their restaurant and provide us highly discounted breakfasts that we can sell to family members, friends, and neighbors who would love to eat some pancakes and help out the RHS baseball teams.   The freshmen in the Radnor baseball program will be taking care of serving the food to our customers and getting a chance to be the face of Radnor baseball to the community on this day.

All Radnor baseball players are expected to sell tickets to the breakfast to family members, friends, and neighbors.  Each player should strive to sell 10 tickets to the breakfast.  As a team, we are shooting to break last year’s count of 301 tickets.  Cash prizes go to the top three sellers.

For more information, please contact Shelby Frankel (safrankel69@gmail.com) or Dan DiLella (dmdilella@equuspartners.com).

2017 Season - Weekly RHS Baseball News - Week of March 19, 2017

March 19, 2017

Practice Schedule this week

Freshman Team

When practices can be held outside, freshman team practice will run from 2:45-4:45 PM.  On any inclement weather days (like the upcoming week is shaping up to be until the fields are playable), practice is right after school from 2:30-3:30 PM whenever possible.

Varsity/Junior Varsity Team

The Athletic Director is coordinating gym time request from all the spring sports teams at RHS, and will distribute the gym schedule for each team on Monday.  As soon as the gym schedule is announced, we will send out an email with practice schedule for the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams this week.

Also note that Varsity is scheduled to scrimmage with Shipley at the Shipley School on Tuesday afternoon.  That is still the official schedule, although field conditions at Shipley may mean that the scrimmage will be moved to a later day in the week (Thursday is most likely reschedule day).

Booster Dues

RHS Baseball Booster dues are $150/player and are now payable.  If you have not already sent in your dues payment, please make checks payable to "RHS Booster Club" and mail to:

Radnor Baseball Spirit Wear Online Store Closes On Tuesday

The Radnor Baseball spirit wear online store will be closing at the end of Tuesday evening.  This is a great opportunity to stock up on Radnor Baseball branded clothing, from t-shirts to shorts, sweatshirts to sweatpants, and everything in between.  A separate email will be sent out on Tuesday that allows you to view the items online and place an order.  The store is open for two more days, so don't waste any time in getting your order placed.  Delivery of the items will be a couple of weeks after the store closes.

Player Emails

While we seem to have most, if not all, families covered by one or more parental emails, we don't have emails for every player.  If your players are not receiving this email, it is because we do not have their email address in our mailing list.  We should have most, if not all, of the returning players in our mailing list, but for freshmen parents, please send me (coheng@umich.edu) your child's name and email address if you want them to receive the emails we send out, and I will add them to the mailing list.  The same goes for any returning players who are not currently receiving the email.  You can also request adding anyone to the mailing list through our www.radnorbaseball.com website.

Broadcasting Our Games   We have been fortunate the past several years to have someone broadcasting the Varsity baseball games through iScore, an app that allows one to enter everything that is happening in a game, pitch by pitch, and stream that out through the Internet.  This allows parents who are stuck at work during the games and out of town relatives and fans to follow along during a game so they don't miss out on the game action.  While we are still working out the details for this year's Varsity games, stay tuned for how to follow along with the iScorecast streaming of the games.  Anyone interested in doing the same for JV or the Freshmen team, please let me (Gary - coheng@umich.edu) know, and I can point you in the right direction on how to get start with iScore.

Monday, March 27 - Pipeline Taco Fundraiser

Enjoy a great meal and help out the Radnor baseball program at the same time.  Go into Pipeline Taco (www.pipelinetaco.com, 165 E. Lancaster Avenue) any time on Monday, March 27, mention "Radnor Baseball" when you order, and a portion of those sales will be donated to the Booster Club.

Congrats to all the players who are now members of one of the Radnor High School baseball teams.  We look forward to rooting you on as you take the field this season!

Radnor Baseball Spirit Wear Online Store Opening Tuesday

The Radnor Baseball spirit wear online store will be opening up on Tuesday.  This is a great opportunity to stock up on Radnor Baseball branded clothing, from t-shirts to shorts, sweatshirts to sweatpants, and everything in between.  A separate email will be sent out on Tuesday that allows you to view the items online and place an order.  The store will only remain open for a week, so don't waste any time in getting your order placed.

Saturday, March 18 - Parents Social at 6 PM at the home of Patty and Jeff Boujoukos (228 South Wayne Avenue, Wayne, PA)

This is a great chance to meet fellow baseball parents and get ready for the opening of baseball season!  Please bring your checkbook as there are some great sports-oriented items up for auction at the social, with proceeds benefitting the Radnor High School baseball program.  There will also be an opportunity to make donations to the Booster Club to further the support we give to the baseball program, including additional field improvements and supplemental purchases as requested by the coaching staff.

Wednesday, March 22 - Team Pasta Party at the RHS Cafeteria

Following up on our first year of getting the teams together to enjoy some pasta together from time to time after practice, we are going to have a couple of program-wide pasta parties at the school cafeteria after practice.  Stay on the lookout for an email shortly that provides more details and asks for volunteers to help cook pasta for the team, supervise the event, and perform setup and cleanup for the event.

Monday, March 27 - Pipeline Taco Fundraiser

Help Needed

Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to help us with one or more of our parent committees that allow us to conduct so many wonderful events and raise money for the RHS baseball program.

If you haven't yet volunteered to help on a committee, we have two committees who could use some additional volunteers as they organize their upcoming events.

If you are willing to help out in organizing and helping out at the Senior Recognition Day and BBQ (May 8, with rain date of May 10) and are not the parent of one of our program's senior players, please email Debbie Lofton at debbie.lofton@verizon.net to let her know you are willing to help.

If you are willing to help out with finding sponsors for our Annual Golf Outing, or helping out with the outing in any other fashion, please email Bill Moore (moores216@verizon.net) to let him know you are willing to help.
