INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
School Facilities
On a day when Harford County Public Schools (HCPS) would normally be in session, but closed for the day due to inclement weather or close early due to weather, all activities of Emmorton Recreation Council programs scheduled in the public schools will be cancelled. When schools close early or are closed on a Friday all indoor or outdoor activities will be cancelled for the entire weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
Anytime the Snow Emergency Plan is in effect, all programs including those in public schools and ERTC will be automatically cancelled.
ERTC
Anytime the Snow Emergency Plan is in effect, all Recreation Council activity in the Emmorton Recreation & Tennis Center will be cancelled. When the Snow Emergency Plan is NOT in effect, all Emmorton Recreation Programs can be cancelled at the discretion of the program chairpersons and/or the Department of Parks & Recreation staff. This rule will apply to excessive heat as well.
Also, volunteers/instructors/coaches may cancel their activity if they feel conditions warrant. However, volunteers/instructors/coaches cannot over ride a decision to cancel by the Department of Parks & Recreation staff or the Program’s board members and/or chairperson.
Safety Reminder
Even if activities are being conducted, it is ultimately an individual decision to determine if conditions are safe and suitable for travel. If you feel conditions are unsafe, please stay home, miss the practice or, cancel the game. Being safe is much more important than attending a Parks and Recreation activity.
