2023: Knights vs. Cubs

Champion: Cubs

World Series MVP: Sean Fahey

After a hectic postseason full of forfiets and shortened sereies due to unavailability and time contraints, it was agreed upon that the World Series would be a winner take all single game between the Knights and Cubs. The Knights ultimately forfeited the game after having unavailability issues, which gave the Cubs an automatic 3-0 forfeit win of the game. Sean Fahey was named World Series MVP for his performance in games six and seven of the semifinal series to bring the Cubs to the World Series which would eventually be what won the team their championship. 

 

2022: Knights vs. Zebras

Champion: Knights

World Series MVP: Matt Cahill

Due to time constraints on the season, the BWL initially shortened the World Series to a best of three series, before ultimately making the World Series a winner-take-all game. The Knights had home field advantage in the game as the higher seed. The Zebras led 1-0 after the first inning as Sean Whelton led off with a home run on the first pitch of the game, then pitched a scoreless bottom half of the inning. The Knights were able to hold the Zebras where they were on the scoreboard then rally for nine runs in the second inning behind Matt Cahill, who pitched a complete game and had seven RBI in the game, leading the Knights to a 9-1 victory.

 

2021: Zebras vs. Whales

Champion: Zebras

Series Score: 4-1

World Series MVP: Matt Cahill & Rob Evangelista

Coming off a loss in the World Series to the Knights the year before, the Zebras were able to roll through the regular season and playoffs to return once again. After adding Matt Cahill and Rob Evangelista to their roster, the Zebras finished the regular season 19-5 to secure the number one seed for the playoffs. The Zebras, like they did in the semifinal round, would win the World Series in five games to secure the franchise's second World Series Championship. Both Matt Cahill and Rob Evangelista would have great World Series performances to earn Co-World Series MVP honors. Cahill hit seven home runs and had two wins on the mound, while Rob Evangelista hit .514 at the plate with two wins on the mound, including a no-hitter in the final game. 

 

2020: Knights vs. Zebras

Champion: Knights

Series Score: 4-0

World Series MVP: Derek Graffeo

Rallying around their unfinished business from 2019, the Knights carried over their great regular season into the playoffs by completing postseason play undefeated. With strong contributions from all four of Matt Cahill, Derek Graffeo, Garrett Kingston, and Mike Polimeno, the Knights would score 40 runs in their four game sweep of the Zebras. Derek Graffeo would take home World Series MVP honors after a great pitching performance in game three and solid offense in the two games he played. 

 

2019: Knights vs. Cubs

Champion: Cubs

Series Score: 4-3

World Series MVP: Garrett Kingston

In what was the greatest World Series the league had ever seen in its 11 seasons, this was the first time the World Series had gone past five games. The Cubs would ultimately win a wild, eight inning extra innings battle in game seven. Led by Rookie of the Year Garrett Kingston, along with fellow rookie Ryne Rametta, and contributions from Taylor Proulx, the Cubs would win their fifth World Series Championship, the most for any team.

 

2018: Dodgers vs. Cubs

Champion: Dodgers

Series Score: 4-1

World Series MVP: Mike Polimeno

Coming off a hot finish to the regular season, the Dodgers would continue to roll in the playoffs. The duo of Mike Polimeno and Dean Miller was solid throughout the playoffs, with the team only losing two games during the postseason. Polimeno would cap off a fantastic season for both himself and the team with a walk off home run in game five to bring the Dodgers their first World Series Championship.

 

2017: Cubs vs. Savages

Champion: Cubs

Series Score: 4-0

World Series MVP: Travis MacMurdo

On the brink of elimination in the Opening Round, trailing by three runs and down to their final strike, David Miller hit a walk off grand slam that ignited the Cubs throughout the rest of the playoffs. They would sweep both the Giants in the Conference Finals and Savages in the World Series to win the team's fourth World Series, first since 2012. Travis MacMurdo dominated the series both on the mound with two wins and at the plate, and would be named the MVP of the series. 

 

2016: Knights vs. Savages

Champion: Knights

Series Score: 4-1

World Series MVP: Matt Fronduto

In a series where the Knights absolutely dominated, the team scored 25 runs over the five games of the series. Matt Fronduto would take home World Series MVP after solid pitching performance in his one start and great hitting in every game he played in. Travis MacMurdo and Matt Cahill were also extremely productive offensively as the Knights won in five games. 

 

2015: Powers vs. Knights

Champion: Knights

World Series MVP: Matt Cahill

In the last year of the double elimination tournament format, the Knights entered the playoffs as the number two seed behind the Powers, and dropped the first semi final game against the Powers, but would later face the team once again in the World Series. Led by Matt Cahill, the Knights won two straight games, including a no hitter in the final game, to repeat as World Series Champions. 

 

2014: Knights vs. Cubs

Champion: Knights

World Series MVP: Matt Cahill

Entering the playoffs as the number one seed, the Knights went 3-0 in the double elimination bracket, including a comeback win agains the Powers in the semifinals, Matt Cahill and Chad Boschetti were able to lead the Knights to their second World Series Championship.

 

2013: Powers vs. Knights

Champion: Powers

World Series MVP: Mike Polimeno

The Powers were able to bounce back after a disappointing 2012 playoff run and go 3-0 in the double elimination bracket. Led by Mike Polimeno, the Powers beat the Knights in the first round, the one seed Cubs in the second round, and the Knights once again in the World Series to win the team's first championship.

 

2012: Cubs vs. Knights

Champion: Cubs

World Series MVP: Riley Frost

Entering the double elimination playoffs as the third seed, the Cubs were able to best the two seed Knights and one seed Powers on their way to the World Series. Meeting the Knights again in the World Series, the Cubs lost the first game, but were able to win the second to repeat as World Series Champions.

 

2011: Cubs vs. Knights

Champion: Cubs

Series Score: 2-1 

World Series MVP: Riley Frost

The Cubs found themselves down 1-0 in the series after the Knights won game one on the round, but rallied back winning games two and three to win their second World Series Championship.

 

2010: Knights vs. Cubs

Champion: Knights

Series Score: 2-1 

World Series MVP: Matt Cahill

After losing in 2009, the Knights bounced back to win in 2010. The Knights won game one, then lost game two, but were able to win the decisive game three over the Cubs to win the World Series. 

 

2009: Knights vs. Cubs

Champion: Cubs

Series Score: 2-0 

World Series MVP: Riley Frost

In the best of three series, the Cubs won the first two games, including a walk off home run in game two, to sweep the Knights and win the World Series.
