The Lamar Hornets, formerly known as the Green Hornets, is a non-profit organization that has and continues to conquer the test of times. This franchise, organized in the late 1960's has touched upon five decades and is yet going strong. The Hornets were part of the original eight teams forming the Texas Gulf Coast League and is currently one of the sixteen teams in the Fort Bend Youth Football League.

The Hornets' mission is to provide a venue for all boys and girls, ages 5 - 12, to participate in a football and cheerleading program for a nominal registration fee. Accordingly, the Hornets have a history of being an excellent feeder program for the local junior and senior high school programs. In addition, the Hornets have had several former players to compete at the collegiate and professional levels.

Several of the Hornets' coaches and other volunteers have been with the organization for many years, and with some, no end in sight. The Hornets maintain a simple philosophy, "All kids have various degrees of abilities. As their coaches, we must provide the necessary instructions for them to enhance their skills and get them to believe in themselves". The Hornets' organization prides itself in living by this philosophy.

Anything less is unacceptable.

Go Hornets!!!
