Mission Statement

It is the manager's responsibility to see that each player is aware and agrees that there are certain inherent dangers and risks involved in playing and participating in the BQFL Football League. All players must realize that they may be exposed to possible injury in connection with participation in the sport. All players are to be notified that the BQFL Football League , the affiliated facilities, affiliated teams, and any staff members will not be held responsible for injuries.

Referee Code Of Conduct

Referees are also to check the league’s website periodically to update themselves on all stories and events happening in and around the BQFL.

Communication: Able to convey a message to get a point across; communicates in a clear and concise manner

Attention to Detail: Able to find errors in work and solve problems; anticipates issues and performs at a high level of accuracy; sets up systems to ensure errors are not repeated.

Accountability: Follows through on commitments; focuses on appropriate tasks throughout the shift; takes responsibilities for actions both as an individual and on behalf of the organization; actions and words are in sync; follows all policies and procedures; maintains confidentiality; is prepared and punctual to all scheduled games that are being officiated.

Sound Judgment: Able to make a decision based on the right mixture of facts; determines a course of action after weighing and analyzing different options.

1. Referees must be free of obligation to any interest other than the impartial and fair judging of football games. Without equivocation, game decisions which are slanted by personal bias are dishonest
and unacceptable.
2. Display fairness and uniformity in applying the rules.
3. Be honest in your assessment of situations.
4. Be consistent and courteous in calling all infractions.
5. Use common sense to ensure the ‘spirit of the game’ is maintained and it is not lost by being too pedantic when applying the rules.
6. Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances.
7. Do not engage in physical intimidation, abuse or conduct toward any player, coach, administrator, other referee or supporter.
8. Referees recognize that anything which may lead to a conflict of interest, either real or apparent, must be avoided. Gifts, favors, special treatment, privileges, employment or a personal relationship with a team
which can compromise the perceived impartiality of officiating must be avoided.
9. Referees have an obligation to treat other referees with professional dignity and courtesy and recognize that it is inappropriate to criticize them publicly.
10. Referees have a responsibility to continuously seek self-improvement through study of the game, rules, rule or interpretation changes, mechanics and the techniques of game management. They have a responsibility to accurately represent their qualifications and abilities when requesting or accepting game assignments.
11. Display high standards of behavior and appearance.
12. Referees shall not be party to actions designed to unfairly limit or restrain access to officiating, game assignments or association membership. This includes selection for positions of leadership based upon
economic factors, race, creed, color, age, sex, physical handicap, country or national origin.
