  • Discussion on discounts for multi-player families. $25 of second player/$50 off third player *voted-approved

  • Discussion on obtaining a cell phone for the league to use for a Venmo account. Jason Colemen will be looking into this for the league. *voted-approved

  • Discussion on fees for the upcoming 2022 season. Need to increase due to the cost of supplies going up. *voted-approved

  • Discussion of late fees. Registration to open 1/10(?) and will run through 3/6. Effective 3/7 there will be a $25 late fee applied. *voted-approved

  • Evaluations scheduled for 3/12 with 3/13 as a rain date. Location will be Scott Park. **tentative times**

  • Discussion about Allstars

    • Ralph Garzia Tournament

      • Fees will need to be raised if no tournament

      • Need a tournament organizer-lots of work, 4 week commitment, lots of emails

      • 6 age groups : 6U, 7U, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11-12U

        • Discussion on combining 11-12 age group due to numbers.(needs board approval)

        • Discussion on try out to figure out numbers for teams

          • 5/15 : 6U 2pm-3pm Field 4, 7U 2pm-3pm Rookie Field, 8U 3PM-4PM Rookie Field, 9U 2PM-3PM Minor Field, 10U 3PM-4PM, 11-12U 2PM-3PM

      • Need to pick coaches

      • Teams picked by 5/17 and then uniforms ordered ASAP after that

      • Snack bar coordinator is very important

      • Jason Colemen volunteered to be director with help from others

  • 8:00 Rookie Meeting(Google Meet) - board members invited to discussion

    • Needs to be better communication between coaches during the game. Should be confirming stats and informatio between innings.

  • Proposed spending $100 on Sam’s Club Membership(board approved)

  • Discussion on clinics for players 7-9 for transition from Rookies to Minors(tabled for later discussion)

  • Treasurer report

  • Confirmation of sponsor $ received and signs that still need to be ordered. West Branch baking asked to be a sponsor. 

  • Equipment orders to be approved:

    • Additional catchers mits(various sizes)- approved

    • 3 “L” screens- approved

    • Additional tees- approved

  • Discussion about shed for Teener field. Needs borough approval. Email needs to be sent. Additional discussion table for a later meeting.

  • Lindsay McMahon voted and approved as the “interim” Snack Bar coordinator.

  • Fees to be approved:

    • Umpire fees($1600) for the Teener division - approved

  • League complaint about mask wearing. Discussion about mask wearing requirements and location of where spectators can stand during games.  

  • Uniform issues have been resolved. 

    • Rookie team needed whole new set up uniforms. 

    • Tball needed two uniforms ordered for two players missing a uniform.

    • Invoice to be paid for additional uniforms - approved

  • Picture day is 4/24. Photographer has asked that coaches handle positioning of players since they have rapport. If raining, pictures will be in the clubhouse.

  • Discussion on closing ceremonies 6/5/2021 - table to future meeting

  • Door to the snack bar at the teener field does not work. Borough will be notified

  • Estimates for Go Green field maintenence. $400 per field for the whole year for 3 fields at Scott Park. Will get estimate for Durkin Field.

  • COVID guidelines have been sent to Brookhaven Rec Board.

  • Walk through completed with the borough.

  • Tball will be required to wear masks at all times.

  • Board approved uniform shirts for players and coaches. Comes with 1 color, sponsor, and 1 number.

  • Board approved the purchase of safety supplies for the field.

  • Board approved purchase of porta-potty for Scott Park.

  • Discussion on food truck event for fundraiser/raffle. Need to speak with the borough about the ability to hold the event.  

  • Next Brookhaven Rec Board meeting will be held the last Thursday of March.

  • Tball has secured enough coaches.

  • Discussion about Majors division and playing other local leagues.



  • Current Numbers as of 3/9/2021:

    • Tball : 52

    • Rookies: 46

    • Minors: 53

    • Majors: 32

  • 273 registered last year. Current number is at 226 as of 3/9/2021.

  • Discussion on strike out rules for Rookie Division-

    • For the 1st 3 weeks have players hit off the tee after 3 strikes.  This will build confidence and help the fielders get some more practice.

  • Teeners discussion on coaches and players for the upcoming season.  Currently at 43 players. Evaluations need to be scheduled.  

    • Tentative date March 21st: ages 13-14 @ 11pm-12pm and ages 15-16 @ 12:15-1:15

  • Rookies, Minors, Majors evaluations are this Saturday.

  • Covid Waivers and Guidelines will be emailed ASAP. Printed copies will be available at evaluations to sign.

  • JR and Jason have discussed the most updated bank statements.

  • Discussion about funds for the snack bar.

  • Based on field check there should be enough catchers equipment for each field.

  • JR to order 3 additional tees, a few more bases for the minors, and some additional catchers equipment.

  • Intro to Board members present and league president

  • Treasurer report - cash on hand amounts

  • Discussion on expectations treatment of volunteers - Be respectful

  • Announcement by JR that masks are not required when players are on the field but will be required everywhere else. 

  • Introductions of Covid waiver and how it will be distributed to the league participants.Waiver will be emailed to all that register after registration ends around 3/8. Waiver will also be provided at evaluations on 3/14.

  • Discussion on the board’s decision on playing down. As discussed by the board, playing down is not recommended based on divisions being capped. You must attend evaluations to decide if a player is able to play down.

  • There will be 1 in person registration at Coccos March 4 from 6-8. 

  • There will be a Teeners meeting on Monday at Coccos.



  • We are capping the divisions this year 

    • Tball - 8 players

    • All other - 10 players

  • Games will be played Mon-Fri. This will leave the weekends for practice and make up games.

  • No parade in April. Planning to move to the end of the season and have it in June. 

  • Trying to get back to as normal as possible to make sure the kids can get out and play.

  • Evaluations are set for 3/13 if weather permits.  Make ups will be done accordingly.

  • Public questions:

    • Limitations on visitors for games? - no limitation at this time

    • Is there a need for snack bar volunteers? - yes, always. Talk with Sandy.

    • BBR masks? Sandy is going to contact the merchandise company to see if these can be purchased. Possibly used as a fundraiser.

  • Discussion on clearances. Background checks all done through Babe Ruth. All volunteers that will have contact with players must complete clearances. Coaches need to complete the coaching certification as well. Contact Tarryn to find out if clearances are needed.

  • Announcement to coaches to keep an eye out for Allstar players so that tryouts can happen a bit earlier.

  • JR attending rec board meeting tomorrow @7

  • General BBR meeting tomorrow @ 8

  • Board voted to provide $125 senior awards to 3 seniors. All played 4-16 in the league.

  • Discussion of proposed Covid waiver and how the board stands to protect the league and the players.

  • Waiver will be emailed to all that register after registration ends around 3/8. Waiver will also be provided at evaluations on 3/14.

  • JR is working with the borough to set up safety zones at the field.

  • Discussion on masks not being required on the field for the players.

  • Games will be held M-F for ages 6-12. This will allow weekends for makeup games and practices.

  • Point of contact for any positive Covid cases will be the coach. The coach will need to communicate with the board so that proper procedures can be taken. 

  • Discussion of catchers equipment. The league will attempt to have two sets of catchers equipment per field and a can of sanitizer to clean the equipment.

  • Borough is planning on supplying hand sanitizers for the league.

  • Discussion of using something to hang equipment on the field.

  • Player caps : Tball-8, Rookies/Minors/Majors-10

  • No parade at the beginning of the year. Plan is to have a parade at the end of the season in June. 

  • Picture day is set for 4/24. No team pictures. More details to come.

  • There will be one in person registration at Coccos March 4.

  • Voted on $100 donation to the Hughes family and Vasquez family.

·         Start at 7:02p

·         Prepare to cancel after the governors speech on June 4

·         Could possibly lose kids to vacations once stay at home is lifted, also may lose kids to football and soccer if they’re able to get started.

·         We haven’t purchased uniforms, so we can refund people 100% if it comes to that. 

·         Can offer refund or carry over to next season, but that may be a logistical nightmare to keep track of.

·         Buy jackets for 12 year olds, not to exceed $80 each – APPROVED

·         Mike working on collecting sizes for jackets

·         Do something for 12 year olds on opening day next season since they miss out on the closing ceremonies this year - APPROVED

·         Donate to the Gary Drais family, who passed away suddenly.  $250 - APPROVED

·         May need to donate to the McGinnis family

·         Senior awards - $100 to 4 people.  APPROVED

·         Meet again after Memorial Day Weekend

Wrote once check to Stenitis Landscaping for $138 – Scoreboard installation

·         Scoreboard cost the league $3000 – donations covered the rest

·         Currently have $3700 in the snack bar account (separate from league funds)

·         Voted to approve charter payment

·         Currently negotiating with Top Lumber for cage time

o   Waiting for date confirmation

o   5-6 1.5 hour sessions

o   Trying for some weekend dates

o   Open to all ages Rookie+

·         Registration opens 1/6

o   No increase in registration fees for 10th year

o   In person dates pending – 2/8, 22, 26 & 29

·         Opening Day 4/6

·         2019 total season cost was $85k, which was a $7k decrease from 2018

·         Durkin field needs to be rolled due to erosion

·         Left a message for Top Lumber about using their batting cages again during preseason

·         Possibility of a Teener League – there is a meeting in early December to discuss

o   First few weeks would only have games on weekends due to school leagues

o   Needs a flyer to go home with elementary school students

o   Possibly set up a Venmo for an additional payment option? Could also be used for snack bar payment
