Blue Thunder is a private, not for profit youth organization that partners with the City of Columbia Parks & Recreation department.  We teach the fundamentals of track & field to youth ages 6-18.  We push our athletes to compete at the highest level that they can.  The club is a member of both the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the USA of Track & Field (USATF) which is the governing body for track & field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States.

Through hard work, team bonding, and lots of fun, we promote success on and off the track.  Practices are held three times a week during the spring and summer.  Members participate in local meets such as the Hershey Track & Field Program, Columbia Track Club summer meets, and the Show-Me State Games.  Additionally we compete in AAU & USATF sanctioned meets out of town.  

Our athletes are prepared to compete in:
~ 100m, 200m, 400m Dashes
~ 800m, 1500m, 3000m Runs
~ 4x100m, 4x400m, 4x800m Relays
~ Sprint & Intermediate Hurdles
~ 1500m, 3000m Race Walks

~ Shot Put, Discus, Javelin Throws
~ Long Jump, Triple Jump & High Jump
~ Multi-Events (Triathlon, Pentathlon, Heptathlon, Decathlon)

~ Pole Vault (If coaching is available)

Members may also participate on a regional Cross Country team which competes in the fall months from September - November.  Cross country season has a registration fee separate from the outdoor season registration fee.

The club conducts fundraising efforts throughout the year to cover operational and travel costs.  The membership fee of $110 includes a club T-Shirt, an AAU membership and entry to unlimited approved AAU or USATF events.
