Coach Ron Bigelow held the school's career coaching victories record for over 60 years after his retirement.

Bigelow, who also coached the football and baseball teams, as well as serving as the school's principal, led the Panther basketball team to 193 victories and only 54 losses from 1933 to 1946

Mt. Morris won six Genesee County League Championships under Bigelow's leadership ('33, '34, '35, '36, '37, '43).

Bigelow's teams also claimed 5 District Championships during his tenure as coach.

During the 2007-08 season, Ron Bigelow's 61 year old record fell to long-time coach, Randy Long.

Coach Long, who graduated from Mt. Morris High School while Bigelow was still serving as the principal, is a true Panther. After his graduation from Central Michigan University, Long returned to Mt. Morris, where he worked as a teacher in the district and raised his family.

Long took over the reigns of the boys basketball program during the 1986-87 season. Under Long's direction, Mt. Morris climbed out of the cellar of the Flint Metro League to become a consistent contender.

In 1989-90, the Panthers won a school record - 16 games. The 1993-94 Panthers claimed a District title for the first time since 1975. The following season, the 94-95 team triumphantly claimed Mt. Morris' first and only Flint Metro League Title. Long helped to solidify Mt. Morris as one of the Flint Metro League's winningest programs during the 1990s. The Panthers also claimed a Genesee Area Conference - Red Division championship, in 2002-03, under Long's guidance.

Long surrounded himself with excellent coaches, whom helped greatly in the success of the program. Mike Perry, Rick Pickens, and Nick Pagogna served as assistant coaches under Long over the years and established themselves as staples of the basketball program and Mt. Morris community.

Randy Long retired from coaching after the 2007-08 season, with a final tally of 200 victories. He ranks 7th all-time in the Flint Metro League with 110 career victories in league play.

Mt. Morris' all-time leading scorer is Scott Winterlee (c/o 1989).

Winterlee, who was an outstanding three-sport athlete for the Panthers, scored 1,133 points over his three-year varsity career.

During his senior season, Winterlee averaged a school record 23.4 points per game. He also holds the career scoring average record at 17.7 points per game. Winterlee received 2nd Team All-State honors as a senior.

As well as holding school records, Winterlee also held the Flint Metro League's Scoring Record from 1989 until the 1992-93 season and still ranks 3rd on the Metro's all-time scoring list.

After graduation, Winterlee attended the University of Michigan on an athletic scholarship, where he played baseball. Scott lettered at Michigan 4 times and started at shortstop for the Wolverines for 3 seasons. He was U of M's team MVP in 1991. In 1992, Winterlee was selected to the NCAA All-American Team (3rd Team).

Following his baseball career at Michigan, Winterlee was drafted by the New York Mets in the 29th round 1993 MLB Amatuer Draft.

Scott Winterlee was inducted into the Mt. Morris Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.
