About T.A.A.F. Track and Field

The T.A.A.F. has outdoor track and field events. Outdoor events are divided into regional and state/national levels. Athletes compete against others of their gender in their age group. Age groups are divided in Six levels, with the youngest at eight years and under, and the eldest at eighteen years of age:
8 years of age and under
10 years of age and under
12 years of age and under
14 years of age and under
16 years of age and under
18 years of age and under
A boy or girl must participate in only one age division. Participants must participate either in their age division or they may participate in an older age division, however, once the participant has moved up into an older age division they must compete in all events in that same age division.

T.A.A.F. State Track & Field qualification begins at the local level with the track athlete being registered thru their member city track team, affiliate track team or as an unattached athlete. Circuit meets, depending on region, are available to the athlete for practice. The T.A.A.F. registered athlete must qualify thru regional competition (the region in which they live). Once the athlete qualifies at region level, he or she advances to the T.A.A.F. State Track Meet held at the T.A.A.F. Summer Games of Texas.
Each athlete must be a registered T.A.A.F. member or in an approved T.A.A.F. team member in order to compete. Athletes can either compete as part of team or as individual or 'unattached' status. Registration at events requires a T.A.A.F. membership card or card number. Registration costs a small fee annually.
