Phantoms 1st Ever Winners of Green Mountain Shootout!
Taken from a summary of the weekend from the Green Mountain Jamboree coordinator, Mike Sheets.
On behalf of all of the players, coaches, parents, and volunteers of the Middlebury Youth lacrosse Club, we thank you for braving the weather to participate.
This year we have a tournament winner! Since the long tradition of the GMSO dictates 'the team who has the most fun wins', we have clear evidence St. Albans U13 Boys won! All 55 other teams were tied for a very close second place finish.
The GMSO was clinched at the end of the day on Sunday when 3 brave St Albans laxer's took a running 10 yard belly slide through the massive mud puddle in front of the near crease on Field 2. It was that little bit of extra effort that put the St Albans team over the top! Winning Coach Pete Shuttle (actually Mike Konrad) said of his team extra hustle, "you just can't coach that stuff !" Unfortunately, their nice bright orange jerseys will never be the same....
The Phantoms also won the Northern Vermont Youth Lacrosse League title with a win over Harwood at Middlebury College.
