Pop Warner Spirit teams have participated for several decades on the football sidelines (Pep Squads, Majorettes, etc.); however, cheerleading was not officially introduced until the 1970’s.

Today, thousands of youth participate in Pop Warner Cheerleading and Dance teams around the United States.

The Cheer and Dance Program offers teams a wide range of opportunity for young athletes at all skill levels: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. 

Pop Warner has established one set of spirit rules along with JAMZ, the Pop Warner Education Development Partner and the original developer of the Youth Cheer and Dance Alliance (YCADA).  

Together with YCADA, Pop Warner is able to provide online educational courses for its coaches, administrators and judges on team skill levels for Cheer Teams (PW 1, 2, 3 & 4) and for Dance Teams (Pom Performance & Theme Dance).

With continued education, the Pop Warner Coaching Staff provides basic instruction, training and conditioning for both football games and competition.

Teams participate on the sidelines at football games for home and most away games through to the Pop Warner Super Bowl. In addition to Game Day, teams participate in qualifying spirit events (League and Region) through to a Pop Warner National Championship.

The Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships (started in 1988) are now held in December located in ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida.

Thank you for signing your child up for the 2017 Pop Warner North Port Mustangs season of tackle football and cheer. If you haven’t yet there is still time. Below are just a few updates and reminders that you will need to know.  Please be sure to always check the website or our Facebook page.

 

Original birth certificates will be ready on July 15^th you can pick them up at any sign up date located on the website or at parent orientation.  If you need it earlier please email me at AMLIDINSKY@HOTMAIL.COM

Although all paperwork needs to be turned in by August 1^st to be able to take the field we ask you to PLEASE turn it all in by or at the parent orientation as the football and cheer books take a lot of time to complete.

Final payments need to be made by August 1^st, please see NICOLE SWAIN if you have any questions about this at parent orientation.

·         Keep a copy of your child’s last report card with all 4 quarters on it.  This will need to be turned in by August 1^st.  You may bring it to any of our sign ups as well.

·         Teams are filling up fast so tell all your friends to sign up

Practice starts August 1^st your coaches will be contacting you times and practice location on the field as soon as we can. REMEMBER WE DO PRACTICE 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR A SHORT TIME AS REQUIRED BY POP WARNER FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR KIDS

We hope to get an accurate game schedule the first week of practice.

·         Cheer cost include- bow, bloomers, cheer shorts, cheer shirt, competition shoes, use of game and competition uniforms, and the cheer off at Germain Arena in October.  Regional and National dates will be released at your individual team parent meeting  after August 1^st.
