ABOUT OUR DIVISIONS AND FAQS:

6U Division: (Birthdays between September 2016 and August 2019)
Our youngest division is all about fun and learning how to be on a team. Coaches pitch and if the player can’t make contact, then a tee is brought out to guarantee the player gets on base. There are no outs, e
very player hits every inning and they all play in the field. 6U is a great way to start to learn the basics.

8U Division: (Birthdays between September 2014 and August 2016)
In 8U, the emphasis is on having fun, while learning the rules of the game. The focus is placed on basic, but proper fielding, throwing, and hitting technique. Players will get to try a variety of positions throughout the season. It’s a combination of kid-pitch and coach pitch.

10U Division: (Birthdays between September 2012 and August 2014)
In 10U we continue to add on more rules of the game, while still emphasizing fun. We’ll continue to hone those fielding, throwing and hitting techniques. In this league the girls pitch 100% of the time and we introduce the concepts of sliding.

12U Division: (Birthdays between September 2010 and August 2012)
This division emphasizes honing the fundamentals and learning game situation strategies. Players may focus more on certain positions at this level and really develop skills and strategies for success.

14U/16U Division: (14U: Birthdays between September 2008 and August 2010, 16U: Birthdays between September 2006 and August 2008)
This division follows rules nearly identical to high school softball. We really work on executing those fundamentals and further the knowledge of situational strategies. This is where players hone their skills to prepare them for high school ball. More advanced skills such as drag & slap bunts are taught at this level of play.

Can I request that my child play in a different division?

You can make a request for your child to play in a different division, but we cannot guarantee that spot. For tournament play, kids may not be older than the division they qualify for.

Where and when do we practice?
All practices take place at Laguna Middle School (1050 Los Osos Valley Rd, SLO). For most divisions, practices are 1x per week. Depending on field availability, upper divisions may have a 2nd weekly practice. Our season traditionally starts before daylight savings time, so we often have to adjust our practice times a few weeks into the season. Practice days will be determined by your coach and what days/times are available.

Where and when do we play?
Games take place all over the county. Home games will be played at Laguna Middle School, but can be played from Paso Robles to Grover Beach. All divisions have one game on Saturdays and then 8U, 10U, 12U, 14/16U will have an additional mid-week game. The day of this game will vary by division and week. There is an end-of-season tournament that will take place after the last league game. The tournament will be a fun-filled weekend of games Friday through Sunday.

What equipment does my child need?

SLOGSA will provide balls, bats, helmets and jerseys to each team. Each player will need to provide their own glove, cleats and black baseball pants for game days. Most teams will coordinate socks, but that is up to your coach. We do recommend having a black long sleeve shirt to use under your jersey. Jackets are not allowed to be worn over a jersey during game play. Optional equipment includes having your own bat and helmet. If you do provide your own helmet, please make sure it has a face shield on it. Helmets without a face sheild are illegal to use during games. We also highly recommend the use of a face shield in the field as it provides more confidence and safety.

Can I request which team my child plays on?
You can make requests, but we will not guarantee any placements.

When is registration?
Registration will open in November and end in January.

How long is the season?
Practices will start early March, with the first games in mid-March and will go through early May. Once we get our schedules finalized, you'll hear from your coach on exact dates.

Are there all stars?
Yes! We’ve had our Fusion All Star Softball program for many years. If you are interested in trying out, we’ll be sending more information towards the end of our season. All Star teams play in several tournaments throughout the summer.

Do you have a fall ball league?
We do not have our own fall ball league, but if you are interested in putting together a SLO team, you can compete in the Paso Robles fall ball league.
