What is offered?

Spring City American Legion baseball offers three teams:

•   Senior Legion for Ages 19 and under
•   Jr. Legion for Ages 16 and under
•   Prep for Age 14 and under

Who is eligible?

You must live in the Spring-Ford Area School district.  Even though you may attend private or parochial schools, you are eligible to play Spring City Legion baseball.

When are tryouts?

Registration will open an January 1 and will be open until tryouts.  Tryouts typically are on a weekend in the beginning of April.  Registered players will be contacted with specific dates and times of tryouts. 

 Who are we?

Spring City American Legion Baseball is considered one of the best, affordable, and most competitive summer baseball programs in the nation.  Legion baseball has been playing continuously since 1925 and Spring City has been fielding a team since 1951.  Spring City is often covered by the local newspapers and media outlets.  You are coached by a college caliber staff, on high caliber fields, and uniformed in pro caliber uniforms, playing in the most competitive leagues in Pennsylvania.

Where do we play?

Spring City Legion baseball games are played at Spring-Ford High School Ram Stadium, Spring-Ford JV field, and Spring-Ford 7^th Grade Center field

Travel?

Most of the league play is in the greater Southeastern PA area.  Parents of the Prep and Jr. Legion teams are expected to provide transportation to all games and practices.  Sr. Legion players may drive themselves to games and practices.  Each team may attend tournaments that may be out of state or in another part of the state.  These trips may require the team to stay in hotels.  The cost of the rooms is provided by the organization.  Meals, transportation, and family accommodations are the family’s responsibility.

Preparing for the next level

One of SCALB’s goals is to prepare each player on all teams for the next level.  Players who have the desire and ability to play at the next level will receive the guidance and coaching to enter college programs.  Practices and game preparation follow college formats. 

Players are permitted to attend a limited number of showcases during the season.  This should be discussed with team manager.

Since 1988, SCALB has seen a large number of players advance to the following:

       Minor League

       Division I, II, III

       NAIA Division I

       Junior College

SCALB has consistently participates in the post season for county and state playoffs with several appearances in the state and national championships.  With consistent playoff appearances, players gain additional exposure to scouts and college coaches.
