Smithsburg Little Sluggers June Meeting Minutes

 

•       Attendees:  Laurie Shifler, Nick, Steve Pittsnogle, Greg Smith, •       Lori Miller, Bob Hahn, Jeff Davis, Angela Bohnmilk

 

 

•       Meeting was held at Smithsburg Fire Hall on June 7, 2023 at 6 pm

 

•      Announcements: Jeff Davis wants to speak and then has to leave.  

 

•      Approve of Minutes:

Meeting minutes were approved for May, Greg made a motion to approve and was 2^nd by Steve.

 

•       Treasure’s report:

Steve made a motion to approve the Treasure’s report and was 2^nd by Nick.

Kerry has submitted 2 more forms that still need done for are charitable status and then we should be ok. Currentlyall bills are paid and  $1,287 is our balance.

•      Player Agent:

Nick and Laurie are working on All-stars, currently we unsure if we will have 8u, looks as 10u will have to be 12u in order to get enough players to have a combined team. 

 

•      Sponsorship & Fundraising Committee:

Due to low funds Jeff Davis said he would help with All star uniforms. 

 

•       Concession Committee:

Laurie is working on getting checks to people whom have fulfilled their 2 shifts in concession stand. If they are not pickup by Friday June 16^th they will be shredded and anyone that has not worked those checks will be deposited.

•      Old Business:

1.     Stepahina Lida voted in to be new Treasurer. 1^st by Nick and 2^nd by Greg. 

 

•       New Business:

1.   Jeff Spoke being mid Atlantic region of Babe ruth spoke on behalf of not merging with Valley. He then spoke on his personal reasons. 

2.  Nick, Laurie, Greg all agree they would like to see what Valley has to offer has numbers have been dropping for years, 2020 -206 players, 2021- 183 players, 2022- 165 players, 2023- 138 players with No Babe Ruth team. 

3.   We will be getting rid of Sports engine as soon as all things are moved over to league line up. They are $99 a year and sports engine is $76 a month. We do not have the funds to keep this. 

4.  Hit A thon is coming to together, we will have trophies/thirts to see what we are missing, Champs hats are in to give out at games. Softball will be given at closing as they all ready had there champship games. League will provide hot dogs, hamburger and water or fountain drinks. 

5.   Mayor Sounders is going work Concession stand one take next week. 

6.  We have stopping paying for mowing as we do not have the funds to pay for this. 

7.  Mace and Jl Davis mangers do not want to Manger 8u Allstars so Max the manager of Phil and Jerrys is next in line to coach, will reach out to him. 

8.  Next meeting will be 2^nd week of July due to July 4^th.
