Key Dates:
April 23 - Applications must be received by Gene Pool by 5pm CST at 2716 Wolf Creek Drive, Lucas Texas 75002
April 28 - Committee review complete
May 5 - Final ranking complete
May 8 - Present winners at Year End Banquet
Submitting the Application
Once the Application Form is completed, Applicants will be asked to seal their application in an 8.5 x 11” envelope and submit to the LDC Treasurer at 2716 Wolf Creek Drive, Lucas Texas 75002. In addition to the Application Form, each Applicant is required to provide two associated documents in their sealed envelope:

Current copy (at time of Application) of their LHS transcript

Letter of Recommendation. This should NOT be a family member; immediate or extended
The LDC Treasurer will log the Application Forms and associated documents as received and turn the sealed envelopes over to the identified Program Facilitator.
Awards: 3 Scholarships will be awarded ($2,500, $1,500 and $1,000)
Eligibility/Application Criteria:
The application criteria provided in this document is a guideline to be used by the LDC Scholarship Selection Committee as referenced in the process document for the given school year. These guidelines are to be used for evaluating the applications submitted by each individual and providing for a thorough assessment of the applicant qualifications against these guidelines.
Overall
- Application is received on time by the Program FacilitatParent(s) must have been LDC members for each year that applicant was a member of the LHS baseball program
- Applicant was a member of the LHS baseball program for a minimum of two years; AND is a rostered member of the program as a senior for the entire spring season
Baseball Participation
- Must have been a member of the LHS baseball program for a minimum of two years (JV and/or Varsity level, or formal role as part of the program)
College
- Must be planning on attending college (2 year, 4 year or Trade), or;
- Planning on military service
Academic
- Minimum GPA – 3.00 (using LHS internal, standard scale)
- Direct path to graduation in the spring session immediately following Application
Extracurricular
- It is desired that the applicant will have participated in a minimum of one additional school or club activity outside of baseball
Good standing
- Will exemplify the behaviors and adhere to the requirements as provided in the LHS Graduate Profile and Student Code of Conduct
- This program represents a “body” of work for the individual, so a four year view is used when evaluating the Application, however, any academic or other suspensions will be included in considering the overall Application
Essay
- Essays will meet the required length
- Essay will be judged based on quality of writing, overall message, and subjective measures as deemed appropriate by the committee
