Part-time Travel
- Late January - February each year
- In the batting cages
- Player evaluations for hitting, fielding, throwing and pitching are done by the OFBA Board.
- Age levels;
- 8U – player must play 2nd year Pinto In-house
- 9U – player must play 1st year Mustang In-house
- 10U – player must play 2nd year Mustang In-house
- 11U – player must play 1st year Bronco In-house
- 12U – player must play 2nd year Bronco In-house
- 13U – player must play 1st year Pony In-house
- 14U - player must play 2nd year Pony In-house
Manager Selection
- Intent letter submitted to OFBA Board before February.
- OFBA Board will interview and select Manager prior to the try-out.
- Manager will be present at the try-outs and will select the team.
- March - Team Practice begins in the Batting cages.
- April through June – Games on Wednesdays and Sundays. In-house games are not scheduled on these days.
- July - reserved for tournaments
- Travel to local Chicagoland towns to play other Part-time travel teams.
- Limited number of games to protect the young players arms from injury.
Full-time Travel
All players who participate in Full-time travel do not play in-house baseball, part-time travel or July all-stars. The emphasis for full-time travel will be on the development of the players to play against other very competitive travel teams, the enjoyment of the game and to be ready for high school baseball.
- Late July or early August each year
- Player evaluations for hitting, fielding, throwing and pitching are done by the OFBA Board.
- Age levels;
- The Full-Time Travel Blue Demons must consist of OFBA players for age groups 9, 10, 11 and 12. A team may recruit up to 2 non OFBA players to fill the team.
- 13U – Open tryout, but 50% of players must have played in OFBA the previous season.
- 14U – Open tryout, but 50% of players must have played in OFBA the previous season.
- Intent letter submitted to OFBA Board before August.
- OFBA Board will interview and select Manager prior to the try-out.
- Manager will be present at the try-outs and will select the team.
- August through October - Team Practice outside (at Managers discretion).
- November through March – Team Practice in the batting cages.
- 9U - 12U - Play 45 – 55 games and travel to other baseball organization and play against very competitive full-time travel teams.
- Some out of state/overnight travel to tournaments.
- 12U - team will travel to Cooperstown, New York and play in the Cooperstown Dream Park tournament.
- Extensive Fundraising will be done to travel to Cooperstown.
- 13U & 14U - Play 50 – 60 games and travel to other local baseball organizations and play against very competitive full-time travel teams.
- Some out of state/overnight travel to tournaments.
