Born in Valdosta, Georgia in 1975, David Jonathan Drew, (known as J.D. Drew), is a left-handed hitting outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
J.D. didn’t take up baseball until the age of 13. He attended Florida State University, where in his freshman year he became the first player to hit three home runs in a single College World Series game. He went on to win numerous awards during his years there, including the 1997 Golden Spikes Award given to the country’s top amateur. J.D. also broke 17 school and conference records while at Florida State.
In 1998, J.D. began his major league career playing with the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2003, he was traded to the Atlanta Braves where he had the best season of his career. In December of 2004, J.D. signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Having grown up going to church, J.D. became a Christian at the age of 16. He aspires to use his talents as a baseball player to glorify God, and he hopes that others will see his commitment to Christ both on and off the field. J.D. married his wife, Sheigh, in 2001 and they have one child, Jack David.
