NBC opens the season on Tuesday against Cinnaminson. The hounds lost one starter to graduation, Tori Bowen. As the captain, Tori was able to instill in the young chicks a passion for the game. T-Bow will be missed as the hounds open their 2018 season. The team worked hard during the off-season and became regular fixtures in the weight room. The vigorous workouts will surely pay dividends during the season. Speaking of the season, this promises to be the most challenging one in years as the schedule is filled with teams that are considered the premier ones in the area. Last year the hounds were able to sneak up on teams under the cover of a group of inexperienced players who were just starting their varsity careers. This year will be one where the dawgs are no longer considered pups. This team is seen by many pundits as one of the premier teams in Burlington County, if not South and Central Jersey. The core of sophomores is led by seniors Cameron Cassidy, Jessica Kimball and Julia Veneziale. The dawgs will feature a team that is extremely versatile with players able to perform at a variety of positons, a rock solid defense, a lineup across the board that can wreak havoc on the opposition, and a pitching staff with a great amount of depth. The BCSL tournament, RVRHS Elite Tournament, and the prestigious Hammonton Tournament will give NBC an opportunity to pursue their quest to be the top team in the state. NBC had a successful preseason and fared well against perennial power Allentown and were extremely impressive against Mount St. Dominic, considered one of the top teams in the state. Fasten your seat belts folks because this promises to be quite a ride.
