The summer has just unfolded so now might be an appropriate time to reflect on the 2018 softball team. For some the most recent game still burns deeply as a reminder of the possibilities. It also offers a view of the future of this team. Seniors Cameron Cassidy, Jules Veneziale and Jessica Kimball will leave their footprints on a program which will be one of the premier programs in the state next year. Steinert High School continued on its journey after ousting NBC and captured the Group III State Championship. They would go on to become the Tournament of Champion winner in a 9-0 win. Robbinsville High School garnered the Group II State Champion. Both teams had been defeated by the hounds during the season. NBC finished ranked 15th in the state, ranked 2nd in South Jersey by the Courier Post and ranked third in the area by the Trentonian at the end of the year. Post season honors were given to a number of dawgs.

A reminder that, although the high school softball season is over a month in the rear view mirror, softball goes on. The entire roster of varsity players are involved on travel teams. Just recently the Outlaws tournament team returned from Colorado finishing an amazing 8-1 and finishing third in the prestigious showcase which featured over 100 teams. Coach Berg continues to provide a challenging off season schedule that few teams can match. The rest of the dawg pound continues to sharpen their claws as they ready themselves for what will be an exciting 2019 season.
