The Marshfield Chaparrals hosted a doubleheader on Saturday with the Whittlesey Reds at Jack Hackman Field.
The Chaps won the first game, which was a league game, 6-2 in 9 innings. The second game was a non-league game which Whittlesey took 7-1 in 7 innings.
Brandon Loertscher's sac fly scored Nick Meyer in the top of the first to open the scoring.
The Chaps evened things up the next half inning. Luke Wirtz singled on a 1-2 count bringing Nathan Krommenakker home. Isaiah Baierl, N. Krommenakker, and Riley Boushak with RBI's in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings respectably making the score 4-1.
Whittlesey's final run came in the seventh as Cody Loertscher reaches on an error that allowed Jeff Kraschnewski to score.
Will Lee walked with the bases loaded to score Wirtz and Jake Earll's sac fly to right field brings home Jason Kurth pushing the lead to 6-2.
Bob Pilz earned his first Dairyland League victory on the mound. He goes 5 innings, allowing 1 run on four hits and striking out 3. Caleb Krommenakker adds 2 more strikeouts bringing his total to 65 on the year after 4 innings in relief.
Loertscher took the loss for the Reds allowing 12 hits and 3 runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out 3.

Whittlesey Reds Take Second Game In 7 Innings
Whittlesey scored 4 runs in the seventh inning. Reds batters contributing to the big inning included Derek Nichols, John McMurry, Jon Laher, and Darren Leonhard, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Nick Retterath was the winning pitcher for the Reds. Retterath went 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 4. Nick Meyer finished the game out of the bullpen.
