10U Raiders show their mite and take 2nd Place at the BOMC!!

The Raiders come through yet again with another great weekend of baseball in Lisle at the Best of the Midwest Championships.  After a watershed moment in the season where our boys got beat badly by a good Victory team, the team leaders took charge by calling a players only meeting.  The team responded big time by avenging an earlier season loss to Coach Sheehan's Troy Titans, 7-5 in an extra inning thriller.  They then had to face the very tough (ranked top 5 in IL) Top Tier American team.  It was a well played, super tight game tied 3-3 through 4 innings.  The TT Americans broke it open with 4 runs in the 5th inning and never looked back.  Overall a great 2nd place finish for our Raider boys.  The "Danbino" Nuccio and "Flash" Rock also finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the weekend Home Run Derby.  Great job by all boys!!

10U Raiders have the keys to victory and take 1st Place in "Lockport Lockdown" Tourney!!

More fantastic baseball was on display in Lockport as the 10U Raiders snatch 1st place hardware away from the host Lockport Cobras and Lockport Vipers.  In a dominating 13-5 victory over the Cobras in the Championship game, the boys continued playing lights out defense during their 5-0 weekend run.  They outscored their opponents by a whopping 58-13 margin over the five game span while flashing leather all over the place.  The weekend was loaded with great defense, including infield gems by "Squeeze" Smith, "Loco" Rains and "Hoover" DiGiovanni.  Not to mention outfield diving grabs by "Flash" Rock and "Captain Serious" Meyers.  The boys also took home 1st place honors in the team skills relay competition.  Great job once again boys... everyone played great and contributed to this title!!

Special thanks to Tournament Coordinators Paul Sucharabski and Dave Mondrella for dealing with all the rain during the tournament and getting the fields playable.

10U Raiders shine bright and take

1st place in Aurora's "City of Lights" Tourney!

Once again, the boys played incredible baseball going 5-0 to win 1st place hardware in The City of Lights Tourney.  The Raiders outscored their opponents 39-14 over 5 games which included a payback 14-1 win over the Lemont Lightning.  After securing the #1 seed in pool play, the boys allowed only 3 runs against in the Championship round.  The Aurora Starz played a great championship game, but "Nails" Amen came through with a winning single to right driving in "Flash" Rock in the bottom of the 6th for the 3-2 walk-off win.  Special thanks to the Aurora Starz and tournament directors Russ Huggins/Scott Everhart for a GREAT tournament.  We will definitely be back next season!!  Congrats to the 9U Raiders who also won their City of Lights Tourney!!

10U Raiders take 3rd at

Nations Baseball DG Longshots Memorial Tourney!

The boys played great and went 3-1 for a 3rd place finish in a tough 12-team draw in Downers Grove.  Their only loss (5-1) was against the eventual tourney Champion, Troy Titans, in the semi-finals.  The weekend was highlighted by yet another bomb off the bat of the "Danbino" Nuccio, an amazing over the shoulder circus catch that was run down by "Flash" Rock in deep left field and "Dominooch" Curcio's red hot bat hit .700 in 12 plate appearances.  The entire team wore special "Raider USA" uniform shirts to honor the fallen during Memorial Day weekend.

10U RAIDERS TAKE 1ST AT

"BATTLE IN THE BROOK" TOURNEY!!!

The boys played fantastic and went 5-1 (4-0 on Sunday) in a tough 13-team draw to take home the 1st place hardware from Bolingbrook!  On Sunday, with the near impossible task of 4 games in 8 hours ahead of them, they beat the top three seeds in succession. This included the Minooka Rivercats (3), Plainfield Diamond Kings (2) and wrapped it up with a 17-6 victory over the top seeded Bolingbrook Rampage in the Championship game.  The dominating performance was highlighted by Danny "The Danbino" Nuccio's 2-run, 200+ foot bomb to dead center.  Slick base-running and rock solid defense behind great pitching secured the win.

Congratulations boys, no doubt this was a complete team effort and this title was definitely earned.  We are proud of each and every one of you...
