Seniors (16u) Divisional Expectations

A coach’s actions can influence a child’s development and trajectory as an athlete, but more importantly, as a person far beyond the field.

Time Commitment

·       Team practices at OBLL complex 1 hour a week

·       Combined team practices at OBLL complex 1-1.5 hours a week.

·       Each team will play twice a week with a two hour time limit (at a minimum)

·       Tuesday and/or Thursday games will start at 7:15pm

·       Saturday games will start at 1pm

·       Each team will be able to pinch run for the catchers and pitchers at any time to speed up the game.

What we expect from our players

·       Always pay attention

·       Always try your very best

·       Never give up on anything

·       No bullying

·       No disrespecting the coaches

 Required game play

·       Minimal play of 5 games (Seniors)

·       Minimal play of 50% of scheduled games (Juniors)

Required equipment for games and practices

·       Baseball helmet with C-Flap recommended

·       Heart guard

·       Metal Cleats or Cleats with rubber bottom

·       Baseball Pants

·       Protective cup

·       BB-core -3 usabl certified bats

·       Baseball glove must be legal size for the middle and high school level

Managers/Coaches duties to fulfill workbond requirements Work Hour Policy

·     Attend the umpire clinic (Managers required; Coaches encouraged)

      Attend 2 coaches clinics (Managers required; Coaches encouraged)

      Attend weekly player's clinics (at least 2 members from coaching staff need to be in attendance)

      Attend weekly team practice (at least 2 members from coaching staff need to be in attendance)

      Attend games (at least 2 members from coaching staff need to be in attendance)

1 member of each team's coaching staff needs to attend each General Meeting from March - June

Successful Junior/Senior coach managers will:

·       Place the safety and well-being of the players first. 

·       Possess a passion for and working knowledge of the game and the commitment to remain a student of the game.

·       Be observant of each player’s skills and help develop them to the level of each player.

·       Commit to creating a culture of respect; for each other, opponents, coaches, umpires, families, the game, the fields and environment—everything.

·       Understand the proper balance between player/team development and fun.

·       Believe that leadership is best administrated by example.

·       Give each player an equal amount of innings played. NO DADDY!!!!!! Baseball

Junior/Senior player skills and social development progression:

·       Respect – for selves, others, community and environment

·       Teamwork – working towards a collective goal of competing in each game

·       Sportsmanship – how to compete, win and lose with respect
