2021 Spring/Summer Tryouts

September 15, 2020

INTERESTED IN TRYING OUT? YOU MUST BE REGISTERED!

2021 Tryouts are coming!!

We created this non-profit, Northampton Township American Legion Baseball, almost two years ago with the following mission: "To instill the importance of being a great teammate, advocate healthy living and active citizenship to our athletes while promoting equality and sportsmanship.  NTALB aims to be a stepping stone to manhood for the young men who may go on to serve their country or community, raise families or play the sport at the highest level."

Northampton Township American Legion Baseball is open to anyone living in Northampton Township.

Players are expected to be committed to NTALB for the entire season up to and including regional tournaments and the state tournament, as applicable, and the only exception is for school-related athletic or academic commitments.  The season could go until the end of the first week in August.

Please keep in mind some important information for Legion
* Age Cutoff is based on calendar year (Jan 1st - Dec 31st)
* Prep Legion is 13-14
* Youth Legion is 15-16

For Legion purposes, for the 2021 season, a player will play at the age level he will be turning during the 2021 calendar year (see chart below).

Year of Birth/Legion Age for 2020 Season
2008 = 13 (Prep)*
2007 = 14 (Prep)
2006 = 15 (Youth)
2005 = 16 (Youth)
*[9/1/2008-12/31/2008 are Little League Age 12 and to support Little League Baseball, we are not accepting those players at this time]

Tryouts for 2021 are as follows, and these dates and times are subject to change:

09/21/2020
Prep 5:00PM – 6:30PM

Youth 6:30PM – 8:00PM

09/23/2020
Youth 5:00PM – 6:30PM
Prep 6:30PM – 8:00PM

09/30/2020
Prep 5:00PM – 6:30PM
Youth 6:30PM – 8:00PM

10/04/2020
Prep 11:00AM – 1:00PM
Youth 1:00PM – 3:00PM

Any player interested in trying out must register online at http://www.northamptonlegion.com PRIOR to the tryouts.
(any issues with registration, please email baseball@northamptonlegion.com)

A couple of other quick notes:
* Please make sure play comes properly dressed and prepared for baseball, including something to drink.
* When you register, there will be a Covid waiver.  It is important to ensure parents and players read and understand that information.  Players should bring masks to all tryouts and comply with directions on social distancing.
* Tryouts will be held at the Northampton Civic Center field CC290 (451 Newtown-Richboro Rd, Richboro, PA 18954).
* Please arrive about 15 minutes early to sign-in.
* There can only be a max number of twelve 14's on the Prep Legion Team and twelve 16's on the Youth Legion team.  Maximum roster size is 18. Some years there are pitchers only that fill slots, or slots can be double rostered.  Any given year could be different.
* Legion is wood bat only - maple or ash are most common (no bamboo or composite). Please bring a wood bat to tryouts. We will have some available for those who do not have one.
* All players are required to attend at least 2 of the tryouts (we recommended attending as many as possible)
* Other than school baseball or academic requirements, we expect a full commitment from all of our players for all games/practices. If you plan on being on the team, do not schedule any vacations until after the first week in August.
* Being selected to play on a NTALB team comes with responsibility to our brand, to American Legion Baseball, to our community, and to the American Legion in general.  We have service projects where we work with the American Legion or other partners in our community and participation is expected.

Information about Senior Legion (17-19) will be coming soon - they start later than Prep and Youth.

Former Bomber Star Jerry Mulderig drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates

Former Bomber and current Rider University Star Jerry Mulderig was drafted in the 28th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2013 MLB Draft. Check out the links below for some articles on the selection. This season, Jerry was a first-team all-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference selection and a first-team all-Jersey pick as a designated hitter. Even more impressive, as a behavioral neuroscience major, he was a member of the MAAC all-Academic team.

We could not be happier for both Jerry & his family on this amazing accomplishment.
