Welcome officials, athletic directors, managers, coaches, and parent liaisons; the 2025 PGL baseball season is underway. Once again PGL is planning on running spring and summer leagues in all divisions: peewee, cub, bantam, grasshopper, freshman, junior, senior and open.

Any manager that is interested in having their team participate in the Parade Ground League (PGL) for the spring and/or summer seasons should contact Ruben Ramirez (President) or Jerry Katzke (Director of Scheduling/Treasurer). For contact information, click here.

PGL/HBQVB 2025 Summer Crossover League Playoffs

To All PGL/HBQVB Summer League Managers and Coaches:

The 2025 PGL/HBQVB Summer Crossover  League Playoffs are being held starting this coming Saturday, September 6th and Sunday September 7th in the  Cub (10u) and Freshman (15/16u) Divisions .  All 10u Games will be played at Preller/Padavan Field, 236-2 Hillside Avenue in Queens and in the Parade Grounds in Brooklyn in the 15/16u Divisions .  The Plaiyoffs in both Divisions will be Pool Play as described below.
I have listed the standings and seedings below of the teams that are going to participate.  There will be no Playoffs held in the Bantam (12u) and Grasshopper (14u) Divisions due to lack of teams. Tje League Championship in those Divisions will be determined by Regular season Play and the Champions are listed below.

I have attached the full PGL Playoff Schedules for the 2 Divisions and have listed the standings and seeding of the teams below. The seeding is based on the points that each team earned during the Summer League Regular Season where 2 points were awarded for a win and 1 point for a tie. Suspended games that were not completed were not counted in the standings. We believe that we do have the scores of almost all games played during the regular season. . At this point no changes in the seedings will be made even if you now turn in a correction or any additional scores. The deadline for turning in scores was the middle of last week so that I could distribute the schedule today.

The Cub (9/10u) Division Playoffs will have 4 teams, Hard90 (7-1-1, 15  points, S1), HBQVB (7-8-1, 15 points, S2), Bonnie Rangers (5-4-1, 11 points, S3), Bonnie Braves (1-8-1, 3 points, S4), They will play 2 Pool Play Games on Sat then Seed the teams 1-4 and play 1-4 and 2-3 on Sunday at 9 am with the winners playing at 11:15 am for the Championship.  Higher Team from the Regular Season will be the home team in Pool Play and the higher seeded team n Pool Play will be the home team in the Championship Round.

There will be no Playoffs in the Bantam (11/12u) Division.  The PGL Champion for the Summer League is the Bonnie Robins who finished with a 8-0 record (16 points) and were closely followed by the NY Mets 7-2 (14 points).

There will be no Playoffs in the Grasshopper (13/14u) Division.  The PGL Champion for the Summer League is the LES Tigers who finished with a 4-2 record (8 points).

The Freshman (15/16u) Division Playoffs will have 3 teams, Bonnie Paws (8-3, 16 points, S1), HBQVB Rampage (7-7, 14 points, S2) and Hard90 (1-10, 2 points, S3).  They will play a 3-team Pool Play Tournament with the Paws playing Hard90 in the first game, The loser playing HBQVB Rampage in the 2nd game and the loser playing HBQVB Rampage in the 3rd game on Saturday.  The teams will then be seeded 1-3 and on Sunday S2 will play S3 and the winner will play S1 for the Championship.  Higher Team from the Regular Season will be the home team in Pool Play and the higher seeded team n Pool Play will be the home team in the Championship Round.

The results of all games played in each Division will be posted on the PGL website by tomorrow morning, http://www.leaguelineup.org/pglbrooklyn
No WBA, or Youth Sports teams have been included in the Playoffs but their games have been counted in the standings.

The Pool Play Games in the Cub Division will use a time limit of 2 hours as well as the mercy rule of 10 runs after 4 innings.

All Pool Play Games in the Freshman Division will use a time limit of 2 hours and 15 minutes as well as the mercy rules of 10 runs after 5 innings.

The Championship Games in the Cub Division will have a time limit of 2 hours and 10 minutes but still have a mercy run spread of 10 runs after 4 innings.

The Championship Game in the Freshman Division will have a time limit of 2 hours and 30 minutes but will still have a mercy run spread of 10 runs after 5 innings.

All tie games must be played to completion independent of time limit. All other rules will the same as those used during the spring and summer seasons. This includes the Allowable Bat Rule of Wood Bats, USA and USSSA standard Bats in the Cub Division and wood bats and Baum bats only in the Freshman Division..  Any time limit games not completed due to darkness, rain or other valid reasons will be considered to be a suspended game if there is any time left in the time limit. Any non-time limit game not completed due to darkness, rain or other valid reasons will be considered to be a suspended game if it has not gone to completion or been stopped due to the mercy rule.

Please read over the attached schedule carefully. Since it is a tight Pool Play schedule, changes to the schedule in any way will be very difficult to make.  If there are any questions or issues please contact me ASAP via email or give me a call on my cell phone at (301) 704-7436.

Please note that the schedules are still subject to change if any of the teams drop out between now and Friday night.  If any teams drop out on Friday night the games will be treated as forfeits as we will not be able to rearrange the schedule and umpires.

Best of luck to all.   Jerry
