Greg Aune blanked the Knights with a live-fastball and sharp-breaking pitches. The Hornets scored two runs in the top of the first, with Adam Hill contributing a run-scoring single to left. That proved to be all the runs that Aune would need, as he cruised through the complete-game shutout.

NOTE:
The Hornets team party is on Saturday afternoon/evening, August 30th, at Joe Juza's home. All wives, kids, parents, and girlfriends are invited to attend. It should be a great time.

The Haugen Hornets split a pair of league games over the weekend and now their record stands at 11-2 in the Independent league and 15-7 overall.
The Hornets missed out on a chance to gain a share of first-place in the Indy league when they lost to the Haugen Knights 2-0 on Saturday Night in front of a huge crowd at the Haugen Ballpark. Dan Lindsey pitched a four-hit shutout for the Knights, while Greg Aune was the tough luck losing pitcher for the Hornets, allowing only five hits. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the eighth, when the Knights got a lead off triple from Andrew Mau that was lost in the tough twi-light sky. The Knights then came up with two more singles to score the only two runs of the ballgame. There was great defense played on both sides to keep the game scoreless through seven innings.
On Sunday the Hornets bounced back with a 6-5 win over the Grantsburg Honkers, scoring the winning run on an error in the bottom of the ninth. Grantsburg took a 1-0 lead in the first, only to have the Hornets come back with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
