Seals Players Selected in MLS and USL Drafts

February 2, 2007
Two members of the 2006 San Francisco Seals realized the next step in their playing careers as they were selected by teams in the top two levels of professional soccer in the U.S.

Kevin Long (Defender, USF) was chosen by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2nd round of the MLS Supplemental Draft.  Long (pictured at right) tied for the Seals lead in games played last year with 15 and was second on the club in minutes played (1,234) while registering 3 assists.

Matt Fitzgerald (Forward, St. Mary's) was taken in the 2nd round of the USL-1 Draft by the expansion California Victory.  Fitzgerald saw action in 10 games with the Seals last season and struck for one goal.

With these two draftees and a number of Seals players attending tryouts with professional clubs overseas, the Seals are off to a strong start on their mission in facilitating the development of professional soccer talent.
