Spain - Post #1

June 29, 2013

by Ian James

We landed in the Barcelona airport two days ago overcome with jet lag yet amazed by the city we had landed in. We took a bus ride around Barcelona taking in sights like the Castell de Montjuic. After meeting up in the lobby to watch Italy and Spain in the confederations cup the team went to bed.

The next day the seals dived fully into the soccer experience. After a morning practice we visited Camp Nou, the huge stadium was was filled with soccer heritage. Inside there were ballon d'ors and champions league trophies, along with videos of famous goals.

The day finished with a scrimmage against a local youth academy. The seals went down 3-0 in the first half, but overcame jet lag to pull back three in a 5-3 loss. An early night followed as the team rested for the next day

Note:  Defender Ian James is traveling with the U19 - U17 team in Spain and will be chronicleing the experience which will be posted on the Seals website.
