Seals Venues Set for 2007 Season!

May 7, 2007

The San Francisco Seals open the season with two U.S. Open Cup qualifier at USF Negoesco Field.  The first match is on May 20th against the Lancaster Rattlers, and the second is against the Bakersfield Brigade on Memorial Day, May 28th.

The Lancaster Rattlers match (4:00pm on Sunday May 20th) is the same team that they open up the season against this coming Saturday, May 12th in Lancaster.  “We saw the Rattlers play the San Jose Frogs this past weekend, and know that they can be very dangerous” stated Tom Simpson, General Manager and Coach of the Seals.  The Seals play the Frogs in San Jose in June, and again at USF for the final match of the season on July 22nd.

The Seals Memorial Day match on Monday, May 28th against the Bakersfield Brigade starts at 1:00pm.  “The Brigade are off to a fast start this season” noted Simpson.  The Brigade have won their first two matches, scoring 4 goals while allowing none.

The Seals are also committed to reaching into the five Bay Area counties granted to the Seals by the United Soccer League (USL).  It's quite a large area, incorporating San Mateo, San Francisco, Marin, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties!

To reach fans in those counties we are have been attempting to have up to three matches outside of San Francisco.
This year we have matches in Novato (June 2nd), Concord (July 14th), and Livermore (July 21st).

Each of these matches are also fundraisers for the clubs in those area’s.  “We had a pre-season California Victory match up here against the University of San Francisco,” said Alan Wnuk, Assistant General Manager of the California Victory, and VP for the Novato Youth Soccer Association.  “The community had a great time at that match, and we are really looking forward to having the Seals come up here and play as well.”

The match in Concord on July 14th against the Los Angeles Storm will be hosted by the Mount Diablo Soccer League.  “We anticipate making the event a full day event here in Concord,” noted Walter Macy, club Fundraising Coordinator.  “We hope to make this a really fun event for the entire community.”  The match will be a night game starting at 7:00pm.

Livermore Youth Soccer League will once again host a match in Livermore, this year on July 21st against the Fresno Fuego.  “We are looking forward to have the Seals come back to Livermore this summer,” stated Brent Koch, President of LYSL.  “This is a great way to bring top level competition to the area, and to help the club as well.”

“Every home game is a potential fundraiser opportunity for any youth club interested in doing so with the Seals,” stated Paul Sheirich, Director of Marketing and Sales for the Seals.  “We are able to provide the tickets to the clubs at a very low price as a result of the support we receive from our Game Day sponsors,” added Sheirich, “and both the youth club and the Seals provide those sponsors with a great deal of exposure.  It’s a real win-win situation for the clubs, sponsors, fans, and the Seals.”
