Seals Beat Brigade at Home 2-1

On Memorial Day, Monday May 28th, the Seals defeated the only PDL team to qualify for the US Open Cup by defeating the Bakersfield Brigade at USF Negoesco Stadium.
We were very tight defensively in that game.  Rich Halvorsen, Danny Warrender, Bill Robertson, and Chris Rodd played tough.  Ahead of Bill Roberson's excellent play organization at the back, the guys played with a new-found sense of confidence.

The Seals did not feel threatened by Bakersfield. Both teams had played a Saturday game which affected the look and feel of both clubs.  However in the second half the Seals finally broke it open when Chris Rodd headed in a ball to the far post off a thrown in by Halvorsen.

The Brigade tried to pick it up, but the more they did, the more opportunities we got.

Alex Peterllin stepped up for the second time in as many games and made a great run from his left side to the opposite post on the right.  They didn't see him coming from the back side and he slipped a ball served from the flank by John Gonzales.

Bakersfield scored with about 5 minutes to go off a poorly cleared ball that was shanked by the Bakersfield scorer, and the Seals held them off for the remainder of the match.
