Seals Player Victor Cortez Joins U20's in Portugal

April 9, 2008
Seals player Victor Cortez was selected last week to travel with the Men's U20 National Team to Beja, Portugal for the Campos Verdes International Tournament.  The tournament starts this Sunday, April 13th, and runs through Saturday the 19th.

The format of the tournament is a round-robin, three game tournament.  The U.S. will play Northern Ireland on the 15th, Cape Verde Islands on the 16th, and after a day of rest they play Portugal on the 18th.

Cortez, who also plays with the University of San Francisco (USF) will join a team with six international players, and four players who are part of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.

Cortez joined the Seals PDL team last season after also playing with our U21 team.  He went on to play nearly every minute of seven matches for the Seals.

This past season at USF, Cortez was named to the WCC All-Freshman Team. In November last year, Cortez joined the U20's in Argentina where they tied Argentina and River Plate before dropping a 1-0 decision against Uruguay.

Good luck Victor!
