Keeper Dan Benton Signs with Earthquakes

May 28, 2008

Seals keeper Dan Benton signed with the San Jose Earthquakes this past week.

“Dan has been working out with the Quakes all season.  In fact, he worked out with them in preseason as well.  He’s done a terrific job for us in goal this year, and I can only wish him the very best!” said Seals Head Coach Tom Simpson.

At the time of his signing, Benton was 4th on the PDL Goal Keeper chart for saves this season with 20, and is sporting a 1.000 GAA (Goals Against Average) for the three game appearances this season.

“We are fortunate to have a terrific backup keeper, Eric Conner,” added Simpson.  Conner has already had one shutout this season, and had three last year while making 51 saves, and finishing with a 1.153 GAA.  Conner has had two starts for the Seals this season, and has already recorded two shutout's and 11 saves.

Conner was a runner up for the PDL All Star team last season.
