Prescott Joseph attends Earthquakes - Galaxy Game

August 5, 2008
The Seals Junior Clinic sponsored 17 tickets for children from the Prescott-Joseph program in West Oakland to attend the Earthquakes - Galaxy game at the Coliseum on Sunday .  This is a photo of some of the children.

We sold tickets at retail price for this game to members of the Seals Junior Academy.  The Earthquakes allowed us a discounted rate for this purpose.  The difference was used to pay for the tickets for the Prescott Joseph children.  The total amount raised was $925.  This amount was sufficient to sponsor 17 children to watch the game.  There was $90 left over.  A check for that amount will be sent to Prescott-Joseph for their soccer program.

Donors were Juan Kong, who provided 4 tickets, Emily Green ($100 donation), Kenyatta Scott ($25 donation), and ticket purchasers: James Gray, Jacy Crawford, Patrick Mcguire and Issac Thrupp.

We are very grateful to these generous individuals who made it possible for the children of Prescott-Joseph to attend the Earthquakes - Galaxy game at the Oakland Coliseum on Sunday, August 3rd.

Yuri Morales, staff member of the SJ Earthquakes, made the arrangement possible.

The Prescott-Joseph soccer program is a West Oakland program.  Seals coaches who run that program include Paul Aigbogun, Shani Simpson, Rawley Masaniai and Aziz Dieng.  The program is funded by the Prescott-Joseph Center.  It's a 6 week program that provides the children of Prescott-Joseph a daily exposure to soccer skills and training during the Summer.  Prescott-Joseph, under the leadership of Dr. Washington Burns, MD, intends to expand the Summer Program to a year-round program. Dr. Burns hopes to start the program this coming Fall. Interested donors can send their support to Prescott-Joseph Soccer, c/o SFUSC, 120 Magellan Ave, San Francisco, CA.  SFUSC is a non-profit affiliate of the San Francisco Seals that was established to support and initiate soccer programs for inner city children.
