New SF Seals U15 Boys Team Scores Opening League Game Win!

The new SF Seals Academy U15 boys team – the SF Seals Pyros - debuted in their first-ever NorCal Premiere League game with a high-voltage and very physical 2-0 win against a talented and aggressive San Jose FC Liverpool squad.

After trading repeated 1st half probes and counter-attacks, and the Pyros “D” repeatedly slamming the door on San Jose opportunities, the young Seals squad ignited for two goals with a determined second-half surge. Sub forward Pato Trejo Lerdo flicked a sweet assist inside the box to the on-rushing Alex Voorhees, who forced the ball through collapsing defenders to net his first goal of the season.

Still feeding off the electricity of that 1st goal, the Pyros kept coming at San Jose with intense pressure from midfielders Will Simpson, Johnny Klyver, Bryan Galarza and Jack Bragagnolo. The pressure opened another seam in the defense for Alex to exploit, forcing the San Jose defenders to bring him down and winning a PK. Left-back Peter Harrington stepped up to the spot to drill home the Pyros second goal.

The tackles now were coming in increasingly hard and tempers flared, while San Jose mounted several furious attempts to claw back into the game … but Pyros keeper Connor “the Beast” Anderson blocked or absorbed every volley, twice leaving San Jose forwards crumpled on the ground after hard hitting saves.

The D, held up by Peter Harrington, Emmett  Kessler, Seth Rosner and Aidan Weir, emphatically staked their ground and helped secure the clean sheet for their imposing keeper. At final whistle, the Seals’ U15 team turned their first game together as a competitive unit into an impressive calling card.

The SF Seals Pyros are coached by Shani Simpson and Anthony Navarro. Try-outs are held on a rolling basis.
