The Toronto FC selected two former San Francisco Seals players in the Super Draft this past week - Junior Burgos (44th), and Demitrius Omphroy (22nd).

Burgos played for the Seals PDL from 2006-2008 season, and saw his role on the field grow throughout that time.

Junior became an integral part of the Seals offense as the 2008 season progressed.  "His work rate increased, and defense improved as the season went on," said General Manager and Head Coach Tom Simpson.  "We had several key games that really turned around for us when Junior went in there.  He had a big impact in our match in Bakersfield."

At the end of the 2008 season, Junior was an All Conference selection for the PDL Western Conference. Finishing the season with four goals and two assists, Junior earned himself 10 points.  Always dangerous with the ball whenever he was near the goal, Junior also helped create chances.  "I love this kid," said Seals forward Peter Lovell at the time.  "He sees the field so well, and his passes are incredible.  Right on.  He gives me so many opportunities with his play and passes - I just love him.  I wish he were always in the game for me."

Burgos also played with the San Francisco United Soccer Club, the non-profit youth club team that the Seals worked closely with for developing youth talent in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Burgos continued to play with the Seals squad after they left the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League (PDL) following the 2008 season.

Burgos has played his college ball at San Jose State, and most recently as a midfielder at Cal Polytechnic Institute, San Luis Obispo.

Demitrius Omphroy played with the Seals for the 2008 season after making occasional appearances in prior seasons.  He continued to play with the team after 2008 as well.

"Demit was always a great talent," Simpson said.  "There are kids that you can see from very early on that they have the natural skill and physical abilities to take their game to the highest level, and he was one of those kids."

Omphroy played most of his youth club ball with the Bay Oaks club in Alameda, California.  He played there from U10-U17, and appeared with the U.S. National Men's team with the U15, U17, and U21 teams.

The past four seasons Omphroy has played his college ball with the University of California, Berkeley, appearing in 70 matches, and scoring four goals and registering 12 assists. “I want quality defenders and that’s why I took him”, said Toronto FC Head Coach and Technical Director Aron Winter. “He is one of the players that I saw at the MLS Combine and he was on my ranking list so I am happy to get him.”

We look forward to their continued success in soccer.  Congratulations to both players!
