Late Goal by SPF Spoils A. L. Johnson's Senior Night

ROSELLE, NJ -  Arthur L. Johnson High School (Clark, NJ) honored its varsity ice hockey team's senior players prior to their game, but Scotch Plains-Fanwood ruined the send-off at Warinanco Park in Roselle on Wednesday night

The Crusaders tied the game at 2-2 with 2:42 left in the third period, but then allowed the game-winning goal just 18 seconds later, losing to the Raiders by a final score of 4-2.

SPF Comes Back to Tie Bayonne 2-2

BAYONNE, NJ  -- Jack White Scored in the final 2 minutes of the second period to pull out a tie with Bayonne at Korpi Arena.

Adam Glod opened the scoring in the second period, assisted by Tom Bruckman. Ryan Lamberta finished with 14 saves. The tie continued the Raiders undefeated streak within the Kelly division, 7-0-6 (12-2-6 overall).


SPF Battles Cranford to a 1-1 Tie

ROSELLE, NJ  -- Tom Bruckman tipped a shot past Harry Devenny for the Raiders only goal to help Scotch Plains-Fanwood to a 1-1 tie against Cranford at Warinanco.

Jack White  and Will White assisted the goal and Ryan Lamberta finished with 14 saves.


SPF Holds On, Ties West Essex 3-3

BAYONNE, NJ  -- Jonny Scheer scored a goal and dished two assists to help Scotch Plains-Fanwood to a 3-3 tie against West Essex in Scotch Plains.

Jack White added a goal and an assist and Kyle Remo chipped in a goal for the Raiders. Keeper Ryan Lamberta finished with 13 saves.


SPF tops Cranford 3-1, remain undefeated in Kelly Division

ROSELLE, NJ -- Jonny Scheer netted the game winning goal in the second period, along with goals from Jack White and Tom Bruckman, to lift SPF to a 3-1 win over Cranford at Warinanco Park in Roselle.

Ryan Lamberta made 24 saves to earn the win for Scotch Plains-Fanwood.

This was the first win over Rich Hurley's Cranford team for Coach Gunther. With the 3 - 1 win, the Raiders remain undefeated in the Kelly division, 7-0-3, 12-2-3 overall.


On Big Stage, Raiders Fall to Westfield, 4-2, in County Cup Semis

ROSELLE, NJ — Playing for a spot in the Union County Cup final in front of a nearly sold-out Warinanco Ice Center, Scotch Plains-Fanwood had already scored a victory before the puck even dropped Wednesday. The Raiders had earned the right to play their archival Westfield, a matchup that for the first time in years was not scheduled for the regular season.

Though Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s resurgent season is not going to not include a Union County Cup championship, the Raiders hung tough against their highly-regarded rivals and put on an entertaining show in front of their lively group of supporters.

Glod, Scheer Net Hat Tricks as Raiders Crush ALJ, 11-2, in County Cup

ROSELLE, NJ — The performance put on by Scotch Plains-Fanwood Monday night not only punched the Raiders a state playoff ticket, but it also said something, loud and clear: Bring on Westfield.

In the midst of their greatest season in program history, the Raiders produced their most dominant game yet with an 11-2 drilling of A.L. Johnson (Clark) in the Union County Cup quarterfinal round at Warinanco Ice Center. The Raiders move on to battle arch rival and second-seeded Westfield in the Cup semifinals Wednesday, and also clinch a spot in the state playoffs with the victory.

SPF beats Nutley 4-2 for 6th straight win

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- Jonny Scheer and Jack White each had a goal with an assist apiece and Adam Glod and Jake Hogan each added a score to lead Scotch Plains-Fanwood to a 4-2 victory over Nutley at Codey Arena. Will White and Thomas Bruckman each had an assist for Scotch Plains-Fanwood, which led 3-1 midway throuth the second period. Ryan Lamberta made 26 saves to lead the Raiders to their 6th straight victory.

SPF Rolls past West Essex, wins 4-1

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- The Raiders started off the new year with a victory, beating West Essex, 4-1. Goals from Jake Hogan, Joe Decker, and 2 from Tim Lamberta powered Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Tom Bruckman had 3 assists, Jonny Scheer had 2 assists and Adam Glod and David Lenart each  had 1 assist in the game.

Ryan Lamberta finished with 21 saves for Scotch Plains-Fanwood.

With the win, the Raiders continue their strong season (9-1-3).


SPF Beats Pequannock in Essex Holiday Tourny, 6-2

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- Thomas Bruckman had a goal and three assists to lead Scotch Plains-Fanwood to a 6-2 win over Pequannock in the Essex Holiday Tournament at Codey Arena in West Orange.

William Mauer and Kyle Remo each had a goal and an assist, while Nicholas Route had three assists for Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Adam Glod, Jonny Scheer, and Jack White each scored in the win.

Ryan Lamberta and Dalton Tango each made 7 saves for Scotch Plains-Fanwood.


SPF Out-Shoots Parsippany 71-6 En Route to 4-0 Victory

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Codey Arena turned into more of a shooting range than a hockey rink for Scotch Plains-Fanwood Thursday night. 

In a display of complete dominance on both sides of the puck, the Raiders continued their torrid month of December by outshooting Parsippany Hills, 71-6, and went on to win their seventh game of the season, 4-0. The Raiders are now 2-0 in the Essex County Holiday Hockey Tournament and 7-1-3 overall.

SPF Beats Mountain Lakes 4-1

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- Goals from Tim Lamberta, Kyle Remo, and 2 from Jake Hogan powered Scotch Plains-Fanwood to a 4-1 victory over Mountain Lakes in the first round of the Essex County Holiday Tournament at Cody Arena in West Orange.

Ryan Lamberta finished with 18 saves for Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Matt Kane scored and Scott Moonzanks stopped 25 shots for Mountain Lakes.


SPF Blanks Millburn 2-0, Takes Top Spot in Kelly Division

ROSELLE, NJ -- Jonny Scheer and Jack White each hit the back of the net to lift SPF to a 2-0 win over Millburn at Warinanco Park in Roselle. Jack Pedersen and Will White each had an assist. Dalton Tango made 28 saves to earn the shutout for Scotch Plains-Fanwood. With the win Scotch Plains-Fanwood moves to the top of the Kelly Division with a 4-0-3 record (5-1-3 overall).


SPF Suffers First Loss of Season, Falls 6-1 to Montclair

 MONTCLAIR, NJ — Sooner or later, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood ice hockey team was going to have to come back down to earth. That time came Saturday night, as the Raiders suffered their first loss of the season.

Playing in their second game in as many nights, the Raiders (4-1-3) fell behind early and could never recover against a strong Montclair team. The Mounties ended the Raiders’ unbeaten streak by serving them a 6-1 defeat at Clary Anderson Arena. The loss comes just 24 hours after the Raiders tied Millburn on Friday.

SPF Surges in 3rd Period to Tie Millburn 4-4

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — The match up of the 2 top teams in the Kelly Division did not disappoint. Facing a 4-2 deficit with less than 6 minutes left in the third, and playing shorthanded, Will White and Jonny Scheer each netted a goal to pull Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Millburn to a 4-4 tie.  Jack Hosmer and William Mauer had the other 2 goals and Jack Pedersen and Jonny Scheer added an assist each. Ryan Lamberta stopped 29 of 33 shots to hold on to the tie. With the 4-4 tie, the Raiders remain undefeated (4-0-3).


SPF tops Nutley 3-1, remains undefeated.

ROSELLE, NJ -- Jack Hosmer netted the game winning goal in the second period, along with goals from Kyle Remo and Jonny Scheer, to lift SPF to a 3-1 win over Nutley at Warinanco Park in Roselle. Will White had two assists and Jack White and Jonny Scheer each had 1 in the win. Dalton Tango made 12 saves to earn the win for Scotch Plains-Fanwood. With the 3 - 1 win, the Raiders remain undefeated (4-0-2).


SPF Remains Undefeated, Blanks Bayonne, 3-0

ROSELLE, NJ -- Will White scored twice to lift SPF to a 3-0 win over Bayonne at Warinanco Park in Roselle. Jack White had two assists and Tim Lamberta had 1 assist for SPF. Kyle Remo added an empty net goal in the win. Ryan Lamberta made 16 saves to earn the shutout for Scotch Plains-Fanwood.


SPF Ties Verona-Glen Ridge a Second Time, 2-2

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — After tying their matchup last Sunday, Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Verona-Glen Ridge met again one week later and yielded the same result.  One week after playing to a 1-1 draw, neither the Raiders nor Hillbillies could get the best of one another again Sunday night at Codey Arena. With the 2-2 tie, the Raiders remain undefeated (2-0-2).

SPF Remains Undefeated, Downs A.L. Johnson, 6-2

SPF Ties Verona-Glen Ridge, 1-1

UNION, NJ — While Scotch Plains-Fanwood had less than half as many shots on target as Verona-Glen Ridge, the final result remained the same for both hockey sides. 

Despite striking first, the Raiders couldn’t hold on to a late 1-0 lead in their second game in as many nights. Scotch Plains-Fanwood and Verona played to a 1-1 tie Sunday at Union Sports Arena.

SPF Varsity Opens the Season With a 3-1 Win Over Governor Livingston

UNION, NJ -- A few forwards on Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s hockey team have patiently waited for their turn to shine after seasons in the shadow of Jared Figueroa, the school’s all-time leading scorer who graduated in June.  

Jonny Scheer and Will White are two of those attackers who will help carry the Raiders’ new front line. On opening night Saturday, the duo showed just how dangerous they can be, as Scheer netted the go-ahead score after White had put in the equalizer. The Raiders scored three unanswered goals to hold off rival Gov. Livingston, 3-1, at Union Sports Arena.
