2023 Rules Amendment

Per Diamond Classics League vote amongst the managers, the following rule goes into effect, immediately (May 8, 2023).

The Amended pitching rules as follows:  Players having competed in the Diamond Classics League for at least two seasons prior to 2023 that are at least 48 will be allowed to pitch.  Otherwise, pitchers MUST be 50 years old as of January 1st , 2023.

Time of games:  First pitch is the official start of the game. No new inning after 2:35.  There is no longer a drop dead time.  Be sure to get the official start time!!  

Protests on time must be in WRITING within 24 hours of said scheduled game.  

Non-Runners: . Stealing Bases - Base stealing will not be permitted. Stealing shall be defined as attempting to advance: 1. While the pitcher holds the ball on the mound; 2. While the pitcher is in the motion of delivering the pitch; 3. If the pitch is caught cleanly i.e. without touching the ground; 4. If the cleanly caught ball, while being returned to the pitcher, is missed, dropped or otherwise errant.

EXCEPTION: Stealing is permitted and runners MAY attempt to advance under the following cases: 1. If a pitched ball makes contact with the ground (wild pitch, passed ball, 55-footer, etc.) 2. If a pitcher or catcher attempts to pick-off a runner and the pick-off attempt hits the ground Enforcement: If a base runner attempts to steal illegally the runner shall be called out. No tag/force out need to be applied. During a cleanly executed pick-off attempt all base runners are forced back to their bases, but required to be tagged for an out. If the ball makes contact with the ground during any pick-off attempt, or on a pitched ball, regular baseball rules apply.

From inaugural season.  HOME TEAM is 3rd base side, regardless of venue.  

Forfeits:  If a team decides to forfeit, they must give sufficient notice.  24 hours or less, the forfeiting team will be responsible for the full umpire fee.  In the event, that the league is still charged for the field, the forfeiting team is responsible for that fee also.  No further games will be scheduled until fees are paid.

Exception:  Teams notifying the league by Noon of the Wednesday prior, a forfeit loss may be assessed.  There will be no further penalty with sufficient notice.
