Please read below for HSL Champs information - Don't forget to wear your new 2018 HSL Champs Shirts!

1. Saturday AM Session (10 and under) - Location: BAAC: FGST arm-ups are at 7:15 A.M. sharp with the meet starting at 8:00 A.M.  Please arrive between 6:30-6:45 A.M. to check in with your coaches.  We expect to have a FGST area with several tents.  If you have a tent and are able to bring, please do so.  For parking at BAAC, please use the lot behind Steelfish.  You can also park in the right side lot in front of Union Memorial Sports Medicine as well as behind the Wilmer Eye Institute.  Should all lots fill up, the mall is aware of this event and will not ticket.  Do NOT park at Steelfish or in the center spaces of the club.  Parking attendants will direct you to the next available lot.  Teams may set up begin setting up tents (no larger than 10x10) Friday night from 7:00-9:00 PM.
2. Saturday PM Session (11 and over) - Location: Aberdeen Family Swim Center:  Warm-ups are at 3:45 P.M. sharp with the meet starting at 4:40pm.  Please arrive between 3:15-3:30 P.M. to check in with your coaches.   Teams may begin set up at 2:30PM.  Tents (10x10) are permitted.
3. Sunday Session - location:FGSC:  all ages - our FGST Warm-ups are at 6:30 A.M.  We need swimmers to arrive no later than 6:00 A.M. on Sunday morning to check in with your coaches.  This is critically important for any 8U swimmers as you may be in an A or B relay.  For team set up, we can begin our set up on Saturday night after 9pm or early Sunday morning at 5:30am.  All hands on deck for our volunteers to pull off this meet.  If you are on parking volunteer duty, we need you to arrive by 5:30am.
4. Relays - we will be providing relay information either at the Friday morning practice or at the beginning of each session.  Please see your coaches prior to the start of the meet to see if you are in a relay.
5. Saturday versus Sunday - for those new to our team, here is how it works.  If you qualified for Sunday in some or all of your events, you must swim those events on Sunday.  Some swimmers qualified for swimming on both Saturday and Sunday.  Please be sure to see our web site for exactly which events and days your swimmer is swimming.  If you know that you will not be at the meet (either Saturday or Sunday), please email coach Jamie or Emily directly so that they know. emmybjordan1994@gmail.com, jhruz@ycp.edu.  If you have any questions about what and when you are swimming, please ask the coaches at practice tonight or tomorrow morning.
6. Session Reports - we will be posting on our web site today.  These reports will give you an idea as to the timeline of the meets and when awards will be handed out.

NEW THIS YEAR FOR HSL CHAMPS - Alternate Swimmers

Sunday Alternate Swimmers: In summary, any swimmer that is 11 and over and finished in the Top 5 position Saturday in their respective race(s), can serve as an alternate for the same race on Sunday.  This would only be the case if there is an open lane on Sunday for that particular event due to a scratch, etc.   We will have an area on Sunday for the alternate swimmer to sit at least 1 event prior to the first heart of the swimmers approved event.   Please see your coaches if you have any questions.

The weather forecast is calling for possible rain this weekend.  We will do everything possible to get the meet complete on both days.  We do not have a make-up day, so we either swim this weekend or it is cancelled.  Fingers crossed.

Hi Everyone,

What a fantastic evening last night!  We had great food and celebrated/ 'hung out' with friends and family for the evening. Couldn't think of a better way to spend a beautiful Summer night.  Fantastic weather for sure!!  Regarding the striped beach tote/blanket team gift, it does come with sand stakes, but they were back-ordered.  When they do arrive, I will post an email and you can pick them up in the pool office.  We hope you liked the team gifts and enjoyed the picnic! 

A few very important reminders:

1) Our last two practices are Thursday night and Friday morning.

2)  If you missed the Picnic, you can pick up your trophy and team gifts at practice tonight or tomorrow or  the FG Swim Club front office after the swim season is over.

Hi everyone,

Here are some important reminders regarding our Picnic tonight and all the fun festivities.  We have nearly 500 swimmers and families attending.  Yup, that's right, 500!  So get ready and be sure to read below - and don't be late:

1. Remember to tell your swimmers to wear their team suit.  We will have Individual pictures starting at 3:45 P.M.  We will then be doing one team picture starting at 4:45pm.  If you want individual and/or team pictures, please be sure to bring your checkbook and/or cash.  We will have Picture Forms to fill out as well.  Or you can click on this link to pre-order on-line:  lifetouchsports.com, click on Pre-Order now and enter code: MJ068553X0
2. Photo Booth - yes that's right, we will have a Photo Booth in the back by the pavilion starting at 3:30.  Should be tons of fun!
3. We will have a separate table at the entrance to FGSC to 'check-in' and pick up your meal ticket. We will be checking in families beginning at 4:00pm.  You must check in and pick up your meal ticket in order to get your dinner.  If you did not RVSP for the picnic, you will not be receiving a meal ticket.
4. The FGSC Pool Management has asked me to remind everyone to please not reserve tables (for the picnic) during the morning swim practice.  Our picnic doesn't start until later that day, so please plan accordingly.
5. Dinner will begin after pictures at approximately 5:15 P.M.  We expect dinner to last about 1 hour and then the festivities/formal presentation will begin.  Coaches and parents will eat first, followed by the swimmers.  It's time to reward all the parents for their volunteering during the season.
6. The FGST Committee and many parent volunteers have put in countless hours (and I really mean a lot of time) to pull off this enormous event.  We can't wait to see everyone and expect this to be a very fun and exciting evening.  This is a very special evening for the swimmers - and we have a lot to celebrate so we appreciate everyone's cooperation with being attentive and respectful during the awards portion of the evening.

The FGST/BAAC Shout Out will air tomorrow (Wednesday, July 18th) during the 6o'clock hour of WMAR, ABC2's morning newscast. Shout outs typically run between 6:20 - 6:40a.m., but timing can change if there's breaking news. They will also post the clip to the station's website and social media accounts.

Also, for HSL Champs, if there are any 9-12 year old swimmers that would like to swim the 100 free during the Saturday afternoon session of HSL Champs, please reply to this email. This would be an extra event that they would be allowed to swim. This event will take place after the step up relays at the beginning of the afternoon session on Saturday. There are openings for this event and we are allowing younger kids to swim it if they would like or any older kids that want to swim it as an extra event. Medals will be awarded.

Picnic - Please be on the look out for an email on the picnic tomorrow morning. We have tons of exciting things planned for Wednesday evening.

Important deadlines are approaching as our final week of the season is upon us.  Please read below.

Volunteering:  It is the parent volunteers that make this team possible given our team size.  This is how we are able to be the size that we are and how we have been so successful.  This year was our largest team ever and there were still some families that we turned away and were not allowed to join our team because of our team size.  If you do not fulfill your volunteer positions this year, unfortunately you will not be given priority for team sign-ups for next season to join our team.  You have one last opportunity to volunteer - information is at the end of this email.

1) HSL Entries are due Monday at Noon.  HSL Entries are due at noon on Monday.  Entry fees for HSL Champs need to be turned in on Monday by 5:00 P.M.  No exceptions.  Top times will be updated on the web site today.  We will post an entry verification list on our web site on Monday night or Tuesday morning.  Just a reminder that any swimmer that swam in at least 3 meets is eligible to swim in HSL Champs next weekend - July 21/22.  The top 24 swimmers from the entire league will swim on Sunday (at FGSC!) and everyone else will swim on Saturday.  If you are new to our team, be sure to sign up. This is a fun weekend.

2) Team Picnic - registration and payment deadline is Monday @5:00pm.  If you signed up and have not paid, please drop off your money on Monday.  We do not have time to chase you down.  If you do not pay, you will not be included in the headcount and you will not receive a meal ticket.  If you have not signed up, please do so ASAP.  More information forthcoming on the picnic this week.  If you are new to our team, you do not want to miss this event.

3) Teen Splash for Middle School students - Monday, July 16th - Practice Time change - We will have a combined practice on Monday evening from 5:15-6:30 P.M. All ages groups.   Spread the word about the Middle School Teen Splash - fundraiser for our team!

4) Coin Wars - will continue through Tuesday morning.  

This is where we need your help.  FGST is hosting the Sunday HSL Champs.  We need volunteers for many positions not only for Sunday but also for the Saturday sessions (Timers).

1) If you are participating in HSL Champs, it is expected/required that you sign up for a volunteer position.  You must fulfill this volunteer duty if you child is going to swim for HSL Champs.

2) If you did not yet fulfill your 4 required volunteer positions for this season, this would be your last chance to volunteer - even if you are not participating in HSL Champs.

Hi everyone,

Our final meet of the season is tomorrow against Rock Spring at Rock Spring Swim Club (454 Red Pump Road).  We expect this to be a very good meet with lots of great races.  Rock Spring also has a very good concession stand, so please be sure to visit and help support their team.

Please plan to arrive by 7:15am to check in with your coaches.  Entries have been posted on our web site.  Our warm-ups are at 7:30am and the meet will begin at 8:00am.  We expect the meet to conclude sometime between 11:45am and Noon.  

It could get hot by mid morning, so if you have a tent, please bring it for shade.

Regarding parking: We are expecting the Rock Spring Swim Club (RSSC) parking lot to possibly fill up.  Should this happen, please drop off your swimmers at the pool and go park at Red Pump Elementary School.  Beginning at 7:00am, we will have one (1) shuttle school bus that will be taking families to the pool and returning to your car once the meet is over.  It is less than a 5 minute ride from Red Pump Elementary to RSSC.  Again, go to RSSC first.  Should their parking lot fill, go to Red Pump Elementary.

The HSL (Harford Swim League) Champs are the weekend of July 21st and 22nd.  Here is information that you need to know in order to participate in this meet:

1. FGST is hosting the Sunday Session for the HSL Champs at FGSC!  We will need your help and we have posted a new Sign Up Genius on our web site specifically for HSL Champs.  You must sign-up to volunteer for one (1) position for this meet.  If you do not sign-up to volunteer, you risk that your swimmer(s) will not be eligible to swim.  Please go to our web site and click on '2018 HSL Champs Volunteer Sign Up'. 
   

1. HSL Champs - registration for HSL Champs entries are posted on the FGST web site.  You must register (select the events your swimmer is swimming) for this meet to attend - HSL Champs.  In summary, if you are in the Top 24, you will be swimming on Sunday.  Otherwise you will swim on Saturday.  Top times are posted on our web site.  Please know that even if your swimmer is below the Top 24 (i.e. #30), they may still make the Top 24 if swimmers in front of them do not participate in the HSL Champs or they decide not to swim that particular event.  Please go to our web site and click on '2018 HSL Champs Sign Up'.
2. HSL Champs - as a reminder, the cost is $5.00 per event.  So if you have a swimmer swimming in 3 events, the cost will be $15.  We prefer cash, but will take check (make check out to FGST) and put in the Slotnick mailbox and mark accordingly.  You must make payment by Monday, July 16th at noon. 
3. In order to participate, you need to swim in a minimum of 3 meets this season.
4. HSL Champs - Relays, the coaches will be determining the relays for the meets on both Saturday and Sunday.  FGST will cover the cost of all relays.
5. There is a firm deadline for FGST swimmers of July 16th (by Noon) for signing up for this meet.  If you do not sign-up by this deadline, you will not be swimming in this meet.  No exceptions.  
6. Timers Needed for Saturday sessions: FG will need to provide Timers for the Saturday sessions of HSL Champs.  These positions will also be posted on Sign-Up Genius.  We must provide timers.  If we are short timers and you have a child swimming in one of these sessions, you will be required to time.
7. Stroke and Turn Officials - FGST must provide 2 Stroke and Turn officials for each session of HSL Champs (Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday).  If you can officiate, please reply to this email.

1. Morning practice as usual - don't forget we are decorating posters this morning for our 'Green-out' tonight.  Please bring markers and any poster board material you would like to decorate!
2. Meet tonight at FGSC versus Arena Club - again, this meet will decide the HSL County Championship and we are expecting many close races.  Please encourage your swimmers to be on deck and cheer our team on.

   3. We expect the meet to conclude between 9:15-9:30pm
   4. We will have plenty of good food to purchase including our famous Pulled Pork sandwiches donated by Tim Fisher and Jim Quinn - so please plan to have dinner with us during the meet
   5. We also will have a Greek Food Truck at our meet tonight.  He will be offering authentic Greek Gyros, Souvlaki, Greek fries, Baklava (this is really good!), Rice pudding, Iced Greek Coffee and a whole lot more.  Be sure to come hungry!

We are excited to announce that registration is open for the FGST Awards Picnic and Picture next Wednesday, July 18th.

Please sign up NOW on-line via our web site and drop off your money (cash or check) with Jenn Walsh or Randy Slotnick or put in the Slotnick mailbox.  We have a strict deadline of July 16th and if you do not RSVP and sign-up on line, you will not receive a meal ticket(s) and not be included in the headcount for the food catered by Buontempos.

Last year, we had over 450 swimmers and families attend so please be sure to RSVP as it is a very exciting and fun event for all.  We have a lot of special things planned for this evening!

We hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! It is hard to believe we only have 2 weeks left in our summer swim season! We have many fun things planned for these final weeks, one big one being our 2nd annual Coin War!

Last year our Coin War was an enormous success and this year we are hoping to make it bigger and better!  The Coin War is serving as a fundraiser for the Chesapeake Cancer Foundation. This foundation is very near and dear to the FGST family! Starting on July 9th (Monday) there will be buckets sitting out with the mailboxes at practices. Each age group has a bucket. All swimmers are encouraged to bring in coins to practices and drop them in their age group's bucket. The final coin collection day will be Tuesday July 17th after the evening practice. We will count up the amount raised by each age group and as a team to be revealed at the picnic on Wednesday July 18th! The age group that raised the most money will get to participate in a special event with their team of coaches at AM practice the next day (Thursday 7/20). We will also reveal h ow much we raised as a team and will be donated to the Chesapeake Cancer Foundation. 

We would love to have some parent volunteers sit with the buckets during practices to ensure there is no messing with the buckets. For AM practice, we would ask for a parent(s) to supervise the buckets from 8:30am-10am. For evening practice we would ask from 5:15-6:15pm and 6:15-7:15pm. Please email us (emmybjordan1994@gmail.com and jhruz@ycp.edu) if you would like to volunteer for either slot. Again, the dates are Monday July 9th-Tuesday July 17th. 

So start digging in the seat cushions and emptying out those pockets for any spare change! If you have any questions, please ask Coach Jamie and Coach Emily at practices! Thank you in advance for your donations!

Due to the extreme heat, we have decided to cancel practice for this evening.  Sorry for the short notice, but we are concerned about the heat, high water temperature and air quality.  It's rare that we cancel practice, but we felt this heat wave is extreme and want to take every precaution necessary.

Our biggest meet of the season is upon us - against Bel Air, tomorrow - Saturday, June 30th @ FGSC.

Our pool (which was closed earlier today due to some mechanical issues) is up and running and ready to go.  We are doing a couple special things tomorrow morning, so please plan to arrive no later then 6:45am to check in with your coaches.  

Again, it will be a warm morning and get hot very quickly.  Please plan accordingly with hats, tents and sun screen.  We are asking all FGST families to sit on the left side of the pool and not go past the diving boards.  This should give BAAC plenty of room to spread out as they are a very large team as well.

We expect this to be a close meet with some very exciting races.  Please make sure your swimmers are ready, fed, and hydrated.

The entries for the meet on Saturday against Bel Air are posted on our website.  Warm-ups will begin promptly at 7:00 AM.  We expect the meet to end around 11:30 AM.  It will be hot, so be sure to bring sun screen and tents for shade.  We will have plenty of concessions for everyone - so come hungry and plan to have breakfast and lunch with us!

Our next meet is tonight at Fallston.  Fallston Swim Club is located at 1912 Fallston Road, Fallston MD.  They have limited seating, so please bring chairs.  They will not be selling programs, however, we have posted the program on our web site for you to access and print if needed.  They will not be using the Dolphin system, so the meet will not be on meet mobile.  Fallston has two pools.  Please do not use the front pool as this is open to members.  All swimmers from both teams are expected to remain in the meet pool area.

Fallston has great concessions with pulled pork, hamburgers, hotdogs, fresh veggies and a whole lot more.  They have asked us to come hungry - so lets plan to do that and support their concession stand as they have done for us over the years!

Please see below for important information about our meet tonight.

2) Team Meeting at 5:20pm.  Look for the Coaches!

Despite the threat of bad weather, we had a terrific meet yesterday and some great swims against Aqua Culture.  Thank you to all the FG coaches and volunteers for their help in putting on a terrific meet.  I believe this was the first time ever that we used shuttle buses to arrive to a meet - so thanks everyone for your patience and understanding.  Final results are posted on our web site.

Our next meet is this Wednesday Night at Fallston.  We have a lot of close friends at Fallston and we expect this to be a very fun and good meet with some great races.  

Some important reminders:

1. Scratch NOW if you will not be swimming Wednesday.  We will be submitting entries for this meet tonight.  We need to know now if you will not be at the meet.
2. Movie Night is tomorrow - Monday - June 25th.  We have limited tickets available. See me at practice on Monday morning if you want to purchase tickets.  See below for details:
   1. Location: Horizon Cinemas in Fallston (2315 Bel Air Road - corner of Rt 1 and Rt 152)
   2. Movie time(s): 7:30 P.M. 
   3. Would suggest arriving between 7:00 - 7:15 P.M.

3. Monday Night Practice (June 25th) - adjusted to 5:15pm-6:30pm for all age groups

Hi everyone,

Once again, please see the information below regarding our meet tomorrow.  The meet is at the Conowingo Pool (4948 Conowingo Road, Darlington).  It is basically on Route 1 just before the Conowingo Dam on the left side.  

We are asking all families to park in the assigned parking lot (see below) and shuttle to the pool.  

Please read below carefully:

1. There is a big parking lot with about 125 spaces located about 1 1/2 miles south of the Conowingo Pool.  Specifically, if you start at the intersection of Route 543 and Route 1 and go north on Route 1, the parking lot is up 9 1/2 miles on the right just before the High's Dairy store.  Please park in this lot. 
2. I have arranged for 2 school buses to shuttle us back and forth from the parking lot to Conowingo Pool.  Please take these buses.  They will be there starting at approximately 6:30am and will shuttle through the end of the meet.  Once we are in the pool, we will have one bus at the pool (for anyone that needs to leave early) and one in the parking lot (for any late arrivals).  As the meet gets closer to finish, both busses will be at the pool to shuttle families back to the parking lot.  Each bus hold approximately 40-50 people.
3. Carpool to the parking lot to conserve spaces.
4. We are hoping to post entries to the meet this evening on our web site.
5. Our warm-ups begin at 7:30 A.M. Please arrive in the parking lot for the shuttle buses between 6:45-7:00 A.M. 
6. There is plenty of room for tents, so if it is raining and you have one, please bring it.  You can drop off at the pool and drive back to the parking lot.

Please read below for important information regarding the meet with Aqua Culture this Saturday. 

The meet is at the Conowingo Pool (4948 Conowingo Road, Darlington).  It is basically on Route 1 just before the Conowingo Dam on the left side.

5. Stroke Requests for this meet have been limited.  Please be understanding on this as well.
6. Concessions - I have been told that Aqua Culture will have concessions on hand during this meet to include: Egg sandwiches, donuts, hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, etc.  I would suggest bringing light snacks just in case.
7. Weather - So the predictions are not great for the weather on Saturday.  Here is how it will work:  If the weather is fine, no issues.  If however, on Saturday morning, we wake up and there are storms in the area, we will be notified by Aqua Culture by 6:00 AM. if indeed the meet is postponed.  Please keep an eye on your email on Saturday morning around 6:00 AM.  

As a reminder, it is essential that you park in the designated parking lot and take the shuttle bus to the pool - otherwise you will not be able to find parking. Hi everyone,

Terrific meet last night with our friends from Emmorton.  There were some awesome swims and great races.  We want to thank the Emmorton team and coaches for their help with setting up and running a smooth meet.  Great fun, terrific food and hanging out with friends!  That's what it's all about!! Results are posted on our web site.

Now our next meet is Saturday against Aqua Culture at their pool by the Conowingo Dam.  This is a final reminder to scratch if you are not swimming.  We will be limiting swimmers events at this meet and that is why it is very important that you scratch if you will not be there.  Also, stroke requests for this meet will be limited.

Terrific meet on Saturday!  Congrats to all swimmers. Results have been posted on our web site.

Our season is ramping up and we have a lot going on - especially tomorrow.  Please see below:

• Scratch NOW if you are not swimming in the meet on Wednesday.  This meet is being built today.
• Scratch NOW if you are not swimming in the meet next Saturday (June 23rd).  We are also building this meet and need to know NOW if you are not swimming.  Our team is very large and it is very important for you to do your part and scratch now if you know you will not be in this meet.
• Tomorrow - Monday - June 18th - morning practice starts.  Please check out the schedule on our web site for your swim times.  Please also note the evening practice schedule adjusts as well.  Please be sure to look at the practice schedule.
• June 18th (Monday) - Middle School Teen Splash (for those entering or just finishing Middle School) is Monday night, June 18th from 7:30pm-10pm.  Spread the word as this is a fundraiser for the team!  $10 for entry, pizza, and DJ!  We will be selling Smoothies from Smoothie King as well.
• Evening practice for June 18th is modified because of Middle School Teen Splash.  It is from 5:15pm-6:30pm for all swimmers.  6U swimmers will be done at 5:45pm.
• We encourage as many swimmers as possible to come to the morning practices.  We have the whole pool to ourselves with all 8 lanes.  Please do your best to come to the morning practices.  There is not a need for swimmers to come to both morning and evening practices.
• Our next meet is Wednesday, June 20th against Emmorton, at FGSC.  More information to come.

Are you ready?!!!  Here we go..our first official meet of the season.

Our first meet of the season is tomorrow and it's an 'out of division' meet against both Maryland Golf and Joppatowne at FGSC!  This means that we will not be scoring the meet and it will not count as part of our record.  Times for this meet with count for the season and swimmers will get ribbons for 1st-6th place like our regular meets.

Entries for what each swimmer is swimming are posted on our web site.  Please be sure that your swimmer is entered into the meet if you did not scratch.  If they are not on the list and you did not scratch, please respond to this email ASAP or see the coaches first thing Saturday morning.

Arrival: Please be sure to arrive at FGSC between 6:30-6:45 A.M. as our warm-ups will start promptly at 7:00 A.M. The 10U will warm-up at 7:00 A.M. and the 11 and over will warm-up will begin at approximately 7:10-7:15 A.M.   We expect the meet to conclude around 11:30 A.M.  On Saturday morning, please see the coaches when you arrive to ‘check in’.  Your swimmers will get a card with the events that they are swimming.  We would suggest bringing your own chairs, hats and sunscreen.   We will have plenty of good food on hand to feed hungry swimmers and families at our concession stand.  

Volunteers - please see Kim Sweat when you arrive. We will make announcements on where to go.

Relays – Relays will be posted on the coaches table as you arrive to the pool.  It is important to notify the coaches if you cannot participate in a relay at the beginning or end of a meet.  Also, you must be present at warm-ups to swim in the first event/relay which is the 8 and under.   

Team Uniform (FGST Suit and FGST Cap) for meets: We would also like to remind all new and returning swimmers that they are expected to wear their FG swim suit for all meets.  In addition, all swimmers wearing swim caps will be expected to wear FGST swim caps.  If you need a FG swim cap, please come to our apparel table before the meet. We will be set up on the picnic table to the left when you enter the pool.  We have the new silicone caps for sale!

Programs - Meet programs will be available at the concession stand for $1.00.

Apparel - we will be selling Cash & Carry apparel at tomorrows meet.  Please be sure to stop by.

Movie Tickets - tickets are selling fast - please purchase tomorrow at the meet.

This is a final reminder about our meet this Saturday regarding Scratches and Stroke Requests.  Because of our large team, our coaches will begin putting in entries tonight.

You must Scratch by 4:00 pm today in order to be removed from the meet.  If you are not swimming, go to our web site and scratch now!

If you want your swimmer to swim a particular stroke, you must submit your Stroke Request by 4:00 pm today.  Please know that stroke requests are not a guarantee. Our Head Coaches have final decision on all event entries.  For those new to our team, you do not need to submit a stroke request. The coaches will put your swimmers in their best events or events that they feel your swimmers are capable of swimming.

Hi everyone,

We had a very successful inter-squad scrimmage on Saturday!  We had a lot of terrific swims and we appreciate the hard work of all the volunteers to pull everything together.  We learned a lot from this meet, and trained new stroke and turn officials.  More to come, but if you are new to our team, this is a taste of what our meets will be like - just much bigger and a lot more swimmers!   Some quick notes from the scrimmage:

• Results of our Scrimmage are posted on our web site.
• Parents - please don't approach the Scorers Table during the meets.  We are very busy during the meet making sure we get all of the accurate times of each swim recorded.  If you see a problem with the posted results of your swimmer(s), please see either Coach Jamie or Emily and they will get the problem resolved. 

Important:  Scratch NOW if you are not participating in the meet this Saturday, June 16th.  Please remember, if you do not scratch, you will automatically be entered into the meet.  Our coaches are building the line-up today and tomorrow and we need to know if you will NOT be there.  Our team is very large and we cannot afford to have open lanes if you are a 'no show'.  We are very strict with this policy if you do NOT scratch and are a 'no show'.  Again, Scratch NOW if you are not swimming this Saturday!

Advertisements for our Meet programs: If you would like to put an Advertisement into our meet programs, please email Jim Quinn at: psuquinny@gmail.com.  We have 5 home meets this year and your advertisement will appear in our programs for all of the meets.  The cost is $100 for a full page and $50 for 1/2 page.  We will need a PDF of your ad as well.  Again, please email Jim Quinn directly and he can give you more information.

We are all set for our FGST Inter-Squad Scrimmage tomorrow, Saturday, June 9th.  We can't wait to see everyone.  Entries for the meet have been posted on our web site.  Please keep in mind that this is only a scrimmage and the coaches did their best in putting this meet and entries together very quickly. 

Should we have any rain or storms tomorrow morning, please check your email.  I will post an update between 6:00-6:30 am should we have weather issues.  In the event of just light showers, the meet will go on as expected.  Should we get heavier rain or storms, we will either slightly delay the meet (if the storms look to pass through quickly) or cancel the meet. 

Here are the details:

• Arrive no later then 7:15am tomorrow morning.
• Have swimmers 'Check In' with the coaches when they arrive.
• Swimmers should be wearing their team suit and cap (if they are wearing a cap).
• Programs will be for sale for $1.00 
• Warm-ups will begin promptly at 7:30am
• Meet starts at 8:00am
• Expect the meet to end around 10am.
• Swimmers are either swimming 1, 2, or 3 events and possibly a relay.
• Refreshments will be for sale (donuts, bagels, fresh fruit and drinks). This is a fundraiser - please support our team.
• We need Timers - please sign up or be prepared to volunteer to time on Saturday morning (new families, don't worry, we will train you).  We cannot run the meet without Timers.
• We may need other help - please be prepared to step up.
• FGST Apparel will be for sale during the meet.
• You may want to bring chairs - and don't forget the sunscreen should the sun come out!!!

For new swim families, I know that this can seem overwhelming.  Don't worry, we will guide you through and it will all make sense very quickly.  Again, this is just a scrimmage, so plan to have fun, enjoy the swimming and the progress we have already seen with our swimmers.

If you have not signed up for the scrimmage for this Saturday, we have extended the deadline to sign up until 4:00 pm today.  Again, you need to sign up for this meet in order to participate.  If you are not swimming in the scrimmage, you do not need to scratch out.  

The scrimmage is a great meet for new families as it gives you an idea of how our meets work.  It also gives our coaches a progress update of all the young and new swimmers.  

We expect the scrimmage to begin around 7:30 am and finish up around 10:00 am.  More details to come.

We finished our first week of the season and had fantastic practices last week for all the age groups.  

The weather looks great this week with the sun mostly out and warming temps!  Hooray!!! -  as it has been a few days since we last saw blue skies!

A few reminders - especially if you missed our parent meeting:

1. Scrimmage Meet - deadline to sign up is Tuesday at 7:00 pm.  You need to sign up for the scrimmage if you plan on attending.  We need Timers for the scrimmage - please sign up if you can.  If you have never 'timed' before, don't worry, we will train you and it's really easy.
2. Volunteers - we still have over 75 positions left to be filled. Please sign-up if you haven't fulfilled your obligation of 4 spots.  The link is on our web site.  We will come looking for you if you haven't signed-up.
3. Movie tickets - we will be selling movie tickets at practice this week for our Movie Night on June 25th.  Tickets are going fast.  Please be sure to purchase as we expect them to sell out.

Hi everyone!

Today is the day - our opening night...Are you ready??!!!  We are!!!  Time to buckle up and put your seatbelt on - as it will be a fun and fast ride!  If you are new to our team or new to Summer Swimming, your life for the next 50 or so days is about to change (don't worry, it's a very good change)!

Our coaches are well prepared and extremely excited to get started with all the swimmers and very much are looking forward to a fun and great season. We expect this to be a very busy night - so bear with us these first few days.  It's organized chaos at its best.  We have plenty of coaches for all of our practices and they will be wearing their green coaches shirts tonight.  Don't forget to check the web site for practice times.

Important Parent Meeting - Please plan to attend! - we have a Parent Meeting at 6:30 P.M. tonight during our practice and we are hoping for a representative from all returning and new swimming 'parents' to attend.  We have a lot of new and important information to provide to you.  We expect the parent meeting to conclude around 7:15-7:30 P.M., so please plan accordingly with regards to your children's practice times on this evening.

This is a quick email to let you know that we will be going live with our Volunteer Sign-up on Thursday, May 24th at 8:00 pm. Please visit our FGST web site at that time and look for the Sign-Up Genius link for volunteer positions.

FGST prides itself on running the best meets in Harford County. Our meets run well because of our parent volunteers. During the course of the 2018 season, we will have over 600 volunteer positions available.  Each family is responsible for signing up for a minumum of at least 4 positions.  

We have 5 home meets this year which is the main reason why we are asking you to volunteer for 4 positions.  FGST is one of only a few teams to offer half meet volunteer spots to make it convenient for parents to both volunteer and enjoy seeing their children swim.

Again, Volunteer positions will go live at 8:00 pm on Thursday and you can sign up for volunteer positions on line at that time via Sign-Up Genius at www.fgswimteam.com

Are you interested in becoming a Stroke and Turn Official for our swim meets?

In order for our meets to run smoothly, we need 'Certified Officials' that monitor the stroke of each swimmer to ensure that they are swimming each of the strokes legally.

If you have officiated in past years or are interested this year, please visit our web site for sign-up information.  You must sign-up in order to attend one of the Officials meeting which are held at the end of May.  After attending this program, you will then be a Certified Official.  The dates in May are May 17th, 20th, 22nd and 24th.  You need to only sign up for one of these dates.

Our first registration last week was a huge success.  We had over 100 swimmers complete their registration which was fantastic.  For those that pre-registered on-line, our next registration (to pay registration fees) is this Saturday, May 5th from 10:00 am - Noon at FG Swim Club.  If you are new to our swim team, you can purchase your team suit on this date as well.  If you are on our wait list to join our team, we will contact you after our final registration on May 12th.  

We have some deadlines fast approaching, some new dates to hold and a ton of other stuff - so lets get right to it:

1. May 5th Registration:  FG Swim Club.  10:00 AM - Noon.   All returning and new families (that had previously registered on-line) are welcome to come.  If you can't make this date, our final registration is May 12th.  We take cash or check for registration fees.

4. May 29th (Tuesday) - 1st evening practice and Parent Meeting - Be sure to make plans to attend.  Lots of important information to share!
5. Practice Schedules - our evening practice schedule (when school is in session) is posted on our web site.  Be sure to read it carefully as it is slightly different from last year (older swimmers practice first this year).
6. June 9th (Saturday) - Save the morning for our FGST Inter-Squad Scrimmage meet.  More to come, but hold the morning please.
   
7. June 14th - Save the Evening - Special Social event for FGST at the pool!
8. June 25th - Save the Evening - Movie Night - more information to come!
9. July 18th - FGST Awards Picnic - for those new to our team, our Award Picnic is the highlight of our season.  We typically have over 400 swimmers and families attend.  Please be sure to hold this evening for this special event at FG Swim Club.

Our swim team registration was extremely successful. We have begun wait-listing families.  If you are a returning family to FGST and still plan on joining our team, you need to sign-up via our wait-list link on our web site by this Friday, April 13th.  This is very important and will be your last chance to sign-up for FGST if you haven't already. 

All returning swim team families have first priority over non-FGSC/non-FGST families until April 13th.  We will make room for you to return to our team if you sign up by this date.  If you do not sign up by April 13th, your spot will be open to new families that want to join our team.

Yes, it's almost February - and the days are cold and nights are colder - but I know, because I have been receiving emails - that you are already thinking about Summer Swimming!

Well - hang tight because there are only 119 days until our first practice!  That really isn't that far away.

Please be sure to check our web site out as we have posted our registration dates, swim meet dates and other important information to note on your calendar for vacation purposes. Our plans this year include our golf outing, possible scrimmage meet, movie night, pizza and breakfast socials as well as our eagerly anticipated FGST Awards Picnic!

NEW:  FGST will be hosting the Sunday HSL Champs at FG Swim Club - more information to come for sure but please know that we will need your help as we begin to plan for this large event.
