Green Hornets Basketball Players and Parents,

We are extremely happy to be able to use the brand new facilities at Severna Park High School. Please follow these guidelines when accessing and using the building. Any violations will be reported to Green Hornets. We do not want to lose our use of these two gyms because without these courts our game times will be greatly reduced.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, Commission Liam O'Callaghan, or your league director.

SPHS Auxiliary Gym

  • Use Gym Parking Lot (back of school building-148 parking spaces and additional Handicap spaces available) for Saturday Scrubs games.
  • Access to the Aux Gym will be through the double grey doors located on the outside of the Fitness Lab (prior to entering the Gym entrance, on the left side of Gym entrance sidewalk area) for entry/exit for parents/fans, coaches, players and refs.  The grey double doors lead directly to the Aux Gym hallway.  The Gym Lobby doors will NOT be accessible to anyone for entry/exit on Saturdays.
  • We will have the custodian place a rack of folding chairs (that have protective glides on feet of chair) in the Aux Gym hallway (outside of Aux Gym) for parents/fans, players, coach, and ref use.  The parents/fans will sit on the side closest to the Aux doors (opposite the teams and scorer’s table side) in the folding chairs provided by the school.
  • We ask that the last team to play that day place the folding chairs back on the rack in the Aux hallway, and just leave the rack of chairs in the hallway outside the Aux Gym.

Note:  Parents/fans may NOT bring their own chairs, they MUST use the folding chairs provided by the school to protect our Aux Gym floor.

  • The farthest side of the court (opposite of Aux Gym doors) will be the teams and scorer’s table side.  Folding chairs will be provided by the school for teams, coaches and scorer’s table person’s use.  We will also provide a folding table for the scorer’s table; GH will provide the portable digital scoreboard to be placed on the scorer’s table.
  • The Aux Gym walls are completely surrounded by padded walls, so it will provide a safe playing environment for the slightly smaller court.
  • Gym Lobby bathrooms will be accessible for parents/fans, players, coaches and refs and can be accessed by walking down the Boys’ Locker Room hallway (on backside of Main Gym), then take immediate right and follow that hallway into the Gym Lobby, where the bathrooms are located between the large Gym Lobby glass Athletics Showcase.
  • Gym Lobby not for gathering area and not a “playground” for children.  Children attending games must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
  • NO access to the rest of the school building.

SPHS Main Gym

  • Use Gym Parking Lot (back of school building-148 parking spaces and additional Handicap spaces available) for Sunday Scrubs games.
  • Access will be through the Gym Lobby doors to enter Gym Lobby.  Access to Main Gym is directly from Gym Lobby.
  • We will have the custodian place a rack of folding chairs (that have protective glides on feet of chair) on the far side (the Home side—left side as you enter Main Gym) of the Main Gym so coaches, teams, refs and scorer’s table persons can use that side of the gym for seating.  A folding table will be provided by the school for scorer’s table use; GH will provide the portable digital scoreboard to be placed on the scorer’s table.
  • Bleachers will NOT be pulled out on the teams side of the Main Gym.
  • We will have the custodian pull the bleachers out on the Visitor side (right side, as you enter Main Gym) and parents/fans can sit in bleachers.  Plenty of bleacher space to use for parents/fans.
  • Gym Lobby bathrooms will be accessible for parents/fans, players, coaches and refs.
  • Gym Lobby not a “playground” for children.  Children attending games must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
  • NO access to the rest of the school building.

Sincerely,

Judy Tacyn
