Game 6 vs. Brighton Minuteman 5/24/10

Brighton beat Knights in an East Boston Minute.

East Boston, MA........The lights went off in Eastie in a major way tonight. First the lights went out on the team's ace Brian Cosentino for the season then the lights literally never came on at the park. After a 20 minute delay the lights came on and the Knights wish they never had. Cosentino aggravated a shoulder injury and looks to be done for the year. "It is similar to an old injury and feels like it did before I ended my season two years ago" The lights also never came on for the offense as the team could only muster up 5 hits. The only positve note was that the bench guys got an appearance in this one many making thier YBL debut......Next up for the Knights at Mckay Club Beacons at McConnell Park at 7:30.

Game 7 vs Mckay Club 5/26/10

Higgans shines as Knights tie Beacons

Dorchester, MA........As the sky put on a light show Tyler Higgans kept the ground lit. Thunderstorms delayed the game 30 minutes and Higgans delayed the Beacons to the tune of 2 hits, 6 k's and 0 earned runs through 7 solid innings. The Knights showed some heart following the loss to Brighton earlier in the week with a much better performance in this one. The Knights scored a single run in the 3rd, 4th and 5th to scratch back in this one. Defense still reared it's ugly head but overall it was a better showing. Due to time the game was called in the 8th inning as a tie. Yawkey league rules state no inning can start after 10:30. Steve Maycock made his Knights debut coming in, in the 8th holding the tie...Next up for the Knights at Savin Hill 7:30 start.

Game 8 vs South Boston Saints 6/4/10

Knights put scare on Southie Dorchester, MA....Eastie vs. Southie live from..... Dorchester?? Besides that all seemed right in this one. Tough aggressive baseball from start to finish. From Southie having batting practice as the Knights were stretching to the collision at second base and plays at the plate. In the end Southie survived a dogfight at Ronan. Tyler Higgans got the start for the Knights and looked sluggish. Through two innings Higgans had thrown 62 pitches, that and with a combination of walks and bad plays he exited stage left. On came Paul Astletine for his Yawkey League debut and looked good. He allowed a HR but settled down and kept the game close. The Knights had the tying run on second with two outs in the 7th but came up empty. Kyle Provost pinch-hit for Jonathon Scull and grounded out to short to end the game......Next up for the Knights vs. Brighton Braves at 7:30.

Game 9 vs. Brighton Braves 6/7/10

Knights and Braves nearly no hit each other East Boston, MA.........An exciting game turns into a laugher in the end, but don't let the score fool you. Steven Maycock making his first start for the Knights held the Braves hitless through 5 1/3 innings before surrendering 4 straight hits in the sixth inning. The Braves had some history happening on thier end also as Evan Schein had a no hit bid entering the 6th. With one out in the sixth a Geoff Harris triple ended the bid and was left stranded at third base. The Knights had 1 runner reach third base in 3 straight innings only to squander those opportunities each time. "The chances are there for the taking, we must capitalize" said bench coach Mastalerz. That about somes up this season so far.....Next up for the Knights at Brighton Blacksox Rogers Park 7:30.

Game 10 vs Brighton Black Sox 06/10/10

Blacksox take season series 2-0...Brighton, MA.......The East Boston Knight rollercoaster continues. What looked early to be a rainout the two teams muddled though the night as the Blacksox dragged Eastie through the mud to win 11-0. This game started with promise as the Knights loaded the bases in each of the first two innings but could not get the big hit when needed. Defense at shortstop killed the Knights as they had 6 errors between Jesse Stanley and Joe Moritz. Walks continued to be a problem and just bad luck. Darth Vader (Jack Bader) started the game and looked sharp after one.....and thats when the wheels came off for the former Star Wars villian. Luke's father gave up four runs in an inning that included 3 hits, 2 walks and all kinds of bad karma. He never made it out of the 2nd as TJ McAndrew ended the threat. McAndrew had a similar inning in the 4th and was charged with 4 runs (2 unearned). The Knights had no punch in this one as they extended thier scoreless innings streak to 14 innings......Next up for the Knights at Revere vs the Rockies, Sunday at 5:30.
