Miami Country Day boys’ soccer coach Jeff Watson notched his 200th victory at the school as the Spartans defeated Braddock 3-1 on Tuesday.
Before coaching the Spartans, Watson had his start at Archbishop Curley and then moved to Sunset. He has a total of 447 career wins.
“We played hard and won against a big school,” Watson said. “We got back into passing the ball and started playing simple soccer.”
In a combined effort, Genaro Garcia, Eduardo Macedo and Daniel Mendez each scored a goal for the Spartans (10-10-3).

Viaud, Salgado score goals to lift short-handed Varela
.With two starters out of the game, Alex Viaud and Danny Salgado led Varela to a 2-1 victory over Edison on Tuesday.

With about 20 minutes on the clock the Danny Salgado scored the first goal giving the Vipers (13-2) an early lead.

The second goal came from Alex Viaud with nearly 15 minutes left in the second half to give the team a one-goal advantage.

With goalie Damian Lewis allowing only one goal, his seven saves closed out the game. Lewis has led the defense with 10 shutouts and only six goals allowed in the past 15 games.

Varela will face Killian on Friday, a rematch of an early December game in which the Vipers defeated the Cougars 1-0.
