The Delco Athletes Hall of Fame has announced that Ron Anderson of Nether Providence will be the recipient of the Andrew W. MacMurtrie Sportsman of the Year award for 2015.

The presentation will be made at the association’s Hall of Fame awards dinner Sunday, April 19, at the Concordville Inn.

Anderson has been involved in all levels of youth athletics, primarily as a baseball coach, administrator and executive. He also spent a number of years working on Nether Providence’s “Field of Dreams,” which was renamed the Robert Urban Recreational Fields.

He began coaching in 1989 with his daughter’s T-Ball team, then became the league director. He has been president of the Nether Providence Athletic Association since 1992.

In 2005, he introduced American Legion baseball to Nether Providence. He is co-commissioner of the Main Line American Legion League and president of the Chester County American Legion Sandlot League.
