The Mendocino Boys Baseball Team notched its first victory of the season with a commanding 16-3 league-victory at Calistoga on Tuesday, March 20.

The Cardinals' offense came to life with a well-balanced attack, led by a terrific all-around performance from Tony Melia. Melia finished the game 3x4 with four RBIs, four runs scored, a home run and a walk. Melia was just as lethal on the mound after striking out 11 in five innings of work, allowing just one earned run off two hits. Elliot Hee finished the game on the mound with a scoreless sixth inning after striking out all three batters.

Matt Defer continues to swing the bat well with a 3x4 performance, adding three RBIs off two triples and scoring a run in the process. Cody Binyon went 2x2, with an RBI, a run scored and a walk, while Hee finished 1x2 with an RBI, three runs scored and three walks. Taylor Taff rounded out the Cardinals' offense after finishing the game with a hit, two walks and three runs scored.

The Cardinals will be back in action at home on Tuesday, April 3 as the team hosts Santa Rosa Christian, game starting at 4 p.m.
