Libby 51, Columbia Falls 43
At Libby, it was a dash to the finish line and Class B Libby held on to win.
The Loggers and their Class A opponents from Columbia Falls each scored 20 points in the fourth quarter as the tempo skyrocketed late. Erik Lauer's 15 points helped Libby (5-2) keep the advantage though.
Matthew Anderson sparked the C. Falls (1-6) surge with 18 points though it was not enough.

Corvallis 49, Thompson Falls 45
At Thompson Falls, the Bluehawks funneled the ball to Danny Hoisington as much as they could but Class A Corvallis presented too tall a task.
The Blue Devils (2-4) edged T. Falls, a Class B school, because of their depth. Three boys reached double figures scoring and seven in all tallied points. Logan Roth's 14 led the way, a total that included four 3-pointers.
Hoisington on the other hand piled up a game-high 22 points in the Hawks' (1-6) loss.

BELGRADE RETURNS WITH WIN AT PARK:
Park and head coach Layne Glaus set out to make sure Panthers point guard Dawson Fowler didn’t hurt them early Friday.
Brock Salsbury picked up his teammate and the rest of Belgrade.
He scored 20 of his 23 points in the first half, good for 80 percent of the Panthers’ scoring over the opening 16 minutes, and helped Mike Deming’s team post a 56-37 win.
“I think they focused so much on Dawson that he was able to show what he’s capable of doing,” Deming said. “He’s one of our better shooters and when he got the ball in space, he did what he’s supposed to do.”
The Rangers hung tough for the first half, but Belgrade (5-2 overall, 2-1 Central A) used a 17-10, third-quarter advantage to pull ahead by double digits.
“They started focusing on Brock and that opened it up some for other guys like Hayden (VanWinkle) and Dawson,” Deming said. “But the leadership of Trey Layman was the reason we separated. When the ball’s in his hands, great things happen and he also had some big defensive rebounds. His leadership was the difference.”
After the holiday layoff, the Panthers play on back-to-back days. They host Browning tonight at Montana State’s Worthington Arena to make up a December postponement.
“I think they were excited to play somebody else,” Deming said of his players. “We’re playing young players and trying to get some experience. We’re making some experience-related mistakes and the game was relatively tight for most of it.
“We need to execute some situations and our defense needs to get a lot better. We’re a long ways from where we need to be defensively.”
Billings Central's Chrishon Dixon leads Rams over Miles City
At times, Billings Central High boys basketball coach Jim Stergar has to remind himself just how old point guard Chrishon Dixon is.
"We don't view him as a sophomore," Stergar admitted. "Last year, he proved himself as an all-conference freshman. He's no longer a sophomore. He's a senior, that's just the way it is. We don't look at him as a young kid anymore."

However, he added, "Sometimes, that's not a good thing for us to do. We do need to realize that he has some learning still to do but his effort is amazing."
That effort was on full display Friday night when Dixon stepped up to play extra minutes when leading scorer Shay Dantic got into foul trouble early. Dixon finished with 13 points, tied for a team high in orchestrating the Rams to a 61-52 victory over Miles City at the Nelles Activities Center.
It was a point guard battle between Dixon and Miles City's Tyler Burk. Burk was the game's leading scorer with 24 points before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter.
Dantic is normally Dixon's replacement when the smooth-passing lefty takes a breather. However, due to the early foul trouble, Dixon rarely saw the bench.
The sophomore, however, was just happy to help.
"I try to do my best on both ends of the court," Dixon said. "I wanted to try and score more on the offensive side since Shay was in foul trouble. So I tried to pick it up on offense to help the team out and get this win tonight."
Dixon's passing is one to behold, threading the defense. Having been tasked with guarding the other team's best player on top of his aggressive driving ability, makes it a tiring night of basketball.
Dixon however, enjoyed every minute of it.
"He's a great player," Dixon said of Burk. "He's really fast and it's hard to keep up with him but I tried my best.
"It was a challenge from both of us. Players have to go at each other and we have to challenge our opponents and try to get the best out of each other."
Dantic also scored 13, all in the second half, in helping the Rams (4-1) seal the win. Peyton Hanser added 12 points.
Burk tied the game at 50-50 with about four minutes left, but fouled out not too long after. His absence was noted as the Rams went on a 11-0 run to pull away for good.
"Tyler's a competitor and obviously the way the game went we needed him on the floor," Miles City coach Houston Finn said. "When he went out it changed our dynamics a bit."
Finn also had nothing but praise for the Central sophomore Dixon.
"Chrishon's a great player. Smooth and quick," he said. "It was fun to watch."
