BELGRADE WRAPS UP CONFERENCE TITLE:

Mike Deming’s Panthers already clinched the Central A crown with last week’s win over Fergus, but asserted their dominance one last time with a blowout victory against Park on Friday.

Belgrade (11-3 overall, 7-1 Central A) raced out to a 34-10 halftime lead and coasted to a 62-45 triumph. Brock Salsbury led the way with 16 points, Trey Mounts added 12 and Spencer Gordon 10.

“Our defense played great with intensity,” Deming said. “They were very good on ball movement and execution offensively. They played sound, fundamental basketball, and we capitalized on some breakdowns and made open shots.”

The head coach added that five players hit 3s and role players once again lifted the team without standout Dawson Fowler. The guard is still nursing an ankle injury, but could have played if needed.

This is the fifth straight year Belgrade has finished atop the conference standings.

“This was a great effort for the seniors to elevate their skills in the offseason and continue this trend,” Deming said. “These guys stepped up. Now we got a couple of weeks, and a couple games next week to work on some things.”

Belgrade will host Jefferson and Manhattan next week, and then travels to Butte Central and Beaverhead County the following week before divisionals begin Feb. 22 in Billings.
