NEWS FROM THE WILLOWS

25 January, 2015

Following three successive league wins wins Walsham took on Thetford Town in a local derby.

The hosts started brightly and had two good chances to open the scoring. Wood hit the bat following great work from Brame. Wood opened the scoring with a neat finish halfway through the first half with Walsham in total control. Jack Brame scored our second goal at the start of the second half with a sublime free kick. We then failed to finish off Thetford  and the visitors reduced the arrears with seven minutes to go from the penalty spot after Robinson was harshly adjudged to have fouled his opponent.

We then survived another penalty shout and were left hanging on at the end despite dominating the game through out.

We need to take our chances when dominating matches such as this.

The Reserves came back from Gorleston with a great 3-2 win. A Jordan Smith penalty and strikes from captain Ben Virtue (last minute of the game)and rare Sam Last effort accounted for our goals. Through there were two sending offs in the game, one from each side this was an end to end game with both teams going all out for the win.

The Reserves play Diss Town Wednesday night, 28th January in the Chell Trophy 7.45 kick off.

The B side became the first Walsham senior side to lose this year when two own goal's gave Ram Meadow reserves a two nil victory .

Finally it was good to see the first team had a night out in Bury to say goodbye to Chris McLaughlin who is moving to London. Macca has been an asset to us and will be sadly missed.
