    Rapids Ink More Players
The Rapids announced the signing of two players following the release of Ryan Calabro. The Lackawanna Rapids have signed Scott Wisse and Vinny Plateroti. The Rapids also have announced the possibility of trading Shane Hanley or TJ Doherty in the offseason.

    Cutters Edge Warriors 3-1
Brian Sedeyn gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead before their team even took the field. A solo homerun from Sedeyn, his first, put the Warriors up 1-0 after one. Unfortunately, the Cutters tied the game in the bottom of the third after a Nick Pezzano RBI single. In the fourth, Justin Smith's RBI double gave the Cutters a 2-1 lead. Glen Wilke's RBI triple in the fifth put the Cutters up 3-1. The Cutters would go on to win 3-1 and improve their record to 2-7.

Brian Sedeyn pitched five innings, surrendering three runs and striking out three. He took the loss. Nick Pezzano earned the win, going six innings, striking out four. Glen Wilke picked up a save, entering the game with first and second with no outs in the sixth. He struck out the next two batters on full counts to end the game.

Cutters Take Skid; Playoff Format Announced; Ranks
In this week's national rankings, the Lackawanna Rapids are ranked 15th overall. The Filippone Heat are ranked 30th. In this week, the Heat improved their record to 19-6 while the Rapids went 1-0. Both teams are expected to move up even more.

The Cutters, after starting 1-0 on the year, have fallen to 1-7. Their 7 game losing streak consists of 6 losses 3 runs or less. The only team under .500 in the East still has 22 games left. If they can bring their record to .500, playoffs are most likely in their future.

The Rapids announced the signing of rookie Scott Wisse. In the transaction, the Rapids dumped Ryan Calabro, who stated that he will not play in 2009.

For the 2009 playoffs, the team with the best record in each division will make the playoffs. The next two teams in the league with the best records will make the playoffs. Like the past, the best record will play the worst record.

The Cutters team page will be fully up by July 2. Our server is still slow and thanks for your patience.
