Alabama Sports Law
The 2002 Alabama Sports Law is designed to protect "sports officials" from the crimes of menacing, harassments, and assault. Everyone who attends or participates in any organized sporting event should familiarize themselves with this law, and the punishment if convicted. Among those protected under the law include persons who enforce the rules, such as umpires or referees, and those who supervise the events, such as coaches or league officials. The entire law and the code of criminal punishment for conviction is available in the Handouts Section.
Update!! - It is now a class "C" felony for a conviction on the above law.
