Hello friends.  We hope that this message finds you and your families staying safe and healthy in the midst of the COVID19 Pandemic.

The City of Norwalk has released a Covid-19 Reopen Plan that has allowed us to better plan for a potential Summer Baseball program.  Here is the link to the City’s plan https://www.norwalkct.org/DocumentCenter/View/16534/City-of-Norwalk-Reopening-Plan_FINAL

The City’s Reopen Plan has 4 phases.  Pick-up games, team play, and practices will be allowed on parks and school athletic fields in Phase 4.  Phase 1 will begin on May 20th, but we do not know when the other phases will begin.

Our plan has been to provide a Summer Clinic format similar to our Spring Training sessions as soon as we are cleared to be begin by the City and State.  Our hope is that we will be able to begin these sessions in Phase 3 or worst case in Phase 4.

Assuming one month increments, Phase 3 would begin on or around July 20th.  So our Summer Clinic could start as early as then and run for 4-6 weeks depending on the timing of the phases.   In order to comply with guidelines, we will us a multi station approach and break the players into groups of 4 or 5.  This will allow us to maximize repetitions and focus while also maintaining physical distances.

We are putting together a fundamentals focused program where we will work on things like proper mechanics, footwork, and posture, as well as physical and mental preparedness.  But we also intend to have some fun and peak the players competitive interests.  That could include home run derby, base hit derby, knockout, king of the diamond, etc.  OR with any luck and depending on direction from the City and State, we may be able to get some live scrimmages in!

We will adjust the dates based on updates to the City's plan.   At this point, we are only considering clinics in July and August. When the City provides more clarity on when each phase is set to begin, we will open registration for you to sign up.  We should then be able to give you a better idea of the timeframe and more detail on the format.

The Summer Clinic will be open to all Babe Ruth ball players and there will be NO CHARGE to join.  Depending on the numbers, there may be a need to separate 18U and 15U players entirely but for now, we're planning on having everyone on the field together.

I want to be clear that our plan is still developing and is NOT set in stone.  There is still a strong possibility that we may not have Summer Baseball at all, but we have a plan in place and will be ready to start just as soon as we get approval from the City.

NBR remains committed to providing the best possible experience to our players and their families and will keep you informed along the way as things develop.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and God bless!

Sincerely,

Norwalk Babe Ruth

2020 SPRING/SUMMER SEASON - UPDATE

Hello friends.  We hope that this message finds you and your families staying safe and healthy as the COVID19 Pandemic continues to affect our daily lives.

We just received word from the state commissioner and we have good news.  Babe Ruth has every intention of having a spring/summer season.  With that said, we still have no idea when we will be able to take the field.  We will be keeping in close contact with Norwalk parks and rec so that we are immediately aware of any changes to restrictions on field use as well as working with state and district league officials to map out a plan to salvage the 2020 season.

Keep in mind, the most important thing that we can do as a community is to continue to follow the advice of the CDC and our local medical health professionals, practice social distancing, stay safe, and if possible, stay home.

NBR remains committed to providing the best possible experience to our players and their families and will continue to keep you informed along the way as things develop.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and God bless!

Sincerely,

Norwalk Babe Ruth

COVID19 UPDATE - 2020 SPRING SEASON

Hello friends.  We hope that this message finds you and your families staying safe and healthy in the midst of the COVID19 Pandemic.

I am sure many of you have been wondering what is going to happen with the spring season and whether or not there will even be a season.  As a league we find ourselves in an unprecedented situation and as such we are taking this decision very seriously.

For right now, we feel that it is premature to completely cancel anything as we do not know what the future holds.  With that said, we are also not able to give a start date or estimated timeframe as to when we will be able to take the field.  Keeping that in mind, it is important that we all do what we can to prevent the spread of the virus and follow the advice of the CDC and our local medical health professionals.

NBR remains committed to providing the best possible experience to our players and their families and will keep you informed along the way as things develop.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and God bless!

Sincerely,

Norwalk Babe Ruth

2020 SPRING SEASON REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

Thank you for choosing Norwalk Babe Ruth and welcome to the 2020 Spring Baseball season!  We are excited to continue our commitment to Norwalk baseball and to the community by providing the best playing experience
possible.  This season, we will continue our very successful "Spring Training" program which focuses on the development of skills, baseball IQ, and strength & conditioning with the goal of getting the players ready for the season.  This is an opportunity for the players to learn proper hitting & throwing mechanics, posture, situational baseball, base running, etc. and to practice what they've learned before putting it to use in live games.

We typically hold 3 sessions per week each lasting about 2 hours and we do that for about 3-4 weeks.  After the initial preparation and development phase we will start playing games.  This is usually about 2-4 weeks before High School gets released.

FAQ's:

  • Eligibility: Players who are 13 on or before May 1, 2020 are eligible as well as players who have aged out of their Little League program. Registration numbers will determine age divisions, but following our success this past spring with a combined 15U (13-15) that is our current plan.
  • Evaluations: We don't offer tryouts for Jr/Sr Babe Ruth but we do offer the Spring Training program, as outlined above, which serves as a rolling evaluation for those players not playing High School baseball.
  • Fields: We play 60/90 fields - same as high school. We have 4 in Norwalk: BMHS, NHMS, Roton MS & City Hall. We do not offer 50/70 as we feel our league is to prepare for high school play.
  • Competition: For Jr/Sr Babe Ruth, we play a Norwalk vs Norwalk schedule as well as surrounding towns with Babe Ruth programs: Fairfield, Darien, Stamford, Weston, Wilton, Trumbull, Danbury, Newtown, Ridgefield etc.

If you have questions regarding any of our programs, please don’t hesitate to contact Derek Natalie at djnatalie@yahoo.complease add your name and a contact number and he'll be sure to get back to you.

INTRODUCING THE NEW REVOLUTION PROGRAM DIRECTORS

We'd like to introduce three new members to the Revolution program. The purpose of these additions is to continue to move the Revolution program forward in the direction best suited for our players.

Jimmy Benincaso Dir Operations: Jimmy was the head coach of our 2019 13-15 Babe Ruth World Series team. He brings 10 years of coaching experience across multiple programs and high school. His primary role will be to assist in running the program as well as defining schedules, tournaments and showcases for all the teams..

Leon Fleming, Dir Development/Recruiting: Leon was not only a coach on our 2019 World Series team, he also played on the last World Series team in Norwalk. His role will be to build out our player development in season and off season, prepare the players for college recruiting via video, showcases and networking.

Matt Harbilas, Dir Academic Counseling: Matt will use his skills as an educator, a high school coach and personal experience to ensure that all of our Revolution players find the right college fit and to meet the standards required for college acceptance.

The addition of these new positions will enhance the Revolution program significantly. Each brings enthusiasm, dedication and experience to the Revolution program. Entering our fifth year, we have had numerous successes, and some unexpected challenges. Having these three new voices and perspectives will help us minimize the challenges and create new successes.

As the travel division of Norwalk Babe Ruth Baseball, we plan to build strong relationships with the youth leagues - NLL and NCR, both NHS and BMHS's baseball programs to strengthen Norwalk baseball and to continue to provide baseball opportunities for all players in the city regardless of their ability.

NORWALK REVOLUTION 14'S WIN 2018 NE REGIONALS! DEFEAT DEFENDING CHAMPS KEENE NH 3-2 IN 10 INNINGS!

What an amazing game. Drama. Controversy. Amazing plays. Dominant pitching. All equals an incredible win by the Norwalk Revolution 14U team. Alistair Morin and Cole Forcellina kept a hard hitting team under control and the Norwalk boys took advantage of early miscues to jump up 2-0 early. With the game tied at 2 a piece in the bottom of the seventh with a man on third - a blast to right sent the runner home for what seemed the end to our boys dream. But waut. The umpires remained on the field and our Manager Jimmy Benincaso took the shot by asking for a ruling on whether the runner left early - and the umpires ruled in our favor, sending us into extra innings. In the top of the tenth, Norwalk had a runner on third and an errant attempt at a pick off bounced off Jaden Echevarria's back and he raced home for the go ahead run. The bottom of the tenth saw Cole Forcellina hold off the Keene attempt at a rally as Artie Cocchia fielded the game ending out that cemented the win.
