No National Championship, but North Haledon Reds Finish Stellar Season

Thursday August 4, 1 PM at Waterbury Municipal Stadium in Waterbury Connecticut

Syracuse Yankees 2  North Haledon Reds 0 

The Reds (24-3-1) took on upper NY Champion Syracuse Yankees (20-6). Steve Coral started for the Reds and held Syracuse scoreless through seven giving up only 2 hits while striking out 8. Unfortunately the Syracuse pitcher, Marcus Warner did the same to the Reds usually potent offense giving up only 2 hits through 7 innings. Both teams failed to score in the first extra inning. In the top of the 9th Coral walked the leadoff batter who stole second and then scored on a single. The Yankees then plated another run on a fielders choice with the bases loaded. Anthony Pisano came on for the Reds with the bases loaded with none out and struck out the side to keep the Reds deficit at 2. In the top of the 9th the Reds were unable to score and lost the opening game 2-0.

Friday August 5, 12 Noon at Fuessenich Stadium in Torrington Connecticut

North Haledon Reds 7  Naugatuck Dogs 0

The Reds took on the Connecticut champion Naugatuck Dogs (23-5). Facing elimination Mike Garcia took the mound for the Reds and retired the Dogs 1-2-3 in the top of the 1st. The Reds came out swinging and scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st and never looked back. In the 1st Jason Midkiff picked up the Reds first 2 RBI’s with a single with the bases loaded. Mike Cassese and Tyler SanFillippo also picked up RBI’s with singles. The Reds added two in the 4th on a 2 run homer by Dan Limone. The Reds tacked on 1 more in the 5th with a home run by Stephen Nappe. Garcia took a no hitter into the 5th with 2 outs when he gave up a single and pitched through the 6th giving up only 2 hits while striking out 5. Jack Purcell pitched a 1-2-3 7th to hold the win for the Reds.

Friday August 5, 4 PM at Waterbury Municipal Stadium Connecticut

Nassau Long Island Yankees 11  North Haledon Reds 5

The Reds took on the Nassau Long Island Yankees (20-4) in game 3. Anthony Pisano was given the ball to face the potent Nassau lineup. Nassau scored 2 in the top of the 2nd but the Reds scored 1 in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single by Roland Goodman. Nassau struck back with 2 more in the 4th but again the Reds scored 1 in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Matt Ornstein. Pisano held Nassau scoreless in the 5th and got into trouble in the 6th and gave up 1 more run to make the score 5-2. Andrew Coco, who had not pitched in a month due to an arm injury came in the 6th to prevent further damage. Unfortunately Coco’s arm problem flared up in the 7th and the Nassau team scored 6. The Reds did not go without a fight when they scored 3 runs two of which came on a Stephen Nappe 2 run homer. 

While the Reds did not reach their goal of a National Championship they did take home the Met League regular season title and tournament Championship for the second year in a row and finished the year at 25-5-1. They anticipate most of the team will return for another run at their goal in 2017 which will be the Reds 30th anniversary season.

North Haledon Reds and Hackensack Troasts to Represent Met League in National Championships

The NABF and AABC World Series begin this week in Battle Creek, MI and Waterbury, CT respectively. The Hackensack Troasts, who won the NABF regional tourney this past weekend will be representing the Met League and New Jersey in Battle Creek, while the Met League champion North Haledon Reds will travel to Waterbury for the AABC championships.

The Troasts will open up at 11am on Thursday vs. the New Rochelle Robins. The NABF Worlds Series will begin with pool play (a total of 12 teams - 4 per pool), and transition to an 8-team, single elimination bracket on Saturday with a National Champion being crowned on Sunday, August 7th. Hackensack also faces the Muskegon Blue Jays on Thursday at 6:30pm and finishes up pool play on Friday at 2:30pm versus the Beecher Muskies.

The AABC Championship format is a double-elimination 8 team bracket tournament. The Reds drew the Syracuse Yankees in game 1 on Thursday at 1pm. Game 2 will be on Friday at 9am (winner bracket) or 12pm (loser bracket) versus either the Albany Athletics or the Naughty Dogs of Connecticut. The tournament will conclude on Saturday with the Championship game at 4pm or Sunday at 10am (if necessary).

Hackensack Troasts Win NABF Regional Championship

The Hackensack Troasts bats erupted in the 4th inning and put up a 6-spot to take a 6-0 lead and cruise to a 10-0 win in the NABF regional championship. Ryan Rinsky had a big 2-rbi double which broke open the inning and the scoring for Hackensack. Ryan Sharkey started and went 6 innings for the win. The regional championship is the Troasts' 3rd in the last 10 seasons, and their 5th overall. Hackensack now travels to Battle Creek, Michigan for the NABF World Series.

Corey Figenbaum fired a 9-inning, 3-hit, complete game shutout to propel the Hackensack Troasts into the regional championship game vs. the TBT Black Sox

Black Sox 5 - Troasts 2

The Black Sox jumped out to a 3-0 1st inning lead and held the margin for a 5-2 win behind superb relief pitching from Chirs Tucci who fired 6 scoreless innings to stymie the Troasts. The win for the Black Sox vaulted them to the regional Championship game and they await the winner of the Hackensack/Englewood game.

Three teams remain. The TBT Back Sox will face the Hackensack Troasts at 12noon on Saturday, with the Englewood A's  the Troasts opponent at 3pm.

Yankees Eliminate Falcons to Wrap up Round 2

Bergenfield took advantage of 3 Falcon errors in the bottom of the 5th inning, to score 4 times, which broke open a 1-1 game. Sean Reitz went the distance for the Yankees, scattering 6 hits and striking out 5. The Yankees move on to play the Englewood Athletics in the twilight game of the day in Lyndhurst at 5:30pm.

3 Met League Teams Begin Play NABF NJ Regional Tourney.

NABF Regional Tourney in Hackensack, NJ

3 Met League teams entered the 6-team, double-elimination NABF tournament in Hackensack, NJ with a NABF World Series bid on the line. The Troast Club (host team) was joined by the Bergenfield Yankees and the TBT Black Sox. Play began on Thursday, the 28th and is slated to conclude on either Saturday (7/30) or Sunday the 31st.

Troasts 12 - Englewood A's 4
The Troasts got by the defending regional champion A's 12-4 in the first round matchup behind the pitching of Mike Wassong and hitting of Nick Urbanovich.

Black Sox 8 - Yankees 2
In a first round match up of 2 Met League teams, The Black Sox came out on top with the 8-2 victory. The Yankees will play an elimination game on Friday at 2pm in Lyndhurst versus Big Ed's Falcons of Staten Island.

Englewood A's 10 - Black Sox 5
The A's stayed alive by tripping up the Black Sox Thursday night by the score of 10-5. The Black Sox now will face the Staten Island Pirates on Friday.

Troasts 9 - Staten Island Pirates 0
Hackensack improved to 2-0 in the tourney and moved into the Semi-finals with a 9-0 win over the Pirates from Staten Island. Nicky Urbs kept up his hot hitting with 3 hits, totaling 6 knocks for the day. Bobby Unkel, Justin Figart and Tommy Crohan combined on the mound for the shutout. Hackensack plays next at 12pm on Saturday in Lyndhurst.

NH Reds Win Met League Tournament Title For The Second Year In A Row!

North Haledon Reds 2  South Bergen Bullets 1 

The Reds won their second Met League tournament title in a row in North Haledon with the formula that worked for them all year -- great pitching and defense and timely hitting. 

In the game the Bullets jumped on top with a run in the top of the first on a RBI single by AJ Flores that scored Mike Rowe. Mike Garcia of the Reds then settled in and did not give up a run to the hot hitting Bullets for the rest of his night. On the night he gave up only 4 hits and struck out 2 while picking up his second win in the tournament. AJ Flores kept the Reds potent offense off balance until the bottom of the 5th when Dan Limone led of with a walk. He then stole second and scored when Ryan McFarland singled him home. McFarland then stole second and scored on Stephen Nappe's line drive single. Up by 1 run Mike Garcia tossed a 1-2-3 sixth inning. In the 7th the Bullets got the lead off man on with a walk and sacrificed him to second. With one out Steve Coral entered the game and induced a combacker and he threw the runner out at third. On the next pitch the Bullets stole second and again had a man in scoring position to tie the game. Coral then induced a ground out to shortstop Nick Ramagli to end the game. 

With the win the Reds finished 24-3-1 on the year. The fewest loses in the 29 year history of their franchise. 

The Reds will be playing in the AABC World Series starting August 4th  in Waterbury Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Ct. Their first game is Thursday August 4 at 3 PM against the Naugy Dogs from Connecticut.

Reds Nip Troasts 2-0 in Final of Winner's Bracket

Reds 2 - Torasts 0

In a pitchers duel in North Haledon Reds pitcher Anthony Pisano battled Troasts pitcher Mike Wassong. The Reds scored 1 run in the first when Stepen Nappe ground into a double play that scored Dan Limone. Both pitchers threw zeros until Stephen Nappe drove drove a ball over left center field fence to put the Reds up by 2. Anthony Pisano got the complete game shutout after working out of a 2 out jam with men on 1st and 2nd in the top of the 7th. Pisano gave up 4 hits on the night, hit two batters and struck out 6. Mike Wassong also pitched brilliantly also giving up only 4 hits while stirking out 7. The Reds move onto the championship game Thursday night and await the winner of the Troasts vs. Bullets Semi-final game on Wednesday.

Bullets 8 - Marauders 2

The Bullets rebounded nicely from their first loss in the playoffs to knock out the Marauders with a 8-2 win and avenge last years playoff exit at the hands of Allendale. The Bullets will now face the Rays in round 4 with the winner advancing to the Semi-finals.


Rays 6 - Yankees 2

The Rays bounced the Yankees from this year's playoffs with a 6-2 win on Monday night in Bergenfield. Rutherford will be trying to advance to the semis for the first time but will have to face a tough Bullets team on Tuesday night.

Marauders 1 - Black Sox 0

In the first of 2 knock-out games on Sunday, Allendale bounced the Black Sox with a 1-0 victory in North Haledon. Allendale will advance to round 3 for the second consecutive year. The Marauders threw out the potential tying run at the plate to end the game. The 4th seeded TBT Black Sox had it's 2nd tough luck loss in as many days. 


Yankees 11 - Swamp Rats 10

In the 2nd elimination game of the tourney, the Yankees scored 8 runs in the first 2 innings and were seemingly cruising to an easy victory. However, with the score 11-5 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, the resilient Rats rallied for 5 runs and had the tying run on 3rd. Jose Jimenez, who pitched a complete game for the Yanks, struck out the final batter, stranding the tying run and ending the Rats run. It was the 3rd emotional, 1 run game for the Swamp rats in 3 days in these Met League playoffs. The Yankees advance to the 3rd round.


Reds 4 - Rays 0

Steve Coral pitched a complete game shutout over the tough Rays in North Haledon. Coral scattered 3 hits while walking only 1 and striking out 3. The Reds scored the only run they needed in the 1st on Stephen Nappe's 2 out 2 strike line drive to left scoring Dan Limone who led off the game with a base hit. The Reds added 2 in the 4th on Stephen Nappe's 2 out 2 strike 2 RBI double over the center fielders head. The Reds tacked on another run in the 6th on Ryan MacFarlands sacrefice fly scoring Dan Limone who led off the inning with a single. Dan Limone (2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases), Nick Ramagli (2 for 3 with a double and a run scored), Stephen Nappe (2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBIs) and Mike Rizzo (2 for 4) each has 2 hits apiece on the night.


Troasts 9 - Bullets 4

The Hackensack offense pounded out 14 hits to overcome uncharacteristically shoddy defense (5 errors) to down the Bullets 9-4 in Bergenfield. Seven extra base hits, doubles by Rich Guillod, Jessie Baiza and Ryan Rinsky, triples by Matt Dawkins, Angel Roman and Butch Bellenger, and a two run homer by Guillod, punctuated the Troast attack. Ryan Sharkey got the W with 3.1 innings of masterful middle-relief work. Hackensack will travel to North Haledon for a showdown with the Reds on Tuesday, with the winner advancing to the Championship round.

North Haledon Reds 6  Allendale Marauders 1

The Reds jumped on top in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single by Stephen Nappe. The Marauders tied it in the top of the 3rd on a two out single by Kurt Hommen. The Reds came right back to reclaim the lead in the bottom of the inning on an RBI fielders choice by Mike Rizzo. The Reds sealed the win with 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th capped by Jason Midkiff's 2 RBI double. Mike Garcia picked up the win going 6 strong innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits while striking out 9. Anthony Pisano pitched a 1-2-3 7th striking out 2. Stephen Nappe was 2 for 2 for the Reds with a double, a walk and 2 RBIs. Dan Limone was 1 for 3 with a walk, 2 stolen bases and 3 runs scored.


Hackensack Troasts 7 Bergenfield Yankees 2

Four Hackensack pitchers limited Bergenfield to 2 hits as the Troasts opened up the playoffs with a 7-2 win in the first round over the Yankees. Eric Katzman went 3 scoreless innings and was followed by Bobby Unkel, Corey Figenbaum and Jake Cortezzo respectively. Butch Bellenger had 3 hits, including 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Rich Guillod also added 2 hits, with a triple and 2 runs.


Bergen Bullets 7  Bergen Swamp Rats 6

The Bullets battled back from early deficits to overtake the Swamp Rats in extra innings 7-6 and a walk-off win in Westwood Saturday night. 


Rutherford Rays 1  TBT Black Sox 0

The Rays started the play-offs on a high note with a win in their usual fashion by relying on excellent pitching and great defense. Lou Cautero (7-0) allowed 4 hits and no walks as the Sox could not solve the husky righty. Pete Decilla also stymied the Rays by making them strand 9 runners as the Rays had to capitalize on a double play try with Jamie Wollerman's heads up base running scoring from second base. Joe Odonell and Chris Decarlo chipped in for the gliders with 2 hits apiece.

Tomorrow there are 5 games on the board.

Rays edge Yanks 

The Rays and Yanks played a barn burner of scoreless baseball for 4 2/3's innings a few weeks back which ended as a suspended contest to be resumed at a later date. Earlier this evening, both teams vying for post season positioning resumed that contest. The Rays finished in dramatic fashion behind their pitching ace Lou Cautero on his clutch 2 out double to score Nick Romito following his walk and a perfectly executed SAC bunt by Dan Belitz. Cautero (6-0) tossed the final 2 1/3 innings by striking out 4. Pitching was outstanding for the first 4 2/3 by the Yanks Jaad Smeltzer and the Rays Eric Bomblit throwing shut -out baseball.

Troasts Stop Wildcats 8-0 at Foschini Park 

On a very humid July evening, Mike Wassong started and was in peak form, holding the Wildcats to just 2 hits through 4 innings as the Troast went on to take the Wildcats 8-0 in a 6 inning contest in Hackensack. Butch Bellinger lead off the 2nd on an error by 1st baseman Eddie Spitaletta and scored the only run the Troast needed.

Reds take first game of twin bill from Dumont 5-2

Mike Garcia pitched 5 strong innings giving up 2 runs and 5 hits with 5 strikeouts. Anthony picked up the save trowing 2 scoreless innings giving up only 1 hit while striking out 2. Steve Nappe was 3 for 4 for the Reds with 2 RBI's. Nick Ramagli was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored. Mike Cassese also chipped in with and RBI.


North Haledon Reds 10 Dumont Huskies 2

Reds get to 20 wins with double header sweep of Dumont

The Reds finished the regular season at 20-3-1 and in first place. Jack Purcell threw 5 shutout innings giving up only two hits while striking out 5. Mike Casses was 3 for 4 for the Reds with a double, 1 run scored and 2 RBIs. Nick Ramagli was 2 for 4 with a double, 1 run scored and 2 RBIs. The Reds first game in the league tournament is Saturday night at 7 PM in North Haledon.

Rays tame Cats 5-0

Joe Zembryski hurled a complete game blanking the Wildcats 5-0 , allowing 5 hits and striking out 10 for his third win against no defeats. Rays bats sprayed 8 hits with Marc Hanna leading the stingers with 2 hits,2 rbi's and a run scored. Chris DeCarlo continued his second half surge with a clutch 2 out RBI single. Sweet Lou Cautero also punched a 2 out RBI single helping the cause. Dan Belitz and Jamie Wollerman each added a two bagger and scored a run.

Sox get 12th win

Joe Torre lost his bid for the no hitter in the 2nd when Jimmy Fitz singled and that was the only hit he would give up the rest of the game. The Sox scored 11 runs on the day.


Bergen Mets 3 NJ Wildcats 2

Mets beat Wildcats 3-2 in nightcap

A 3 run 3rd inning sparked by 3 Wildcat errors was just enough to take the nitecap 3-2. The Mets combined timely hitting with sure handed defense to split the twin bill.

Wildcats erupt for 16 runs

The Jersey Wildcats erupted for 16 runs scoring 10 in the first 2 innings topping the Bergen Mets 16-4. Mike Green started for the Wildcats and had a perfect game through the first 3 innings. Derek Obregon singled for the Mets in the 4th for thier first hit in the game.

3rd Shutout in a Row for Troasts

Hackensack got it's 3rd consecutive shutout in as many days with a 16-0 win over Dumont on Friday night. 3 pitchers combined on a 2 hitter, while Nick Urbanovich (3 hits, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Angel Roman (2 hits, 2 runs, 3 RBI) and Mike Wassong (2RBI Triple) led the Troast offense.

Troast Come Out on Top in Classic Pitchers' Duel

For the 2nd consecutive night, 4 Hackensack pitchers combined for a shut out win. Jon Hornung (2 IP) started and was followed by Bobby Unkel (2 IP), Jake Cortezzo (2 IP) and Justin Figart, who recorded the save. RC Renshaw's RBI double, driving home Nick Urbanovich in the 2nd inning was the only scoring of the game. Pierce Marston otherwise was brilliant for the Bullets allowing only a total of 4 hits and striking out 5 in the complete game effort. In the bottom of the 7th, the Bullets loaded the bases with no one out on a hit and then 2 errors. Figart was able to get the next batter to pop out and then get a soft liner double play to end the game. AJ Flores was 2 for 2 for the Bullets.

Reds clinch regular season title with 7-0 win

The Reds jumped on top with 5 runs in the first and never looked back to clinch their third regular season title in a row. The Reds first was highlighted by Stephen Nappe's 3 RBI double and Jason Midkiff's 2 run homer. The Reds added runs in the 2nd and 4th. Steve Coral tossed 5 shutout innings giving up only 2 hits while striking out 9. Anthony Pisano pitched the final two scoreless innings giving up 1 hit and striking out 2. Three Reds hitters had 2 hits each on the night: Nick Ramagli (2 for 3 with a double and 2 runs scored), Stephen Nappe (2 for 4 with 2 doubles, a run scored and 4 RBIs) and Jason Midkiff (2 for 3 with a home run, 1 run scored and 2 RBIs) The Reds finish their season with a double header against Dumont on Sunday. They play their first playoff game next Saturday at 7 PM in North Haledon.

Luis Ramos managed past a rough first holding the bases loaded and yet a 2nd inning that saw Dumont score 2 runs on 3 Wildcat errors. Offensively, the Wildcats scored in each of the first 4 innings on the way to a 9-2 win.

Black Sox Rally behind Rivera, Torres

Brandon Torres and Eddie River entered the game in the 4th inning down 3-0 and by the 5th were up 4-3. Rats set team record with 13th win

Tonight, the Rats jumped on the Wildcats early on their way to a 4-1 win on Tuesday at Breslin, scoring three runs in the first inning. Scoring in the first on a wild pitch, an RBI single by Sam Goodwin-Boyd, and an RBI single by Gerardo Reyes. Marc Cohen was hot from the plate for the Rats. He went 2-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the first and second innings. Sam Elias struck out six, paving the way for the win. Elias allowed no earned runs on three hits and two walks over seven innings.

Rutherford Rays 5 - North Haledon Reds 3

Fish outlast Reds 5-3

Lou Cautero (6H,9K's,4BB) proved his worth once again serving as the Rays ace by winning his 5th game against no defeats besting a very tough North Haledon baseball club. The Reds struck first with 2 doubles in the 2nd by Stephen Nappe and Mike Cassese for a 1 zip lead, but the Rays stung back with a 2 out 2 RBI bingle by Adam Hernandez. Rutherford padded the lead to 4-1 with a Chris Decarlo RBI single scoring Joe Zembryski following his and Kyle Bowes' singles. With no one out Kevin Van Dyk bounced into a 6-4-3 DP scoring Bowes. NH fought back in the fifth with a Ryan McFarlane clutch 2 out 2 RBI single to bring the score to a one run deficit. The Rays Marc Hanna added to his own repertoire of clutch hitting by depositing a one hopper off the right field fence scoring Jamie Wollerman for an insurance run. Cautero closed the door in the last two innings to finish it out. The Rays finish their regular season vrs the Reds going 1-2 with three great games, the first two losing both contests on walk off hits

Reds win 5th in a row in Bergenfield 9-6

In a seesaw battle the Reds pounded out 12 hits to win their 5th straight to improve to 17-2-1 on the season heading into the all star break. Anthony Pisano came on in relief in the 4th to pick up the win giving up only 2 hits and 2 unearned runs while striking out 7.  Five Reds had multi hit games: Dan Limone (2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs), Jason Midkiff (3 for 4 with a double, 3 runs scored and 1 RBI), Steve Nappe (3 for 3 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI), Dan Lopez (2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs) and Mike Casses (2 for 2 with 2 walks, a double and 3 runs scored).  Kyle Norton hit a 2 run home run in the first for the Yankees.

Rays hold off feisty Mets 4-3

With the Rays up by a run, Chris Innis took over in the 7th frame with runners on first and second with nobody out and then loaded the bases allowing a bunt base hit. The Mets scored a run on a errant throw to the plate to tie the game at 3-3. The wily veteran then struck out the next 2 batters and a ground out ended the threat. Marc Hanna led of the bottom of the 7th and launched one deep into the right center field gap for a stand up triple. It was Innis' night as the burly right hander squibbed an infield hit scoring the Sphinx from third base. Lou Cautero led the Rays with 2 hits while Joe Zembryski jr, tossed 6 innings allowing 2 hits, 5 free passes, and struck out 6.

Wildcats streak goes to 6

The Wildcats of north jersey reached a 6th straight win with their 6-4 victory over the Marauders of Allendale on Thursday night 6-30-16 at Votee Park. An RBI Double by Moises Roque followed by an RBI Double by Eddie Spitaletta was capped off by a 2 run Homer by Ellis Sanchez that cleared the left field foul pole. John Lawton gets the win with Miguel Ramos picked up a 2 inning save.

Reds win 4th in a row 10-3 over Bullets

The Reds jumped on top with 2 runs in the top of the 1st but then the Bullets struck for 3 in the bottom of the first off Mike Garcia. Garcia then settled in and did not give a run through the next 3 innings. Mike Ardis pitched 2 shutout innings and Anthony Pisano pitched a scoreless 7th. The Reds tied the game in the 3rd on a RBI double by Mike Rizzo. The Reds then scored 2 in the 4th to pull ahead with RBI's by Dan Limone (3 for 3 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI) and Nick Ramagli (3 for 3 with 2 doubles, 1 run scored and 2 RBIs). The Reds then busted the game open with 5 in the top of the 7th. Zac Rose was 2 for 4 on the night with a double, 1 run scored and 2 RBIs.

Dumont comes out ahead in rematch

Dumont hit the ground running, scoring every inning except the 5th en route to an 8-3 victory against the Rays. Scott Hulahan pitched a gem, as he pitched 6 innings and let up only one run, striking out three. Michael Barry came in relief to close out the game. Brian Burd started out the game with a triple, and was SAC home by Stephen Stylianou. Timely hits by Dumont, including a 3RBI double by Stephen Stylianou, singles by Daniel Davidoff, Pat Doherty, Bryan Burd and Daniel Dripchak were quite productive.

Rats best Troasts in classic pitcher's duel

A magnificent effort by Ryan Fitzpatrick hoisted the Rats to a 2-0 win in seven innings over Hackensack Troasts on Tuesday at Breslin. Fitzpatrick held Hackensack Troasts scoreless for 6 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and allowed one walk and two hits. Sam Goodwin-Boyd helped the Rats pull ahead with an RBI single in the sixth inning. With two on and two out, Josh Williams put away the final out to record the save. Wassong, Hornug and Mejia kept the Rats off balance all night.

Steve Coral flirted with a perfect game into the 4th when he gave up a lead of single to right. Coral picked up the win throwing 5 strong innings yielding only 2 hits and 1 unearned run while striking out 10 and walking none. Mike Sweeney threw a scoreless 6th. Ryan MacFarlane was 2 for 3 for the Reds with an RBI and 2 runs scored. David Sdrougias also had 2 RBI going 1 for 2 with a double.

The Rays were on the long side of a 2-1 old fashioned pitching duel with their Ace Lou Cautero going the distance besting Eric Katzman. The Rays husky hurler struck out 14 hitters helping himself get out of a third inning jam and once again in the seventh stranding a runner on third base. Chris Decarlo singled in Jamie Wollerman (2 hits) and the Rays capitalized on a double play scoring another run and that's all they needed behind the stingy pitching and Rays defense.

Molina Slams Mets

Yanks explode for 17 runs as Andrew Molina hit a grand slam and Billy Malley hit a 3 run homer. Mike DAmbrosia was 2 for 2 with 2 walks and 4 runs scored.


Bergen Swamp Rats 9 - Allendale Marauders 5 (Game 1)

Rats Take Game 1 9-5

The Rats took game 1 of the double header 9-5. Marc Cohen had two extra base hits, sparking the Rats to a 9-5 victory in seven innings over Allendale Marauders on Sunday at Grandstand. Corey Sawyer racked up eight strikeouts in the win. Sawyer gave up just two hits over five shutout innings. Ben Hoynes, Chris Neuhaus and Lisandro Ulerio combined for nine hits and four RBIs. Three Allendale Marauders runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the sixth, making the score 6-3. A two-run double by Seikel and a passed ball set off Allendale Marauders rally. Finally, Connor Henry induced an inning-ending ground out from Taylor. The Rats increased their lead with three runs in the seventh. Schwartz singled, plating Hoynes to start the inning. That was followed up by Cohen's double, plating Michael Pettigrew and Ulerio.

The Rats and Allendale Marauders volleyed the lead five times on Sunday with the Rats winning 5-4 in 8. The Rats grabbed an early 1-0 lead which Allendale matched in the bottom of the first. The Rats took the lead again in the 3rd when Chris Neuhaus was plated on a sac fly from Kevin Skettini. Allendale Marauders responded with two runs in the fourth. Allendale Marauders scored on an error and a walk by Taylor. Josh Williams pitched 3 1/3 innings out of the pen and allowed one earned run on no hits. Lisandro Ulerio put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth and eighth innings. A sacrifice fly by Marc Cohen scored Matt Schwartz and gave the Rats the lead for good.

The Reds jumped on top with 3 runs in the top of the 1st with RBIs by Ryan McFarland, Dan Lopez and Mike Cassese. The Black Sox stormed back in the bottom of the 1st to score 3 runs off Reds starter Mike Garcia. Thereafter the Reds pitchers did not give up a hit the rest of the game. In the 5th the Reds scored 3 runs with RBI's by Mike Cassese and Roland Goodman. Anthony Pisano picked up the save with a 1-2-3 7th with 2 strikeouts. Dan Lopez and Mike Cassese each had 3 hits for the Reds.

He aided his cause with 3 hits and 4 RIBIs. Jamie Wollerman also added 3 hits and an RBI. The Rays entire line up contributed with hits Rex MacMillan 2R,RBI,Kyle Bowes R,2RBI,Adam Hernandez 2H,R,RBI ,Lou Cautero RBI,R, Steve Kinzler R,RBI,Marc Hanna, Nick Romito R,RBI and Romito tossed the final inning to close the door.

Hackensack scored 4 times in the 1st inning and built a 6 run lead behind 3 pitchers to grab their 9th win in a row. Dan O'Neill started and went 3 strong innings, followed by Bob Klapisch and Jon Hornung who each went 2. Nick Urbanovich was busy defensively at 3rd base, making several defensive plays that thwarted potential Yankee rallies.

The Reds scored a run in the 3rd with a single by Jason Midkiff. The Reds then scored 8 runs in the 5th and 1 in the 6th. Mike Sweeney pitched the last 2 innings for the Reds giving up 1 run while striking out 4. The following Reds had 3 hit nights: Ryan MacFarlane (3 for 4 with a double, 1 run scored and 4 RBIs), Jason Midkiff (3 for 4 with a run scored and 1 RBI) and David Sdrougias (3 for 4 with a triple and 3 runs scored). Big 6th Leads Rats to Victory

The Rats outlasted Black Sox on Tuesday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 8-5 win at Breslin . The bottom of the second saw the Rats take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Ben Hoynes, plating Gerardo Reyes started the inning off. Bergen Swamp Rats 18O finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. The Rats scored on a two-run double by Marc Cohen off Sanfilipo, scoring Corey Sawyer and Matt Schwartz. Chris Neuhaus went a perfect 1-1 at the plate for the Rats. He singled in the fifth inning. Max Maarleveld got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed one run over one inning. Maarleveld struck out one, walked one and gave up one hit. Rats closer Josh Williams put away the final three outs to record the save.The Rats didn't give up the lead after the sixth inning. Additional runs came from a two-run single by Ian Steepy.

Troast Clip Reds for 8th Straight Win

After Zac Rose of the Reds tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the 6th inning with a clutch homer which wrapped around the left field foul pole, the Troasts scored the decisive run on an error after the ball was thrown away on a sacrifice bunt in the top of the 7th. Tommy Crohan got the win in relief of Ryan Sharkey who went the first 4.2 innings. Dan O'Neill fired a scoreless 7th to pick up the save.

Rays Hang on to defeat Sox 6-4

The Rays evened the series with the Black Hose (1-1) at Memorial Park in Rutherford in game that featuring 16 hits, 9 of them by the Sox. The steady Lou Cautero did not have his best control as Sox hitters worked him into deep counts for the better part of five innings, however, the hard throwing righty kept his composure to fan 6, allow 3 BB's and scattered 5 hits with an earned run. The Sox took an early lead in the second frame on 2 walks and a single by Matt Prevosti. The Gliders came right back in the third with a booming RBI triple by Joe Zembryski. The fish struck again with 4 runs in the fourth highlighted by a Jamie Wollerman 2 RBI triple scoring Kyle Bowes and Rex MacMillan. Dan Belitz capped off the explosion with a SAC fly RBI. MacMillan provided needed cushion with an RBI two bagger in the 6th. The feisty Sox scored 2 more in the 7th behind three singles and a BB off reliever Kevin Van Dyk. KVD settled down forcing two fly balls with the tying runs on board to end the rally for the save. Prevosti and Scott Hansen had 2 hits each for the Sox.

Long Father's Day in Hackensack Results in Troast Sweep

In 2 long, extra-inning games on Father's Day, Hackensack came out on top in both 5-4 & 5-4. In game 1 that went 11 long innings, Jon Hornung pitched 5 and Bobby Unkel went the rest of the way to get the win. Tommy Crohan started game 2 for Hackensack and just pitched the first while Eric Katzman went the final 8 innings of the 9-inning game 2 marathon. Dom Reyes got the GWRBI in the bottom of the 11th on a walk-off single to center in game 1. Hackensack scored 4 in the top of the 9th in game 2 to break the 1-1 tie and take a 5-1 lead. But the Rats, refusing to go quietly, mounted a rally in the bottom half and had the tying and winning runs on base with one out when Katzman dropped a 3 & 2 breaking ball in for a strikeout for the 2nd out and then got the final batter to ground out to 3rd to seal the win.


South Bergen Bullets 8 - Bergenfield Yankees 0

Poidomoni pushes Bullets past Yankees

Danny Poidomoni fired 5.2 scoreless innings as the Bullets defeated the Yankees 8-0. 
Poidomoni dodged trouble all day striking out seven and walking six, while yielding four hits. He exited with the bases loaded in the sixth and AJ Flores entered to get a flyout to left to end the game. 
The Bullets scored three times in the first on only two hits and didn't look back. Mike Rowe scored three runs and Flores drove in three in the victory.


North Haledon Reds 4 - Rutherford Rays 3

Reds win with 1 in bottom of the 7th

Anthony Pisano (4 hits, 7 Ks) held the Ray scoreless through 6 but then the Reds usual steady defense made two errors that allowed the Rays to capitalize with a 3 RBI double by Chris DeCarlo. Jack Purcell came in with the go ahead run on 2nd and got a pop out to left and a strike out to end the threat. In the bottom of the 7th Jason Midkiff reached on an infield error and scored when Mike Rizzo drove a ball over the centerfielders head for a double and the win. Dan Limone was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs for the Reds.

The Jersey Wildcats erupted for 13 runs with 8 coming in the 4th & 5th innings when both innings saw the Wildcats score 4 in each. 
Robert Spitaletta scored 4 runs, Nelson Lopez & Eddie Spitaletta had 4 hits each. Ellis Sanchez & Joe Cautinho each were on base 4 times. Eddie Spitaletta had 7 RBI's on the day. 
John Lawton got the win in relief of Eric Loneker. Luis Ramos got the save.

Chris Innis tossed 5 frames in his first start of the season in leading the fish to a 10-1 victory over the Mets. The burly veteran right hander allowed 1 tally, four hits, and did not walk a batter. Rays lumber company pounded out 14 hits to its 5th win in a row with Chris Decarlo leading the assault with a 2B, and 2 bingles for 3 RBI's. Five Rays were in the multiple hit category, (Rex MacMillan 2b,1B, SAC RBI, Marc Hanna 2R, RBI Dan Belitz 3R, Adam Hernandez 2R,2RBI, Kyle Bowes 2RBI. Nick Romito closed it out with a quality inning of relief.

Mike Cassese was 1 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBIs and Steve Nappe was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Mike Rizzo also chipped in with 2 RBIs.

Hackensack got a big shot in the arm from lefty Dan O'Neill, who went the distance and limited the North Haledon Reds to just 2 hits in a complete game shut out. He struck out 6. Sisco Ramirez's single and Rich Guillod's sac fly drove in John Digirolamo and Butch Bellenger, who both singled prior in the Hackensack 4th, which was the extent of the scoring.

Ryan Sharkey started and went 4 strong innings followed by scoreless frames from Kevin Thompson (1 IP, 2 K's) and Bob Klapisch, who struck out the side in the seventh propelling Hackensack to it's 3rd straight win. Rich Guillod had 3 hits and scored twice and Butch Bellenger had a pair of hits and an RBI. The Troasts pounded out 12 hits on the night. Hackensack's defense preserved the shutout by turning 2
double plays, including a sparkling 6-4-3 in the 6th to end a bases loaded, 1 out threat.

5 Run Sixth Propels Rats to Victory

Tom Dolaghan got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered eight hits.The Rats jumped out to an early lead in the first, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly by Eduardo Rodriguez. The Rats tacked on another three runs in the second. Skettini doubled, scoring Reyes to start the inning.Two runs in the top of the fourth helped the Bergen Mets close their deficit to 4-3. A two-run single by #17 set off the Bergen Mets rally. Finally, Dolaghan induced an inning-ending strike out from Biggianni. A five-run explosion in the sixth inning hoisted the Rats to a 9-3 win in seven innings over the Bergen Mets at Breslin on Tuesday.The Rats scored in the sixth on an RBI single by Kevin Skettini, an RBI single by Justin Ferreira, a sacrifice fly by Ian Steepy, an RBI single by Carlos Zabaletta, and an RBI single by Gerardo Reyes. Skettini racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Rats. Hurley was charged with the loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

The Rays glided to their 4th straight victory with an 8-1 win over the Yanks tonight in Rutherford. Eric Bomblit toed the slab for 6 innings earning the win. He fanned 7, and 1BB , allowed 4 hits including a sole shot by Bryan Kay. The Stingers banged out 7 safeties with timely hitting with Rex MacMillan(2H-2R-2RBI) and Joe O'donnell (2H-R-RBI) leading the hit parade. RBI's were picked up by Marc Hanna 2, Joe Zembryski and Dan Belitz. Steve Kinzler closed it out with a 1,2,3, 7th.

In an exceptional game in North Haledon the Reds jumped on top in the 1st inning on Steven Nappe 2 run homer. Through 6 innings both teams did not score because of great defensive plays with men on base. In the top of the 7th KC Abel's double with 1 out scored 2 for the Bullets to tie. In the bottom of the 9th the Reds had a man on second with 1 out but could not push the run across.

Rays Repel Marauders

Marc Hanna provided the fire power with a 3 run HR and a solo shot (4RBI) in leading the Rays over the M's 8-1. Josh Caba got the hard earned win with 5 innings of work, only allowing 2 hits, boasting 4 K's, surrounded by 6 BB's and 2 hits batsmen. Work Horse Rex MacMillan flinged the final 2 innings by striking out 3. MacMillan added 2 hits and 2 runs scored while his cohort at 2b Jamie Wollerman collected 3 hits (2B/2 RBI). Danny Belitz sported 2 hits (2B/ RBI) supporting the cause. Billy Taylor proved to be a tough out reaching the bags with 2H and a HPB.

The Rays grabbed game one of a twin bill at Allendale by besting the Marauders 3-2. Joe Zembryski's first start on the hill gave him the longside decision with a 5 inning outing, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, 6 bases on balls and 6 strikeouts. He helped himself with 2 hits including a solo blast in the 5th. Veteran Chris Innis closed out the last 2 frames with the save. Although scoring only 3, the denizens of the deep banged out 11 hits with Rex Macmillan(2B)RBI and Dan Belitz owning 2 each.Evan Gettle chipped in with 2 hits for the M's.

The Black Sox grabbed the 1st game of the twin-bill 7-5 behind aggressive base running and capitalizing on pickoff miscues. In the 1st inning, the Black Sox scored after a 2-base error on a pickoff attempt at 1st base. The Sox would later take a 3-1 lead when a bases loaded walk turned into 2 runs when the baserunner from 2nd stole home on the play. They would extend the lead to 5-1 when another overthrow on a pickoff resulted in a 2-error, 3-base, 2-run play, allowing runners from 1st and 2nd to both score. The Troasts threatened in the bottom of the 7th when they scored twice to cut it 7-5 and with one out had the bases loaded, but a pop up and a ground out ended it and preserved the win for the Sox.

In game 2, the Troasts scored in each of the 5 innings and racked up 12 hits behind a complete game 3-hit effort from starting pitcher Eric Katzman. Matt Dawkins (5 RBI, 1 run) and Sisco Ramirez (2 runs, 2 RBI) both went 3 for 3 on the day, and Butch Bellenger scored 3 times to lead the offense. Steven Digirolamo and Jake Cortazzo had 2 hits each as well and Nick Urbanovich chipped in with 2 ribbies.

Rays Edge Yanks 5-4

Lou Cautero improved his record to 2-0 by scattering 6 hits, and K'ing 10 in a complete game. The Rays jumped out to a quick lead scoring a run in the first on a SAC fly by Marc Hanna. The Yanks came right back in the first frame plating 2 on a 2 run double by Vinny Malley. The Rays bounced back scoring 4 in the 5th and 6th frames taking a 3 run lead on another SAC fly from Hanna and an RBI single by Anthony Spinelli. Michael D'ambrosio had 2 key hits for the Yanks.

Reds blank Rats 7-0 and run streak to 10

The Reds pounded out 14 hits on route to a 7-0 shutout of the Rats in North Haledon. The Reds scored 5 in the first and 2 in the second. In their fourth shutout in a row Andrew Coco tossed 5 scoreless innings yielding only 2 hits while striking out 9. Anthony Pisano preserved the shutout with two scoreless innings giving up 2 hits while striking out 3. Zac Rose was 3 for 4 with 1 run scored. The following Reds also had multi hit nights: Jason Midkiff (2 for 4 with a run scored), Dan Lopez (2 for 3 with 1 runs scored and 2 RBIs) and David Sdrougias (2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs).

Reds Improve to 9-0 with 3rd straight shut out 

In a crisp game on a sloppy field three Reds pitchers combined for another shutout win. Mike Garcia threw the first five yielding only one hit while striking out 6. Anthony Pisano struck out 2 in his scoreless 6th and Jack Purcell got the save in a 1-2-3 7th. The Reds scored 2 runs in the first on Dan Lopez's 2 out single. The Reds added an insurance run in the 4 on Ryan Lapinski's fielders choice. On the night Dan Lopez was 3 for 3 with a double, 1 run scored and two RBIs. Steve Nappe also chipped in with a double for the Reds. Delio Coutinho pitched well in the loss for the Wildcats striking out 9 over 4 innings while giving up 3 runs on 3 hits.

Troast Club 5 - Mets 2

Hackensack broke a 2-2 tie in the 6th when Rich Guillod doubled home Johnny DiGirolamo, and the Troasts would add 2 more runs in the top of the 7th and eventually win 5-2. Troast pitching did the job keeping the Mets at bay. Jon Hornung started and went 3 string inning followed by Ryan Sharkey who tossed 3 scoreless to earn the win, and Eric Katzman sealed the win with a scoreless 7th for the save.

3 Rats Pitchers Combine to No Hit Rays

Three pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter for the Rats in a 1-0 victory in seven innings over the Rutherford Rays on Tuesday at Breslin. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Corey Sawyer, and Connor Henry teamed up to stifle the Rutherford Rays, striking out six while walking four. Fitzpatrick held the Rutherford Rays hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two. Bomblit took the loss for the Rutherford Rays. He went the distance, walked three, struck out two, and allowed one run.

Reds Improve to 8 and 0 with another shutout

Steve Coral threw 4 scoreless innings giving up 3 hits while striking out 5. Kyle Seickel threw a scoreless 5th striking out two. Steve Nappe (2 for 2 with a double and 2 runs scored), Jason Midkeff (1 for 1 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored) and David Sdrougias (3 for 3 with 1 run scored) each had 3 RBI nights for the Reds.

Lou Cautero tossed a 6 inning gem allowing 3 hits and striking out 6 at Forchini Park. The Rays scored a run in the first with an RBI bingle by Marc Hanna, and in the second frame plated 4 more with 2 two-baggers by Dan Belitz and Rex Macmillan (2 RBI), followed by a 2 run single off the bat of Jamie Wollerman. Anthony Spinelli (RBI) and Kevin Van Dyk added 2 base knocks each with Nick Romito capping it off with an RBI. John Digiralamo doubled for the Troasts

Rats grab 6th win behind stellar pitching

The Bergen Swamp Rats defeated the Rutherford Rays 3-0 in seven innings on Friday at Rutherford Memorial behind Michael Pettigrew, who went 1-2. He doubled in the fourth inning. Sam Elias kept the Rays bats at bay. The Rays managed just one hit off of Elias, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his six innings of work. Josh Williams put away the final three outs to record the save. The Rats took a 1-0 lead in the third, behind  an RBI double by Marc Cohen.The Rats added two more runs in the top of the fourth.Gerardo Reyes kicked things off with a single, scoring Eduardo Rodriguez. That was followed up by Pettigrew's double, bringing home Carlos Zabaletta.

Dumont Edges past Allendale 3 - 1

In a game that was as close at the score indicated, Dumont and Allendale played a tough game. The game started out with a pitching duel with the first two innings being scoreless. Allendale scored first with an unearned run in the third. Dumont quickly responded with a run produced by Anthony Hoagland's single to right, advanced with a sac by Kevin Barone, and driven in with a single by Josh Garcia. Dumont added 2 more in the 5th, taking advantage of a couple of miscues by the Marauders. Good pitching performances by Michael Donnellon who pitched with 4K's in 2 1/3 letting up one run, Bryan Contino, pitching 2 2/3 letting up no runs, and Scott Hulahan, pitching 2 innings, with no runs and 2K's.

Andrew Coco had a perfect game with two outs left in the game but gave up a hit to lose the shot at perfection. Nonetheless he got the shut out, gave up 2 hits, struck out 14 and walked none. Dan Lopez (1 for 4), Mike Cassese (1 for 3) and Roland Goodman (2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a run scored) each had 2 RBIs for the Reds. David Sdrougias was 2 for 3 with a triple and a double, 1 RBI and 1 run scored.


Swamp Rats 9 - Dumont 2

Sixth Inning Explosion Seals it for Rats

The Rats move to 5-2-1 after defeating Dumont 9-2 in seven innings on Tuesday at Breslin after a five-run explosion in the sixth inning. Dumont jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Dumont pushed more runs across when Garcia scored. The Rats scored in the sixth on an RBI single by Michael Pettigrew, a three-run triple by Sam Goodwin-Boyd, and a passed ball. Gerardo Reyes was solid at the plate for the Rats. Reyes went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the second and fourth innings and doubled in the fifth inning. Ryan Fitzpatrick recorded the win for the Rats. He allowed two runs over five innings. Fitzpatrick struck out five, walked five and gave up three hits.The lead stayed with the Rats after the fifth, when it scored two runs on an RBI double by Reyes and an RBI single by Ben Hoynes.

Sam Doran spun a three hitter for the Yankees tonight against an aggressive Wildcats lineup and outlasted 4 Wildcat pitchers in a 1-0 thriller. The Wildcats left 7 men on base including Rory Maglich on 3rd in the 4th inning when they left their best scoring opportunity 90 feet away. Matt Downey, Luis Ramos, Delio Cautinho and Randy Raphael allowed only 5 Yankee Hits in a dominant pitching performance.

The Reds hitters pounded out 15 hits and the Reds pitchers extended their scoreless inning streak to 20. Andrew Coco gave up only 2 hits over 6 innings while striking out 10. Lewis Morrell threw a scoreless 7th. Marco Baratta was 3 for 4 with a run scored and two doubles. Rats Top Mets 8-5 @ Breslin

In the Battle of the Bergen’s, the Swamp Rats and Mets passed the lead back and forth five times on Sunday, but in the end the Rats pulled out an 8-4 win in seven innings over the Bergen Mets. The Rats pulled out the win thanks to a strong fourth inning. A sacrifice fly by Ian Steepy scored Josh Williams and gave the Rats the lead for good. Ian Steepy paced the Rats at the plate. Steepy went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. Tom Dolaghan recorded the win for the Rats. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered four hits.

 Three Reds pitchers combined for a shutout. Steve Coral threw the first 5 yielding only 3 hits. Mike Ardis pitched a 1-2-3 6th and Anthony Pisano a 1-2-3 7th striking out 2. Allendale jumped on top in the 1st inning when the Reds gave up 2 unearned runs. The Reds pitchers then settled in and put up zeros the rest of the game. Mike Garcia pitched 4 strong innings yielding 2 hits and striking out 7. Andrew Coco picked up the win throwing 3 scoreless innings of relief giving up 3 hits and striking out 6. The Reds tied the game in the 5th on a 2 RBI triple by Dan Limone. The Reds scored 3 in the 6th sparked by Dan Lopez who drove in 2 runs with a single. In the 7th Stephen Nappe tripled in a run and then scored on Mike Rizzo single.

Fitzpatrick leads Rats to Victory with 9k's

Ryan Fitzpatrick hopes every outing could go as well as Saturday, as FItzpatrick struck out nine batters to carry the Rats to a 6-1 victory over the Wildcats at Bogota in seven innings. Neither team scored until the fourth when the Rats got on the board. The Rats scored on an RBI triple by Fisher. In the fifth inning, the Wildcats pushed across their only run of the day on an RBI single by Carlos. The Rats never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring two runs on a two-run triple by Eduardo Rodriguez.Madoc Fisher paced the Rats at the plate. Fisher went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He tripled in the fourth inning.The Rats increased its lead with three runs in the sixth. The inning got off to a hot start when Sam Elias singled, plating Matt Schwartz. That was followed up by Cohen's single, bringing home Fisher.

Rats and Cats Tie in Game 2 of Twin Billing

The Wildcats and Swamp Rats played to a 3-3 tie on Saturday at Bogota. Sam Elias handled the Wildcats' lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Elias allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk over six innings.The Rats lineup had no answer for Rafael Raul. The Rats managed just two hits off of Raul, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out seven during his 6 1/3 innings of work.The Rats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Kevin Skettini singled to ignite the Rats offense. The Rats added another when Reyes scored on an RBI single by Skettini. It didn't take long for the Wildcats to answer as they scored two runs of their own in the first. The Wildcats scored on an RBI double by Spitz and a walk by Wise.

Dumont's Mike Donnellon kept Bergenfield to one hit over and struck out 3 in three innings. Daniel Dripchak came in for the next three innings and gave up only 1 run, striking out 2, and retiring Bergenfield batters 1-2-3 in the 4th and 5th innings. Alex Woinski came in the 7th to close out the game, retiring Bergenfield 1-2-3 with one strike out. Dumont bats were hot with Steven Stylianou going 3 for 4, and Michael Barry and Anthony Hoagland each going 2 for 4.

Reds win seesaw battle in bottom of 7th 5-4

The Rays jumped on top of the Reds with 1 in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd. The Reds scored 2 in the 3rd and 2 in the 5th to take the lead. With 2 outs in the top of the 7th Joe O'Donnell doubled for the Rays to tie the game. In the bottom of the 7th Stephen Nappe doubled to lead off the inning. With one out Zac Rose singled home Nappe to give the Reds the win. On the night Dan Limone was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. Mike Cassese (1 for 4) and Stephen Nappe (2 for 3) each had 2 RBIs for the Reds. Rob Frank picked up the win for the Reds throwing the last 3 innings. Anthony Pisano started for the Reds and was relieved by Kyle Seickel. Lou Cautero pitched well for the Rays but did not figure in the decision.

Six Run Sixth Propels Rats Over Bullets

The Rats grabbed the lead after scoring one run in the third inning on an RBI single by Eduardo Rodriguez. They added another run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fifth. In the fourth, the Rats scored on an RBI single by Kevin Skettini, bringing home Sam Goodwin-Boyd A six-run explosion in the sixth inning hoisted the Rats to a 9-0 win in six innings over the South Bergen Bullets at Breslin on Tuesday. In the sixth on a hit by pitch, an error, and a grand slam by Carlos Zabaletta. Sam Elias kept South Bergen Bullets off the scoreboard for all night. He threw a complete game shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out three. Ackermann, Kaye, Martucci and Rowe accounted for the four hits off Elias.

Rats Get Back on Track

The Bergen Swamp Rats defeated the Allendale Marauders on Sunday 10-3 at North Haledon Rec in seven innings on the 2016 Met League Opening Day. In the bottom of the first, the Rats grabbed the early lead, 3-0. The attack began with a single from Marc Cohen. Eduardo Rodriguez singled, bringing home Justin Ferreira. They then added more runs when Cohen and Rodriguez scored on a two-run double by Zabaletta. Allendale tied it up in the top of the 2nd scoring 3 runs to knot the game at 3. The lead stayed with the Rats after the third, when it scored two runs on a another two-run double by Zabaletta. The Rats tacked on three runs in the sixth on a walk by Ian Steepy, an RBI single by Ben Hoynes, and a fielder's choice.Carlos Zabaletta racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Rats. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning. Ryan Fitzpatrick got the win for Bergen Swamp Rats 18O. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out seven, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Rays bang out 15 hits, Jamie Wollerman 4 hits including a 2 run HR, Dan Belitz and  Steve Kinzler collect 3 hits apiece with Marc Hanna and Anthony Spinelli 2 each and driving in 3 runs combined. Anthony Sangiardi goes 4 strong for the W with Lou Cautero 2 inn and 6 K's

North Haledon Reds 6 - Bergenfield Yankees 1

Reds top Yankees 6-1 on opening day

 The Reds threw out Yankee runners at home and at third in the top of the first to turn away the Yankees scoring threat. The Reds then scored 3 in the 3rd and 3 in the 5th for the win. For the Reds Mike Cassese was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Marco Baratta was 1 for 2 with a sac fly and 3 RBI's. Nick Ramagli chipped in with 2 RBI's and Steve Nappe 1. Mike Garcia threw the first 3 scoreless innings for the Reds giving up three hits. Steve Coral picked up the win throwing the next three innings. He gave up one unearned run on 1 hit. Mike Ardis pitched a 1-2-3 7th.


South Bergen Bullets 4 - Hackensack Troasts 0 

Rodriguez Pushes Bullets Past Troasts

Wendell Rodriguez pitched a complete game three-hitter, striking out 10 as the Bullets topped a short-handed Troasts squad 4-0. Denis Ackermann had four hits, including two doubles and Anthony Packer chipped in three hits in the victory.


Met League Opening Day - May 15th in N. Haledon

The 2016 Met League season will kick off during the week of May 9th, with the official Opening Day being Sunday, May 15th at North Haledon Municipal Park in North Haledon, NJ. Ten of the league's eleven teams will be in action with 5 games starting at 10am. Opening Day schedule is as follows:

Reds Capture 2015 Met League Title!

July 23, 2015

The Reds followed up thier Met League regular season title by winning the Met League Tournament on Thursday night in North Haledon. The Yankees broke out on top scoring 1 run in the top of the first but the Reds ended their short celebration by tying it in the bottom of the 2nd on a Roland Goodman single. In the bottom of the 3rd Stephen Nappe crushed a Joe Jimenez 2-1 fastball over the centerfield fence for a 3 run homer and a 4-1 Reds lead. That was all the Reds need but they scored 1 more run that inning. They also scored 4 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to end the game by the mercy rule. Nick Ramagli, George Monsen, Zac Rose and Mike Cassese each had 2 hits for the Reds. Mike Garcia picked up his second win in the tournament throwing 6 innings and scattering 8 hits while striking out 3.

The Reds now move onto the AABC Regional tournament in Albany, NY starting on July 31.

The Yankees and the host Hackensack Troasts are slated to begin play in the NABF Regional tournament on Thursday, July 30 at Foschini Park in Hackensack.
