WEINERT RESIGNS AS SAINTS MANAGER

The Manistee Saints have announced the resignation of Jamie Weinert as Saints Manager.

Weinert, a first-year manager, led the Saints to an 18-9 season and a GCBL play-off

 championship.

Weinert cited family commitments as his reason for stepping down after just one season but

said “I’ll be a long, loyal Saints fan, even after my boys are done playing. I love watching the

 young guys play.”

The Saints will begin the search for their new manager immediately.

TWO SAINTS PACE ALL STARS

Lucas Weinert and Lucas Richardson paced a Gratiot Co. Baseball League all-star team, playing in the Felch MI Labor Day tournament, to a win on Sunday.

Weinert had a 4 for 4 day with 3 singles and a double, while Richardson blasted a three-run homer in the first inning to lead the team's offensive punch.

The Stars split two games, losing to Trout Creek, WI, and beating Hortonville, WI, the eventual tournament champs.

THANK YOU !!!

Thank you to the 2024 Manistee Saints for a fun and great season and to our great fans, advertisers, and supporters of our baseball program.

It was the Saints 7th consecutive winning season culminating in a Gratiot Co. Baseball League playoff championship.

Lucas Weinert was named Saints Player of the Year and Blake Johnson was our Saints Pitcher of the Year.

SAINTS WIN LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

The Manistee Saints won both games at the league playoffs on Sunday, defeating the St.

Louis Spirits 4-3 in the first game and the Fulton Sultans 10-7 in extra innings in the

 championship game.

In the opener, the Saints scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to overcome a 3-1

deficit and win 4-3. A leadoff triple by Lee Pizana to lead off the 7th inning got the ball rolling.

After a ground out scored Pizana, consecutive base hits by Lucas Weinert, Lucas Richardson,

Kyle Weiler, Ethan Edmondson, and a walk-off single by Nate Dillehay won the game.

Blake Johnson pitched 4 2/3 innings and Adam Pierce and Kyle Weiler finished things up

with Weiler getting the win.

The second game was more hectic as the Saints bullpen surrendered a 7-3 lead in the

bottom of the 7th inning but then scored three runs in the top of the 8th to defeat the Fulton

Sultans.

After the Sultans tied the game against the Saints bullpen, Lucas Weinert walked to start

the 8th inning, Lucas Richardson doubled him home for the lead, and an error and a sacrifice fly

 by Pizana iced the game.

Joe Meyer pitched 6 strong innings, but the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead. Weiler picked

up the win in relief and Adam Pierce got a save.

The Saints finished the season on a 6-game winning streak, an 18-9 record, and a Gratiot

 Co. League championship.
